Windows Tomcat Service jvm -JvmSs parameter
This is a Tomcat specific thing, and I think it is specific to the Windows service launcher. It is pretty clear that it maps to the JVM -Xss option. There has never been a --JvmSs option on any Sun / Oracle JVM ... to my knowledge.

VisualVM - Memory Sampling in Windows 8 - Tomcat 7 as Service
What helped me in the exact same situation was using the same version of Java JDK and Java JRE on my local Tomcat. It turned out that my Tomcat was using JDK 1.6.0_45 and JRE 1.6.0_20. To check JRE version on your system open console and write "java -version" To check JDK version on your system open console and write "javac -version" Create two system variables pointing to your JDK and JRE locations, for example: JAVA_HOME variable with path "C:Program FilesJavajdk1.6.0_45" JRE_HOME variable with path "C:Program FilesJavajre6" Edit "Path" system variable and add this string to the end of its value: "%JAVA_HOME%/bin;%JRE_HOME%/bin" Relog on your system, your system variables will now work. Tomcat will use those system variables automatically as stated in catalina.bat's comment section:

How to set up JAVA_OPTS for AspectJ to work in Tomcat running as a service on a Windows Server?
After a lot of trial and error I found out how to integrate AspectJ in Tomcat running as a Service on a Windows server. I do not know why, but the bolded stuff was the cause to my problems. Of course, as I mentioned in my question above you need the following prerequisites: Add aspectjrt.jar to the web application WEB-INFlib folder. Add vendorAspectJCode.jar to the web application WEB-INFlib folder. Add aspectjweaver.jar to tomcat's lib folder omcat7.0.27lib Setting -javaagent:PathToMyAspectjweaveraspectjweaver.jar in the service.bat did not work. So I had to set it in the registry along with uninstalling/installing the Tomcat service for changes to be picked up by doing as follows: First I recommend turning UAC off and to make sure that you are an Administrator Stop the Tomcat ser

JAVA - Tomcat 5 Application connecting to Web Service using HTTPS, while Tomcat 7 Application does not
It would seem that the root cause of this problem is that when you are running the newer version (tc7, jdk1.7) you application is unable to find the certificate store. Are you specifying where the certificates are stored in you java code? Or anywhere else for that matter? If so you may be doing it in a Java1.4 way that has been updated in later versions. The default certificate store for java is {$JAVA_HOME}/lib/security/cacerts If your certificate is not being stored here, then this may be your problem. This store is per java version so this would explain why the older version is working while the new version is not. (This is covered in the post linked to by Michael) If this doesn't fix the problem, then it would be useful if you could post some more information about how you are con

Are Windows-GUI calls (creating visible windows, etc.) allowed in a Windows-Service?
GUI elements from a Windows Service are shown on Session 0. On Windows XP & 2003, users were allowed to log in to Session 0 and interact normally with the windows created by a service, but Microsoft put a knife in the heart of interactive services in Vista (and beyond) by isolating Session 0. So, to answer your specific questions: Is a process running in the context of a Service (the Service itself or any process it starts) "allowed" to make Windows API calls that display a visible GUI? Will most Windows API calls (e.g. creating and showing a window, using Shell_NotifyIcon, etc.) behave the same in the invisible session of the service? Yes, GUI calls are allowed and should succeed as normal. The only notable exceptions that I know of are those related to tray icons b

If you're using plain Tomcat (e.g., not TomEE), you could use a ServletContextListener to create the EMF, and then put it into a singleton. Then from that singleton maybe expose a method to give you an EntityManager.

Get user appdata path from windows service by running service under local profile
I have also encountered in that problem and looked at your question but i at first sight didnot find an answer in it. This is the Mohit shah Answer "I found out that is not possible to get user appdata path from windows service by running service under profile "LocalSystem". So I used Environment.SpecialFolder.CommomAppData which gives me app data path C:ProgramData when run on windows 7 and when used same thing in windows service, it also gived the same path and i also ran the service under profile "LocalSystem" so it did not prompt me for credentials. So this solved my problem." @Mohit Shah Please mark this is as answer so that other can take help from that.

