Windows phone 8 GeoFencing using Nokia Maps
The new GeoCoordinateWatcher API deals with this in Windows Phone 8. Geofencing and Geolocation in WP8 formed a major part of the discussion in a recent webinar on the subject - the slides can be found here. Rather than repeat the code here, I would suggest that you look at the Track My Position example which can be found in the Windows Phone 8 Maps Examples project on projects.developer.nokia.com

How to get the name of a place in Nokia Maps on Windows Phone 8?
You can use the ReverseGeocodeQuery class. var rgc = new ReverseGeocodeQuery(); rgc.QueryCompleted += rgc_QueryCompleted; rgc.GeoCoordinate = myGeoCoord; //or create new gc with your current lat/lon info rgc.QueryAsync(); You can then get the data from within your rgc_QueryCompleted event handler using the Result property of the event args passed in.

How does Android integrate hardware drivers provided by the phone manufacturer?
You may have to install the drivers on your own for some devices if you are on a PC. You can go to that phone manufacturer's website and they have a download link. Mac seems a little better in finding the device drivers

What is the difference between misc drivers and char drivers?
Edit: I thought you were talking about drivers/misc drivers, but I see you're refering to character drivers using misc_register (and all the API in drivers/char/misc.c). You should specify this in your question. In this case, the misc API seems to make your life easier when you're writing a small character driver and do not want to need to allocate a new major number only to use one minor number, for example. It simplifies things, but all the file operations are still available using the fops member of struct miscdevice. The basic difference is you only get one minor number per misc device. My previous, unrelated answer was, for the record: Have a quick look at drivers/misc: you won't find any "misc core" out there. This means: misc is not a device class; it's just a bunch of drivers th

Why is the Phonegap sample app for accelerometer not able to show phone accelerometer data on Nokia 5800?
I got the answer at Phonegap forum. In the line: <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" src="cordova-x.x.x.js"></script> src should be set to "cordova.js".

Retrieving phone number from SIM card error
See this thread for more information on this issue. Specifically, the below comment on the accepted answer: Actually, not so perfect. Last time I tried this method, it reported the phone number that my phone originally had, before my old mobile number was ported over to it. It probably still does, as the Settings app still shows that defunct number. Also, there are reports that some SIMs cause this method to return null. That being said, I'm not aware of a better answer. – CommonsWare It seems that getting a user's phone number is not as simple as asking the OS to hand it over, for reasons beyond the control of the developer. An alternative is to populate whichever field you need with the number the OS gives, but also let the user edit the phone number in case the OS is wrong.

Secure java card access in windows phone 8
There is something in place through the Wallet and SecureElement APIs which allows you to access the UICC. This requires some privileges. This was developed in the context of NFC payment, and may require a specific SIM. Probably more APIs will emerge in the next release of Windows Phone 8.

Card.io usage in android. Displaying Credit card number and Expiry date
Maybe I missed it but I dont see anything wrong with the code. The problem may be in your XML so I thought I would make it easy for you. Send the user to another activity when the scan is completed. Copy this in the appropriate place. Create a new xml.file and see if this works. If you have any problems tell me. This is working fine for me. private Button scanButton; } @Override protected void onResume() { super.onResume(); if (CardIOActivity.canReadCardWithCamera(this)) { scanButton.setText("Charge"); } else { scanButton.setText("Charge"); } } final String TAG = getClass().getName(); private int MY_SCAN_REQUEST_CODE = 100; // arbitrary int public void onScanPress(View v) { // This method is set up as an onClick handler in the layout xml // e.g. and

What is the difference between twitter photo card and summary with large image card?
The difference between a summary_large_image card and a photo card is what occurs when the user clicks on the image in the card: In the case of a summary_large_image card, a click on the image opens the link in a new tab (or in a browser on smartphones). In the case of a photo card, a click on the image opens a bigger version of the image in the same browser window (or displays the image full-screen on smartphones).

Im trying to figure out how to deal a card from the deck in my card game class
yeah, now that i've thinked about, "hand" was empty because you fill it from "deck" that is in turn empty. Maybe you can define a method "initDeck" in deck class that fills the deck with random cards, and call it from game constructor. or maybe you already do this out of the game class, but in that case you should pass the deck to game!

Java Card: How to load SIM applet to real smart card?
It might not work because the SIM application might have dependencies to APIs that are not present in the JCOP cards (for instance ETSI 102 705). But then it is worth trying. Make sure that the file format is compatible between the tools (a cap file is not always a cap file by the way; a real cap file is a zip, some tools prefer IJC files). Try using the cap file from the Gemalto tool in the jcManager. If it does not work you can try GPShell. The main challenge is to have the keys to your target, and then the right tool.

