/lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.9' not found error while installing Qt5 on Linux
Don't mess with the system libraries -- just upgrade your distribution. Glibc 2.11 has been released in 2009, that's four years ago.

Error while running chromedriver: "/lib64/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.14' not found" in CentOS6
/lib64/libc.so.6: version GLIBC_2.15 The binary you are trying to run was built on a GLIBC-2.15 based system. It will not run on any system with older GLIBC (and your GLIBC is older than 2.14). /usr/lib64/libstdc++.so.6: version GLIBCXX_3.4.15 Likewise, your binary requires libstdc++.so.6 3.4.15 or above (3.4.15 corresponds to GCC 4.6). You need to run this binary on a newer system, or to get that binary built for an older one. And where can I find an OS with GLIBC-2.15 Use distrowatch.com. For example, this link shows that there are no CentOS distributions that fit the bill, but Fedora 17 and later are sufficiently new.

Reducing the version of libc required
You need to link gblic statically when building your executable. See Static linking glibc Or make it so that users have GLIBC_2.17 installed.

Why is using three * in glibc libc-lock.h?
I'd guess that it's to help ensure that FCT is a function pointer. When a function pointer is dereferenced, it returns a "function designator". C99 6.5.3.2/4 "Address and indirection operators" says: The unary * operator denotes indirection. If the operand points to a function, the result is a function designator And much like array names, a function designator evaluates to a function pointer except in a a couple cases. C99 6.3.2.1/4 "Lvalues, arrays, and function designators": A function designator is an expression that has function type. Except when it is the operand of the sizeof operator or the unary & operator, a function designator with type "function returning type" is converted to an expression that has type "pointer to function returning type". Therefore you can

can't start oracle service in linux
You can try this recovery mechanism, but it's not guaranteed. Back up your database (even in its broken state) BEFORE you try any recovery suggestions. You can torpedo all of your data if you fail to do this. You should always keep a regular backup of your production database -- ours runs every 12 hours. STARTUP MOUNT ALTER DATABASE BACKUP CONTROLFILE TO TRACE; STARTUP NOMOUNT RECOVER DATABASE USING BACKUP CONTROLFILE UNTIL CANCEL; enter CANCEL; ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS; This may get your database back into a corrupt state, just allow it to process then fix any inconsistent data manually (will only be transactions that were running when it failed). Hope it helps.

What is the sanctioned way to build libc++ for clang on Linux?
The libc++ website has a nice overview of the possible ways to build libc++. I suggest using CMake + libc++abi. Also see the Arch Linux User Repository build script, which uses the buildit script. I installed libc++ from that and used it with the Arch Linux Clang package succesfully by using clang++ -std=c++11 -stdlib=libc++ -lc++abi

Linking GraphicsMagick++ with clang libc++ on Linux
Do you also explicitly link with dependencies of GraphicsMagick++? I think that might resolve your problem if you enumerate all the dependencies of GraphicsMagick++ as dependancies of produced executable, so link with these libs as well: -lGraphicsMagick -ljpeg -lpng12 -lbz2 -lz And see if you have less linking errors or none.

What is the oldest version of gcc/glibc that supports the strerrorlen_s and strerror_s functions?
N1570 Committee Draft — April 12, 2011 ISO/IEC 9899:201x errno_t strerror_s(char *s, rsize_t maxsize, errno_t errnum); size_t strerrorlen_s(errno_t errnum); size_t strnlen_s(const char *s, size_t maxsize); That's from my copy of the C11 standard - draft N1570. Maybe later versions of gcc have it... So we are not both crazy....

