Flash AS3 Loading XML from server (from Flash Pro AND Flash Builder)
For anyone else having this problem, I was talking to people from beanstalk and it seems that I was just doing it wrong. I was trying to use the repository for version control and hosting the assets when really subversion repositories should only be used for backing up your files and versioning. I went with Amazon S3 which is basically exactly what I was looking for, a spot "in the internet" where I could drop my swf, xml, image, sound files and have a path generated for my games to reference. It ended up looking something like this: _xmlPath = "https://s3.amazonaws.com/xmlFiles/1234235/explosion_guy.xml";

How to setvariable using FlashSelenium class in flash-selenium.jar?
The SetVariable command changes a variable stored by the flash on the website. It does not take a webelement. If you can find the variable that stores where flash is uploading from, then you would do something like: flashapp.SetVariable("variableName", "C:/testvid.mp4"); After you do that, you can click on the upload button.

external document class injected into a timeline based Flash app
Some brief about document class & classes & timeline : Consider the whole stage as a movieclip. Now the document class would be a user defined, external class for the stage movieclip. When you don't specify the document class, flash uses a predefined one, which derives a plain movieclip class. The frames added from the IDE are converted as calls to addFrameScript and the script in the frames are scheduled to run at an interval as per the frame rate (timeline). Even the shapes you draw, images you add, everything goes in as code in the frame scripts of the stage movieclip. Now if you add a movieclip onto the stage, the above process is repeated for it as well. You may set a class or derive from an existing class for any movieclip. The class will be initialized when the movieclip i

Flask: getting random repeated flash messages when flash() is in @app.before_request
You can access the list of waiting messages via flashes = session.get('_flashes', []). You can view the code on Github On the note of why you're getting a few messages flashing, it's because you're making multiple requests (but probably don't know it). Your web-browser is probably asking for favicon.ico which is a request, so causes a flash, etc. If you're running in debug mode, your console window will show all the requests being handled. For example loading a simple flask example in Chrome causes this to show: 127.0.0.1 - - [21/Jun/2013 16:35:05] "GET / HTTP/1.1" 200 - 127.0.0.1 - - [21/Jun/2013 16:35:05] "GET /favicon.ico HTTP/1.1" 404 - One is my request to view the homepage, the other is Chrome asking for the favicon (and it being told it doesn't exist).

Flash cookies are used through SharedObject. Flash has its own way of storing its privacy settings through the popup, when camera or microphone is to be published. If you are refering to your own internal privacy protocol, research about SharedObjects. Its quite easy. Don't forget to flush() :D

How can I access my Text Field from Flash with ActionScript in Flash Builder 3.0?
I think puppy is a class you have written. Just like Goat or Dog. And you are trying to call a non static function on the class. example: var mrSnible:Dog = new Dog(); mrSnible.description.text = "An hilarious dog"; //this works Dog.desription.text = "this is going to return an error"; //this won't

How to import actionscript 3 flash game into flash builder?
There are numerous options, such as: Flash Pro If your game has already been created in Flash Pro, you could simply target AIR for Android from Flash Pro's publish settings: ADT Command Line Packager Likewise, you could simply use the ADT command line packager to build your SWF to an Android distributable. Flash Builder Otherwise from Flash Builder, you can create a new ActionScript mobile project: Select Android, or other target platforms: Place code and packages relative to the src/ folder, same as you would relative to your FLA: Your entire Flash app could be published as a SWC, then instantiated from Flash Builder, or individual assets may be exported as SWCs: Likewise you can programmatically embed SWF assets in ActionScript classes using the em

could not find implicit value for parameter flash: play.api.mvc.Flash
You have masked the implicit request with the _ wildcard. As far as I understand Scala, when you use the wildcard, it means, ignore this whatever it is. Meaning, you cannot use it further in your code. But the flash scope needs access to the request, that's why it isn't working. This should work : def index = IsAuthenticated { username => implicit request => ... }

Now if I add a breakpoint in FB and I test the movie with ctrl(cmd)+shift+enter, the movie is published in Flash and is stopped at the first breakpoint.

