Syntax error in Insert Statement but Insert Statement is fine
Try this INSERT INTO Modified (ModifiedID, Username, [Table], RecordID) VALUES ('12','null','Accident','1') In most SQL dialects, TABLE is a RESERVED WORD. The [] is Microsoft's delimiter and I believe backticks ` are used in MySQL Also, do you really want 'null' as opposed to NULL, they have different meanings

How do I return the newly created ID after an insert statement from an inline SQL statement in C#?
Add to your query SELECT SCOPE_IDENTITY() after the insert. and call idReturned = cmd.ExecuteScalar(); instead of cmd.ExecuteNonQuery() Then check to see if idReturned is null, cmd.ExecuteScalar() will return null for your update query, the primary key should be party of the Director object so you can do: if(idReturned == null){ return director.DirectorId //just guessing at name of id property here for example sake }else{ return idReturned; } You should already have the primary key passed into InsertOrUpdateDirector to write the update query.

{"The INSERT statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint The statement has been terminated."}
You can't have a true 1:1 relationship enforced entirely through foreign keys, as the inserts have to be done one at a time and doing that would violate the constraint. Instead, you will have to make the relationship 1:0. Do this by making UserStatsID an int? instead of an int.

PHP insert statement returns no errors but does not insert
did you check mysqli_error(); it will help you to find exactly the error. It returns FALSE if an error occurred. In that case mysqli_error() gives you more information about the error. $result = mysqli_query($con,"INSERT INTO Contries (contries_id, contries_name, contries_code) VALUES(NULL,$cCode,$countryName[$i])"); if ( false===$result ) { printf("error: %s ", mysqli_error($con)); } else { echo 'done.'; }

The select list for the INSERT statement contains fewer items than the insert list.
Add a semicolon at the end of the INSERT INTO statement sqlString.Append("); SELECT SCOPE_IDENTITY();"); Otherwise the following SELECT SCOPE_IDENTITY() will be interpreted as the SELECT list of values for the INSERT INSERT INTO ....... SELECT To complete the answer (giving credit to the authors of the comments below) Do not forget to add the values placeholders for your parameters sqlString.Append(") VALUES (@MedicationDispenseID,@LocationID,@StaffID,@DateTimeStamp);"); sqlString.Append("SELECT SCOPE_IDENTITY();");

SQL INSERT INTO statement with WHERE Statement
Why don't you just use IF-clause? IF (AssetTagNumber = @TagNo) BEGIN INSERT INTO AssetComponents(ComponentID, ComponentDescription) VALUES (@ComponentType, @CompDescr) END For statements with WHERE script should look similar to: INSERT INTO AssetComponents(ComponentID, ComponentDescription) SELECT @ComponentType, @CompDescr FROM <table> WHERE (AssetTagNumber = @TagNo)

INSERT STATEMENT IN SQL
The 'extra part' is defining the columns (in order) to which you are inserting. You can omit that part IF AND ONLY IF you are inserting values in to every single column. That is, if the number of values specified, matches the number of columns in the table. Big, bold note: Even if you are inserting a value into every column, it is a very good idea to still specify the columns. The reason being, if tomorrow you decide you need to add another column to your table, all existing code where you did not specify the columns will break.

big number for id with insert into statement
List the names of the fields in Reports which will receive data. Omit the ID field from that list, and let the db engine supply the autonumber value. For example, if Reports includes fields: ID; fld2; and fld3 ... INSERT INTO [Reports] (fld2, fld3) SELECT fldA, fldB FROM tblTemp; Notes: Reports is a reserved word, so I bracketed that name to avoid confusing the db engine. If you care about the autonumber seed value and it's presently at 5500000 even after deleting all the Reports rows, compact the database to reset the seed value to one larger than the greatest stored ID value.