Incompatible libc.so.6 Found During Cross-Compilation of Qt5 OpenGL Test for i.MX6
It seems that you are compiling against the wrong libc. The location of the correct libc should be: /home/Desktop/poky-dylan-9.0.0/build/tmp/deploy/images/mountpoint/lib/ Can you check that? Run in that folder: file libc.so.6 Have a look if the architecture is fine. I do not have the sources in front of me, so please give feedback if things are going wrong. Your application is compiled in a chroot environment (see man chroot). The folder /home/Desktop/poky-dylan-9.0.0/build/tmp/deploy/images/mountpoint acts as the new rootfolder for your application. This is configured in the -sysroot option of your configure script. This is not valid for gcc, because the -no-gcc-sysroot is on. So the linker is looking to your native /lib/ folder to find the libraries. They are not there of course.

"ant -version" returns /usr/bin/build-classpath: error: Some specified jars were not found
It looks like you may have missed part of an installation step. Set environmental variables JAVA_HOME to your Java environment, ANT_HOME to the directory you uncompressed Ant to, and add ${ANT_HOME}/bin (Unix) or %ANT_HOME%/bin (Windows) to your PATH. See Setup for details. A lot of JAR files used by Ant are stored in your ${ANT_HOME}/lib directory, so Ant needs to know where this is. Be sure to set the ANT_HOME environment variable and set ${ANT_HOME}/bin in your path. If there's a JAR file missing from your installation, you might just need to manually download it and install it in your ${ANT_HOME}/lib directory. There are a lot of tasks that don't work on a clean Ant installation and need the right JAR installed.

How to start init.d script on bootup in embedded linux. I dont have update-rc.d. Is there any other way to start init.d script on linux boot?
You can edit the /etc/inittab file. Also, there are 2 other alternatives to update-rc.d: Rcconf - Rcconf allows you to control which services are started when the system boots up or reboots. It displays a menu of all the services which could be started at boot. The ones that are configured to do so are marked and you can toggle individual services on and off. This tool configures system services in connection with system runlevels. It turns on/off services using the scripts in /etc/init.d/. File-rc - Alternative boot mechanism using a single configuration file This package provides an alternative mechanism to boot the system, to shut it down and to change runlevels. The /etc/rc?.d/* links will be converted into one single configuration file /etc/runlevel.conf inste

PyFITS installation error python version 3.3 is needed, which was not found in registry
This problem is actually addressed in the latest Astropy installation troubleshooting docs: http://docs.astropy.org/en/v0.2.4/install.html#the-windows-installer-can-t-find-python-in-the-registry This issue is not unique to PyFITS, and has to do with whether or not the installation executable was built with UAC support, as well as whether your Python installation was installed "For all users" or "For the current user", as that affects which registry hierarchy Python installs its relevant keys into. The script linked to in that documentation should fix up your registry with the correct entries so that the correct Python installation can be found regardless of how it was installed. But as with anything that messes with the registry please do handle with care.

Web Service returned error : Not Found
It could have something to do with this line. pcs.Endpoint.Address = new System.ServiceModel.EndpointAddress(virtualpath + You are missing the rest of it. Pretty sure this is a compile error though. So either this error is getting eaten and the generic one is popping up or you have some other issue along with this.

Getting error WCF Service Endpoint not found when it is there
Alrighty, I found out what was causing this. Since I had only been developing locally, I had not had this problem before (nor when I deployed to Azure), but apparently running in a local context such as mine, requires "Private Networks (server & client)" capability to work. Of course it would be nicer to get an error corresponding the problem, but at least it's settled now. Any idea why this capability is separated from the "internet" capability ?

'Method not found' error with Windows Service
Turns out that Joachim was onto something. The dll was an older reference but not by accident but more fault to InstallShield LE that is built into VS2012. My project was referencing the correct dll and when I was building the setup project, I made sure to select the output for my project but when it was being built, it was referencing an older version of that DLL. No matter how many times I deleted the Setup project and recreated it, it always kept that older reference. I ended up completely removing the project that created the DLL and recreating it with a different name, then InstallShield picked up the correct dll and it worked. Hope this helps someone else!

HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found when accesing SVC service
There are myriads of possible causes. In general, the target resource at given URL is not found, so it may be simply missing, misconfigured, not started, etc. First - check the server logs, they usually contain more detailed information about the issue. Also, please doublecheck that the service really is up and running. Connect to the www server and check it via localhost not ip.com. I'm not an expert, but judging from the snippet you provided, it seems to be WCF service, the Handler: StaticFile seems very odd. It seems like the IIS misinterpretes your request as a StaticFile (a resource read from the disks and just passed-through without any further processing) which for me seems perfectly wrong. You may have not installed the service properly, or have url mappings and/or handlers mes

The posted sample works if your target variable is of type char, so I assume that you are doing something wrong in the assignment. Maybe you are calling a function which requires a char[] in wich case you should use funct(letterGrade) without the [0]. If your problem persists you should post a bit more code. The matlab version corresponds to gcc-4.5 or earlier, but you have some code that was compiled with gcc-4.6 (or later). You must arrange for your executable to pick up a newer libstdc++.so.6. I don't have sudo right to edit system files. You could copy a sufficiently new version of libstdc++.so.6 to ~/lib64, then export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$HOME/lib64.

Why does one of the two programs cause "*** glibc detected *** double free or corruption" error while the other not?
The problem is that you are not exiting the loop after erasing the element. Iterators pointing to an erased element are invalidated. while(itr1!=list1.end()) { if(itr1->num==ref) { list1.erase(itr1); break; } else {itr1++;} } Have you considered using remove_if? It might be less efficient if you know that you have only one element with that value in the list (remove_if search all occurrencies).

Why glibc's fclose(NULL) cause segmentation fault instead of returning error?
fclose requires as its argument a FILE pointer obtained either by fopen, one of the standard streams stdin, stdout, or stderr, or in some other implementation-defined way. A null pointer is not one of these, so the behavior is undefined, just like fclose((FILE *)0xdeadbeef) would be. NULL is not special in C; aside from the fact that it's guaranteed to compare not-equal to any valid pointer, it's just like any other invalid pointer, and using it invokes undefined behavior except when the interface you're passing it to documents as part of its contract that NULL has some special meaning to it. Further, returning with an error would be valid (since the behavior is undefined anyway) but harmful behavior for an implementation, because it hides the undefined behavior. The preferable result of

Custom Linux service status message using Java Service Wrapper
I got a half-solution. Inspecting the wrapper script code, as suggested by @Naytzyrhc, I found that the wrapper lib reads 3 files to create the status message: bin/my-app.pid to print the PID of the running process; bin/my-app.status to print the status of the wrapper itself; bin/my-app.java.status to print the status of the wrapped application. So, in the application code, to override the status message, just write the message in the my-app.java.status file. There's only one gotcha: if the status message contains line breaks, the service my-app status doesn't print them, because it uses the echo command (as stated in this question Capturing multiple line output to a bash variable). To solve this problem, just change the line from: eval echo `gettext '$APP_LONG_NAME is running: PID:$

Hosting WCF Service in a Windows Service - and start some stuff at the beginning
Whether this is viable in your circumstance or not will depend on your service design but the two general approaches I would consider for exposing service A to B with the overall design you've presented: pass a reference to the main service instance to the WCF / monitoring service in the constructor if using something like Castle Windsor, register your main service as a singleton so the monitoring service can access the main service instance from various points It's fine It's not necessary at all, but depending on the nature of the main service it might make sense to expose the monitoring functionality in a consistent manner with the primary functionality.

Start an android service inside the same service to make a loop
You could create a thread in your service and put while loop there like this: new Thread(new Runnable(){ public void run() { // TODO Auto-generated method stub while(true) { Thread.sleep(60000) //REST OF CODE HERE// } } }).start(); But this is an easy quick fix, overall, creating a thread that sleeps all the time is not a good solution for mobile devices. You should consider using AlarmManager instead. It handles recurring events very well and was specifically designed for similar scenarios.

From the NSLog output it seems that NSArray* TranslatedText = [json objectForKey:@"text"]; is an array of strings, not an array of dictionaries.