Convert Flash into HTML5, keep using Flash if browser does not support HTML5
I think it is because your js file never loads. It loads after you append it to the document. Try it like this: try { new Audio(); var js = document.createElement("script"); js.type = "text/javascript"; js.src = "https://www.gstatic.com/swiffy/v5.2/runtime.js"; document.head.appendChild(js); // Add it to the head. } catch (er) { alert(er); <!-- displayFlash('abc.swf', 420, 450); //--> document.write("<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0" width="420" height="450" align="middle"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><param name="movie" value="../../images/thap_deluxe.swf"><param name="wm

Chrome's Flash player Shared Objects and External Flash Player Shared Objects
Because the Flash plugin itself controls where shared objects are stored and you cannot (as far as I am aware) change that location nor determine what that location is, there is nothing you can do about this one, unfortunately. You will have to deal with the lost data. It will happen eventually anyway, because I believe shared objects are cleared when you clear temporary browser data (or at least they should be, anyway). On the bright side, the average user does not know you can switch between plugins nor do they know how. The vast majority of Chrome users, even those with a more technical background, will be using the terrible Pepper Flash plugin, so your scenario should be a rarity. There is a way around it, however. You could set up a remote server and store the shared object there.

Is my Flash SWF on screen?
Use Flash's ExternalInterface to call a javascript function that checks to see if the element of off screen. In javascript, use JQuery with the Viewport plugin to figure out if we're off screen. (http://www.appelsiini.net/projects/viewport). I haven't tested the Viewport plugin, but I've talked to people who use it, and it worked out OK for them. In as3: var returnValue:int = ExternalInterface.call("jsCheckerFunction"); if(returnValue == 1) // your flash is on-screen. in javascript: function jsCheckerFunction() { if($("#flashContent:in-viewport").length > 0) return 1; // flash div visible return 0; // returns 0 if the element is offscreen } You could have it call jsCheckerFunction on each frame to see if the status has changed.

How to set AS2 as dialect in flash
I do a lot of Flash banners where I work. When the specs tell you that you need to use ActionScript 2, you're best of doing exactly that. Many publishers have tools that process banner ads, and reject them if they do not meet certain criteria. We use Cadreon most often which does exactly that. A lot of the reason is that the platform will promise to get the largest reach with a client's media. That means they typically only accept really old formats (like Flash Player 8, AS2) to make sure they hit as many consumers as possible. It might seem odd that they need SWFs this ancient - but consider that there are a lot of corporations that do not update software on their machines for many years at a time.

It will follow the way you have it currently written: -> New object of class B -> Call method One on this object -> First line calls supermethod, proceed to execute it -> Second line prints out after that Your code doesn't compile at all though, you might want to clear that up. Flash/AS3: error #1010
Check the XML. Either localXML.children()[i] is null or Name does not exist as a child node on the object. Also remember that if Name is an attribute in the XML, then you need to access it differently. If the Name is setup like this: <node> <Name>Stuff</Name> </node> Then you access it as you have done so already. But if it is an attribute like so: <node Name="stuff"></node> Then you need to access it like this: localXML.children()[i].@Name Another possible issue is the children() call. I've never used it before so I do not know specifically how it behaves. If the above issues do not fix it, try rewriting the parser to skip the children() call and just parse it like you normally would with nested loops. In the end, though Error #1010 mea

Selenium Automation(.net) using Flash
Flash does not expose its document model like HTML does. However, you can use the ExternalInterface API to send messages to the Flash object and get responses back. Active Tuts has a brief primer on ExternalInterface at http://active.tutsplus.com/tutorials/actionscript/flash-html-javascript-externalinterface/ Alternatively, you can use the FlashVars mechanism to send variables into the Flash object. This is one-way communication from the container into Flash.

You can write to the file, but it won't work if multiple application tries to write the file at the same time. And, lets say app A changes one data, and app B changes another data. App A writes the new XML, then B writes its own version of the XML without acknowledging the changes from A. The changes from A are lost. One way to go here is SQLite. Natively supported in AIR. But then again, you can not write the file at the same time from 2 different apps. AIR is supposed to handle those writing issues, but i already experienced some problems with it. A much better way to go here would be setting a SQL server up (or any other real DB server, i am no expert) and some php interface. Maybe AMFPHP : http://gotoandlearn.com/search.php?q=amf, or simply use urlloaders ...