Trouble with INSERT INTO statement
User is a reserved keyword, you need to wrap it in square brackets: INSERT INTO Events (Date_Time, Details, Regarding, [User], Control_Number) VALUES (@Date_Time, @Details, @Regarding, @User, @Control_Number) I'd recommend renaming that column to avoid the need for square brackets every time you reference it.

string value contains (') in the insert statement.
You need to escape your inputs before saving it in your database. For example, with mysql_real_escape_string. $PName = mysql_real_escape_string($PName); $queryinsert = "INSERT INTO CART (CartPID, CartPName, CartPrice,CartCustID, CartDate) values ( $pid, '$PName', $PPrice, $CustID, (NOW()))"; This kind of situation can lead to SQL Injection, you should check this topic. The first thing to do is to move to prepared statements, which will save you some headache with SQL injection prevention.

I have a syntax error in my insert into statement
The problem is that Name (and possibly Password) is a reserved word in MS Access. ADOquery1.SQL.Add('Insert into admins'); ADOquery1.SQL.Add('([Name] , [Surname], [Dateadded], [Adminnumber], [Password])'); ADOquery1.SQL.Add('Values (:Name, :Surname, :Dateadded, :adminnumber, :Password)'); ADOquery1.Parameters.ParamByName('Name').Value := edit11.Text; ADOquery1.Parameters.ParamByName('Surname').Value := edit12.Text; ADOquery1.Parameters.ParamByName('Dateadded').Value := edit13.Text; ADOquery1.Parameters.ParamByName('Password').Value := edit14.Text

Insert into table with prepared statement

Don't insert the data directly into the SQL string, use placeholders (?) and then bind the parameters before executing. $query = "INSERT INTO Blog VALUES (?, ?, ?)"; $stmt = $mysqli->prepare($query); $stmt->bind_param("sss", $blogDate, $_POST["bTitle"], $_POST["bContent"]); $stmt->execute();

Having insert statement and procedure after FORALL
A FORALL statement is just that; a statement; you can only do one thing in it. You have to loop through your type again. forall indx in p_product.first .. p_product.last insert into my_table values (p_product(indx), p_product_desc(indx), p_msg); for indx in p_product.first .. p_product.last loop remove_dup_products(p_product(indx)); end loop; It's worth nothing that you're not doing two DML statements; you're doing one and calling a procedure. You cannot therefore use FORALL twice, you have to use a regular for loop. If you're only doing DML in the second procedure you could pass in the entire collection and then use FORALL then. You would need to declare a global variable: create or replace package something is type t__product is table of product.product%type; t_prod

string with 's not getting inserted with insert statement
You should be using parameterised queries if possible since simple string insertion directly into a query will, as you have seen, possibly corrupt the query. In other words, if the text box contains Paddy O'Rourke, your query becomes: open close what the ? | | | insert into QuestionMaster values('Paddy O'Rourke') ... and you can see the fact that the embedded ' is corrupting the query. It will also, as you have yet to realise, allow people to perform SQL injection attacks on your database since you're not sanitising the input. If, for some reason, your shop disallows parameterised queries (as it appears from one of your comments), find another place to work. No, just kidding, but in the presence of such

MySQL INSERT With SELECT Statement Doing Nothing
Essentially, all you have to do it wrap your select with select * from(). This makes your query: INSERT INTO `tiles` (`TileID`, `Type`, `X`, `Y`) SELECT * FROM (SELECT UUID(), (FLOOR(RAND() * 4)), 0 as x, 0 as y) as tmp WHERE NOT EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM `tiles` WHERE `X`=0 AND `Y`=0) LIMIT 1; I had to add the "as x" and "as y" because mysql was complaining about "duplicate column name '0'". My guess is that without the name explicitly written out it just uses the value as the name. Anyway, this query should work. Also, there is more information about this type of stuff in Kyle's link above.

SQL function in Hibernate insert statement
Simple answer is don't include it in the insert statement and let SQL do it. In the SQL table designer where you have the date column you are inserting into, set the Default Value to GETDATE() in the column properties and SQL Server will handle it for you. Reference and sample: SQL Server GETDATE() Function Table create script will look like this: CREATE TABLE Orders ( OrderId int NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY, ProductName varchar(50) NOT NULL, OrderDate datetime NOT NULL DEFAULT GETDATE() )