Hosting WCF Service in a Windows Service - and start some stuff at the beginning
Whether this is viable in your circumstance or not will depend on your service design but the two general approaches I would consider for exposing service A to B with the overall design you've presented: pass a reference to the main service instance to the WCF / monitoring service in the constructor if using something like Castle Windsor, register your main service as a singleton so the monitoring service can access the main service instance from various points It's fine It's not necessary at all, but depending on the nature of the main service it might make sense to expose the monitoring functionality in a consistent manner with the primary functionality.

I am so glad you got it working. I know i have seen many have this problem.... And to think my own question about it got down voted. But anyways these are called Loader Service(by Microsoft) not Windows Service. They are the same thing except the former has the ability to interact with GUI. I know its a couple of months later this answer but...Your problem is not the library... its the process itself. How to deploy the Web service in to tomcat 7 from out side of eclipse juno?
Deploying a tomcat application consist of building a war file then deploying it. We call this servlet. Building the WAR As you already have your server code, you should now complet the WEB-INF/web.xml file. This file describe the path of your servlet(your server code), on the tomcat server. Depending of your framework you can have some configuration to add in your META-INF/context.xml file. In an eclipse project, thoses file are generaly under a directory name 'webapp' in your project. (src/main/webapp for a maven project). First you must use the javaee & javaweb tools of eclipse to build a war file that contains all yours libs, files, class and web.xml Alternativly you can use a maven build process to get a war, if you use maven. installing a console application as a windows service in windows server 2003
Now I want to install this console app using the installutil.exe as a service. You need to convert it to a Windows Service application instead of a console application. See the Walkthrough: Creating a Windows Service on MSDN for details. The other option would be to use Windows Task Scheduler to schedule the system to run your Console Application. This can behave very similarly to a service without actually creating a service, as you can schedule the application to run on any schedule you choose.

Sharing session attributes of a web service and a servlet within same Tomcat container
The fact that your class test.main.StoreCreds implements an interface com.data.credentials.manager.IFStoreCredentials doesn't change the fact that your object is still an instance of the concrete test.main.StoreCreds. And if the wabapp doesn't know about this concrete class, it can't use an object of this type, because it can't find the byte-code of the class of the object, which is obviously needed to use it. The concrete class must be shared by both applications. That said, shared sessions is not standard, and should be avoided. Consider making it a single application, or storing the data you want to share between apps in a shared database.

How to configure tomcat web.xml and tomcat-users.xml to secure a tomcat page
As far as access to the tomcat manager GUI is considered, there is no role as "manager" to set in tomcat-users.xml. you have to specify one of these roles. You can find the role names in the web.xml file of the Manager web application. The available roles are: •manager-gui — Access to the HTML interface. •manager-status — Access to the "Server Status" page only. •manager-script — Access to the tools-friendly plain text interface that is described in this document, and to the "Server Status" page. •manager-jmx — Access to JMX proxy interface and to the "Server Status" page. have a look into this link for further info, http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-7.0-doc/manager-howto.html I hope it helps, thanks.

Windows "system service", not "web service" performance
Well, the image processing requires a certain amount of CPU and IO resources for the processing. That amount does not change by fiddling with how and where you start your process. The difference between service or not should be governed by the required usage pattern. If you want the application to go on processing images automatically regardless if anyone is logged on you should run as a service, but if the usage is more like "choose an image, start processing and wait for the result" style you should go for a client app. It is not entirely clear why your customer wants to run multiple instances. Is it because they want to have one instance do the heavy processing work while they configure the processing for the other? Or do they want to run multiple instances because the processing is h

Tomcat crashes when calling JNI dll in windows 7
[SOLVED] As I supposed in my question, the problem was caused by the call to those tow JNI functions : (*env)->GetByteArrayRegion(env, b, 0, srcLen, data); (*env)->ReleaseByteArrayElements(env, b, data , 0); I replaced them with : jbyte* d = (*env)->GetByteArrayElements(env, b, &isCopyS); int i; for(i = 0; i < srcLen; i++) { data[i] = d[i]; } (*env)->ReleaseByteArrayElements(env, b, d, JNI_ABORT); Now It works both in Windows XP and Windows 7.

Calling a WCF service using Windows Auth from a Windows Store App
Turns out that the issue was a result of me hosting the service (for testing) on my laptop and calling it using 'localhost'. I've deployed the same service to another server on our domain and updated the endpoint address in the app and it all worked just fine. Looks like there's a restriction on windows store app calling services on localhost Not quite sure why this is working fine if I provide the credentials explicitly and does not if I just carry the logged on user though..
