mount remote windows share from centos
The mount.cifs file is provided by the samba-client package. This can be installed from the standard CentOS yum repository by running the following command: yum install samba samba-client Once installed, you can mount a Windows SMB share on your CentOS server by running the following command: Syntax: mount.cifs //SERVER_ADDRESS/SHARE_NAME MOUNT_POINT -o user=USERNAME SERVER_ADDRESS: Windows system’s IP address or hostname SHARE_NAME: The name of the shared folder configured on the Windows system USERNAME: Windows user that has access to this share MOUNT_POINT: The local mount point on your CentOS server I am mounting to a share from \10.11.10.26snaps Make a directory under mount for your reference mkdir /mnt/mymount Now I am mounting the snaps folder from indiafps02, User

Android - Mount a Samba share in code
Probably smbfs/cifs are currently not supported by your kernel. As Delyan said, ensure your kernel can mount these filesystem : $ cat /proc/filesystems nodev sysfs nodev rootfs nodev bdev nodev proc nodev cgroup nodev tmpfs nodev debugfs nodev sockfs nodev usbfs .... If they are not listed, you should try to do a modprobing (sometimes the module you want just have to be activated), get root access then : # modprobe <modulename(without.ko)> e.g. : # modprobe cifs If it doesn't work you will have to change or recompile your kernel (including appropriate modules).

Accessing a network file share with C#
Generally speaking, yes. It's the same. Just use the UNC path as you've stated. You may have security issues depending on how your application is running but a quick test should be something like: FileInfo myFile = new FileInfo(@"\serverTPKsome-file-that-exists.pdf"); bool exists = myFile.Exists; Just point it to a file that you know exists and see if it finds it. You may have to deal with Credentials or Identity depending on the configuration of your application. If this is the case you should get an Exception stating "Access Denied" or something along those lines.

VB6 calling .NET 4.0 DLLs on a network share
You should be able to debug the C#.NET dll by setting the start action under Debug to Start external program and specify the VB6 executable as the program. I know this works as I use this to debug a .NET/C# plugin for an old VB6 application. It shouldn't matter how many other dlls (.NET or otherwise) you have to go through to get to the code you are trying to debug.

Access network share from IIS hosted WCF web service
You need to look for the difference between what works and what does not. Things to check are: Does the one that works running in a different application pool with a different identity. Has the identity that does not work lost some rights? Does the one that works use a different user name and password to access the share. Has the passord of the user that does not work expired? Do all map to the same drive letter? Is the drive being used for another share?

Share Windows folder outside my local network
Oh my! First, this is an extremely bad idea to open a network share to the outside world. Access databases are shared as normal files through the smb protocol. That protocol is not really secure and opening your machine as such (you need to open and forward TCP port 139) would certainly invite lots of unwanted attention (in short, your machine will probably be exposed and taken over in a matter of a few minutes/hours unless you know exactly what you are doing to secure it). Second, letting people access an Access database over anything else than a fast wired LAN is another extremely bad idea (WiFI, even if it's on a local network, is bad because it's unreliable and drops in the connection can damage the access file). The only ways you can share an Access database over the internet are:

Faster way to access a file on a Windows 7 network share?
The issue was with nslookup taking a while to resolve the name. Using the IP of the network drive directly instead of using the name fixed the problem. We will probably end up putting all our addresses in the hosts file (system32driversetc) for Windows.

How do I use rsync to backup the "/root" folder to a network share?
i assume you run the backup as a normal user and try to backup files that belong to the root user. this will not work because of permission problems. run the rsync command as user root, or gain root privileges temporarily by prepending sudo in front of the command, e.g. sudo rsync -ruvz --no-o --no-g --delete "/root" "/mnt/backup-drive"

Deploying VB.NET application on a network share to minimize traffic
If you want to reduce network traffic then unless the application is doing something one off or relies heavily on a server data source your best off using clickOnce or a windows installer as the initial transfer cost is much less then the lifetime cost of any system that preforms most of the work on the server. If your application does depend heavily on some sort of bandwidth intensive data connection to server but require a native client environment and networking is a real issue then it may be worth splitting you application into a thin client that communicates with the server for processing. This would involve careful consideration of the communication protocol.

Starting .NET application from network share with extern DLL runs into crash
This sounds like a "caspol" issue. Network shares like \localhostprogram get reduced trust. Interestingly, from (some time ago), named shares actually get more trust - so one simple option is to map, say, z: as \localhostprogram, and access z:prog.exe - you might find that this makes it work. Beyond that, the options are: caspol changes to the each client machine ClickOnce of those, the latter is simpler. Then you simply run the ClickOnce application (rather than the .exe) - ClickOnce then basically makes it work. The user will, IIRC, need to click an "ok" the first time they run the application, but that's about it. You would need to ensure that the external dll is known the the ClickOnce deployment, i.e. it is in the project and marked to be shipped.

