jQuery Mobile Search Hide Search Options
here is something that you might be looking for jsFiddle Example I just kinda added to your code so I didn't format it well. You can change back the .slideUp() and .slideDown(). I just like them better. $('#list li').hide(0); //Hide the elements initially $("#search").keyup(function(){ var SEARCHWORD = $.trim(this.value); if(SEARCHWORD === ""){ //Checks if Search Term is Nothing and starts over $('#list li').slideUp(150); return false; } $("#list li").each(function(){ if($(this). find("h3, p"). text().toUpperCase(). indexOf(SEARCHWORD.toUpperCase()) >=0) $(this).slideDown(150); else $(this).slideUp(150); }); });

Capture search url on click of search button in jquery/js
You can do this by dynamically setting the value of the action attribute in form tag. When page loads you load it with <form action=""> Then add a on click handler to the Search button. var searchUrl = "website.com/path/to/action?parameters" $("#searchSubView:findIt").click(function () { $("#SearchResultForm").attr("action",searchUrl); }); This if you want to dynamically set the action url for the form. But if you just want to find out where the form request was sent to, you can use Fiddler as David had said. Or you can use the developer tools in Chrome, or Firebug in firefox. In these tools check the network request tab, and you will find the form submit url with header and body details of the request.

border between search text and search button in a search box
You need to use at least one additional div. Like this : <div class="search"> <div class="search-text"> <input type="text" value="search..." /> </div> <div class="search-image"> <input type="image" value="Q" /> </div> </div> You can now apply the border to the search-text div.

Making jQuery $.ajax call to Twitter API 1.1 search
You cannot set request headers using AJAX calls with dataType JSONP. See this question: Set Headers with jQuery.ajax and JSONP? The best solution is to use a server-side proxy to do the search for you. I know you are looking for a client only solution, but with this restriction, and with no way around CORS, this is how it seems to be done today for the Twitter API. Edit It may be possible using a proxy like Yahoo's YQL if you don't have access to one.

Trouble with InstaFeed (search) and jQuery Mobile
The initial page has id index. When you submit the form, a second page is created in DOM with the same id index. The result is that you have the same page in DOM, more than once. So even if the instafeed script is executed, it feeds with photos the first page which is hidden and not the active page which is shown on the screen. Add the following script inside the <div data-role="page" id="index"> $(document).on('pagehide', '#index', function(event, ui){ $(event.target).remove(); }); This script will remove the last page from DOM. However note that there are more elegant solutions. At last jQuery Mobile 1.2 supports up to version jQuery core 1.8.2. <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <title>Instacuteness: The Cutest Animals on Instagram, Viewable on t

Python search dictionary keys for search input
You need to make a few choices; allow multiple matches, find only the first match, or only allow for at most one match. To find the first match, use next(): match = next(val for key, val in telephone_directory.items() if search_key in key) This will raise StopIteration if no match was found; return a default instead or catch the exception: # Default to `None` match = next((val for key, val in my_dict.items() if search_key in key), None) try: match = next(val for key, val in telephone_directory.items() if search_key in key) except StopIteration: print("Not found") These versions will only loop over the dictionary items until a match is found, then stop; the full for loop equivalent would be: for key, val in telephone_directory.items(): if search_key in key: prin

Jquery mobile collapsed list view with search not working
Using .toggle() adds to the element an inline style attribute style="display: none;" or style="display: block;". List items are already enhanced with display: block; by jQuery Mobile. Hence, when using .toggle() - when it is visible again - the element will get display: block; twice, inline and in CSS style sheet. To overcome this problem, use .toggleClass() classes rather than inline styling. I fixed your problem by adding a class .hide { display: none !important; } and I used it with .toggleClass('hide'); New code Using custom CSS classes to override existing CSS is safer, and keep in mind that for jQuery Mobile, it's better to end each property with !important to force override.

Your input is switching from display:inline to display:block, and then back again. The display:block is dropping the button to the next line, and the container grows, so the submit button moves. Fastest searching algorithm for 5 million records from linear search, binary search, b tree search algorithm?
Every data structure has it's value. For instance, you'd use a binary tree most likely if you had numerically sorted data because your complexity would be really low (I.e. O(logn)). You would use a linear search only if you have a few records because the complexity is O(n) or linear (go figure!). You'll have to do research on the value of various structures and the knowledge of how your data is stored to get a better feel!

Rails 4 search options. What options are available to combine a full HTML site search with an ActiveRecord search?
To rephrase your question, you want to combine results of Google Site Search with custom search results provided by Sphinx, Solr or Elasticsearch? First, you cannot really customize the content of Google Site Search results easily. You can customize the design, and could employ some JavaScript tricks to "merge" its results with another data source, but I'd say the approach is not something maintainable and, more importantly, usable. Notice, that you can display the search results from Elasticsearch with Tire in the same way as ActiveRecord instances, all the usual Rails helpers such as url_for etc. work. The easiest way to evaluate the integration is to generate the example application with the Rails template. If you want to combine the results from ActiveRecord data and the results fr

Making a search engine using PDO/PHP
Well by all means thank you for your honesty but what do you expect from someone who is a beginner? There is one thing. An essential one. It's about programming. Most people take it as a sort of hobby, an easy-go thing. But never as a profession which require years of education and experience. Most people never take programming seriously, like surgery or nuclear physics. So, all their idea of education is to ask someone to guide. However, the truth is: YES. Sometimes you are just unable to solve whatever particular task because of lack of education or experience. One cannot build a skyscraper by asking questions on a forum. If you are a beginner - then you need to learn. Learn basic elements. Learn to create simpler applications. Spend time. And then eventually be able to accomp

Making A Search Query And Getting Results
This is a quite big question with lots of small ones inside. First, the way to communicate between server and client is mostly based on RESTful webservices. But, it really depends on your use cases and needs. The same applies to your question regarding the "right tools". What skills do you have? Which dependencies do you have? What is your target audience? So, it is quite hard to give you "the one and only" answer...

Sharepoint 2010 - programmatically making changes to advanced search box

How does mobile safari process pdf so it can provide a search feature?
To the best of my knowledge, Safari (or, more specifically, Safari's PDF plugin) uses an Apple API called Search Kit. NSHipster has an article on it here. Unfortunately Search Kit has not yet been ported to iOS. For the search algorithm, then, you have a few options: Index your PDF's text using S4LuceneLibrary. Use Core Data as described in the WWDC 2010 video 'Mastering Core Data' to index and search the text. For highlighting the text, you could Redraw the PDF's text using Core Text. Use UIWebView and HTML/CSS to draw the text (which also makes it easily searchable. I've done this myself.) Depending on what interests you, let me know and I'd be happy to explain further. EDIT 1: To draw the text and keep the layout in tact as much as possible, I would look into using something l

How to search excel files fast in C# for Windows Mobile device
I would suggest to export the excel table to CSV (Comma Seperated Values) format. If possible, you could load the complete file and perform a search using Divide and Conquer Basically, the idea behind it is to alphabetically sort the column that contains the value you are looking for, eg. we are looking for the name "peter" within the name column. Than, you take the value in the very middle of the column (eg. "malcom") and check if the value you are looking for comes before or after that middle value. In this case it should be AFTER "malcom" due to the sort, so you split the table in half and continue the search in the according half of the table. You can repeat that recursively until you have a hand full of records left in the table (lets say 10) and perform a regular search to find th