Coordinate Id of same card that is read by two different card readers
Its rather hard to understand just exactly what your wanting, but in the bottom you state: 'in other words, i want to convert this array of bytes to corresponding hex code'. You can perform that operation like so: public static string ByteArrayToString(byte[] ba) { StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(ba.Length * 2); foreach (byte b in ba) { sb.AppendFormat("{0:x2}", b); } return sb.ToString(); } Just pass in your Byte array and the result will be your hex conversion in string format. Edit: This will probably yield the same results, but try this: byte[ ] bytes = {0, 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 255 } Console.WriteLine( BitConverter.ToString( bytes ) );

Card.io SDK gives partial credit card number
Josh from card.io here. The sample code you're probably looking at reads: - (void)userDidProvideCreditCardInfo:(CardIOCreditCardInfo *)info inPaymentViewController:(CardIOPaymentViewController *)scanViewController { // The full card number is available as info.cardNumber, but don't log that! NSLog(@"Received card info. Number: %@, expiry: %02i/%i, cvv: %@.", info.redactedCardNumber, info.expiryMonth, info.expiryYear, info.cvv); // Use the card info... [scanViewController dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; } Note the comment above the NSLog call. What is being logged is info.redactedCardNumber. You want info.cardNumber instead. See the header files, which are pretty well documented, for more details. The older version of the SDK is has been publicly deprecated for nearly a

Card holder's name in APDU commands (ICC Card)
Reading the card holders name and other info on a chip & pin card is not as simple as you might think. It's not as simple as just one straight forward APDU , there are several more steps you have to go through first. First you need to perform an application selection. How you do this, depends on your card and your terminal. There are 2 standard ways. 1) Application file selection 2) AID Scanning For type 1, you typically call a known file name using the select file apdu (NOTE: I'm not going to implement full apdu sentences in what I type here as there is just too much data to try and represent, if there is enough attention to this post then I might do a blog entry) The file name to select for most EMV standard cards is '1PAY.SYS.DDF01' or '2PAY.SYS.DDF01' for contactless ca

Difference between HAL and Drivers
From this doc HAL The hardware abstraction layer defines the standard interface that the camera service calls into and that you must implement to have your camera hardware function correctly. Kernel driver The camera's driver interacts with the actual camera hardware and your implementation of the HAL. The camera and driver must support YV12 and NV21 image formats to provide support for previewing the camera image on the display and video recording.

There is no way to play a sound in the background of the app. The following example will download the file and the user will play it in the native audio player. Example: <a href="#" onclick="mwl.loadURL('path_to_file.mp3');">Play sound</a>

Laravel Session Drivers?
It's quite easy. Driver defines where session data will be stored. native - session will be handled by internal PHP rutines cookie - session will be stored in cookies database - session will be stored in database (by default in table sessions) memcached/redis - use one of this daemons as a session storage array - session will be stored in a plain array (it's handled by MockArraySessionStorage) array driver means that session is only per request (stored during PHP runtime), and after that it disappears :)

Nokia Here Maps Heatmap Overlay holes

Implementing Birds Eye map mode in WP8 Nokia Maps
Specify the MapCartographicMode for the map style that you want, and then set the Pitch property to a value between 0 and 180. 0 is the default value, which gives the flat map view. If you use a value around 60, this gives you a view that is more like the driving mode found in SatNav apps. Just tweak it to give the effect that you want. If you want something more akin to the Bing "Birds Eye" view, then you will need to adjust the pitch based on the ZoomLevel (there is a ZoomLevelChanged or you could bind it to a view model property).

How to install CUDA 5.5 drivers in FC18?
If you are on 64-bit FC18, and you are having trouble with the RPM method, just use the installer method instead. You can find the CUDA 5.5 kits here. Here is the direct link to the installer. Don't forget the getting started guide. After you've finished with the installer, if it puts a driver version that you don't want on your system, you can go back and re-install your 319.32 driver. Or you can just opt-out of the driver install step when using the installer method. I would check to see if the cuda 5.5 installed driver works before switching back to 319.32. My sense is that 319.32 should be OK with CUDA 5.5, but you may need to find a newer NVIDIA driver that works with your video card and also works with CUDA. The driver that comes with CUDA 5.5 should work with most or all GPU

Use precompiled drivers to build aosp
You should be able to use pre-compiled drivers. Even building AOSP for some of the nexus devices requires downloading the binary blobs and adding them into your source tree so that the images are built and able to interact with some of the hardware like the sensors and camera in some cases. So what you are trying to do should be possible. Hope that helps.

Linux Device Drivers 3rd Ed and 3.2 kernel
I like LDD3. The teaching style is outstanding. I see the most references to that text in SO, LWN etc. I tried just reading it, that had limited value. It was better to get the examples built and running, play some e.g. with scull, then study the text hard to see how the code was really working. But, to do that with modern kernels, you need updated code. I found martinezjavier code built OK with 3.1 kernel (I deleted tty from Makefile, and added simple_open() definition) then life was great. Also I found some nice work from cs.fsu, including online cross-reference. Cooperstein text also exists, and has exercise solutions with multiple kernel versions, but I haven't used this text.