Windows Forms - VB.NET Check if Network Folder Exists without share access?
Generally, it's good security practice to not acknowledge the existence of something unless the requesting party has access rights to it. The file share server (samba?) is most likely just following this principle and you cannot change it if you really have zero access rights.

Helpful links: 1) http://beej.us/guide/bgipc/output/html/multipage/unixsock.html But I am not aware of how to create UNIX socket in java layer. If you are aware of the JNI then you can create the UNIX socket in C and pass on the data between the Java<->Native layers. Android supports local sockets: https://developer.android.com/reference/android/net/LocalSocket.html

Need TFS Build that copies documentation files to network share on check-in (but there is no sln to build) - like VSS shadow
You can create a dummy SOLUTION to get by the build definition where it asks for the SOLUTION to build part. You can create a dummy/blank solution file like this New Project -> Other Project Type -> Visual Studio Solution -> Blank Solution. Use that SLN file within the build defintion. Then edit your default build template and add the CopyDirectory and InvokeProcess activity to do the additional copy work (to the share) that you want to do. If you want to copy an entire directory you can use the CopyDirectory activity or if you want to copy specific file extensions etc you can use the InvokeProcess activity. CopyDirectory is straight forward, you just add the source and destination location and you are good to go. For InvokeProcess you can enter the "FileName = xcopy.exe" and fill in th

NodeJS, Windows, wmic stdin
You want to use wmic interactively, but driven by input from an application rather than input typed at the console. The normal way to achieve this for any application is to feed it input from a pipe. Conveniently, NodeJS appears to create a pipe by default if you don't specify any other stdio option. The problem is that wmic behaves badly when it is receiving input from a pipe. It refuses to do anything until the input is complete; it then processes all the input and stops looking for any more. wmic thinks that the input is complete when the pipe is closed or it receives a CTRL-Z. Hence you cannot issue one command, read the output and then issue another command. wmic doesn't write output until it thinks it has received all the commands, and then it won't accept any more. You can i

How can I share share read/write access to a file within the same process, but forbid it externally?
Files are generally not for multi-user interactions such as this. A database is what is needed here. Then the data you need written can be saved to the database and all the synchronous handling would now be the databases responsibility. If you still require a file, after the data has been input, it would be an idea to generate the file when needed based off the database data.

If not, First go through http://examples.javacodegeeks.com/android/core/socket-core/android-socket-example/ You can try opening multiple threads with each thread waiting to connect to a specific ip/port ( along with some timeout value ).If the thread produces an exception, that means the connection was unsuccesful. "Social Network Analysis Labs in R" (Stanford tutorials): Confusion over graph object / network class
I strongly suspect that the tutorial you are trying to follow was developed for igraph version 0.5.4 or earlier. At that time, vertices and edges in an igraph object were indexed from zero instead of one, and the tutorial seems to account for this, judging from the following comment in the tutorial: # IMPORTANT NOTE: Unlike in most languages, R objects are numbered # from 1 instead of 0, so if you want the first element in a # vector, you would reference it by vector_name[1]. HOWEVER, # igraph objects are numbered starting from 0. This can lead to # lots of confusion, since it's not always obvious at first which # objects are native to R and which belong to igraph. Since igraph 0.6, this is not true anymore; vertices and edges in the R interface of igraph are indexed from 1 just like

android network change broadcast receiver and getting network type
For what you say I understand you're not taking into account that every time the receiver is triggered it creates a new instance, which is destroyed after its work. Even with static variables you don't have persistent values. One solution that worked for me is to use SharedPreferences. HybridAuth working within local network, but not when accessed outside of my network
I don't think that most of the OAuth2 providers will accept answers that are not coming from configured callback url. So making redirects with the register will most likely fail. Instead, try to configure your callback to look like: http://www.yourdomain.com:openPort/hybridauth-2.1.2/hybridauth/index.php Where openPort is a port number that your ISP will not block. Then in the router you can make port forwarding openPort->80 or you just can start your web server to openPort and make sure the router is not blocking the requests.

How to mount a snapshot from boto?
The attach_volume method takes an instance_id and a volume_id but you are passing objects. Try this: c.attach_volume(volume.id, instance.id, "/dev/sdh") The device_name should be a reasonable device name for the OS you are using. You can find more about what that value should be here. boto uses standard Python logging so you can configure it to log as much or as little as you want. This gist shows a shortcut approach to get full debug logging. However, boto can only log what it has access to and it's possible the response from EC2 just doesn't provide much information.
