safari 5.1.9 snow leopard
This might be your issue: div.navigation-wrapper { top: 0px; left: 0px; right: 0px; } You should only specify either left or right values, not both. Also, I don't really know because there is no way to test my code because you have not given us much context, as Barmar noted.

XML Error when running on MAC Snow Leopard
Recent versions of XML::LibXML have string overloading for XML::LibXML::Element objects. So the following script would show different output with different XML::LibXML versions: use strict; use warnings; use XML::LibXML; my $doc = XML::LibXML->new->parse_string(<<EOF); <test> <foo>hello</foo> </test> EOF my($node) = $doc->findnodes('/test/foo'); print $node, " "; On an old system with XML::LibXML 1.69 installed the output is: XML::LibXML::Element=SCALAR(0x8259700) On a newer system with 2.0014 installed the output is: <foo>hello</foo>

Desperately trying to build open source tools (octave) on a Mac 10.6 Snow Leopard (involves Xcode, gcc, fink)
You can still get XCode. You just have to be registered on Apple Developer, but you do not have to pay for the license. You then download it through the Mac App store, or you can get a link that opens it in the App store here. Finally, you have to install the command line tools from within Xcode. These can be found under the Components tab of the Download Preferences panel. Let me know if that does not help. My iMac running 10.6 is currently in for repairs, so I am on my 10.7 laptop and cannot test all the specifics yet.

Ruby Shoes won't start in Leopard
Have you tried building shoes 4? You might want to check it out, and check the readme. I can confirm it working on my 10.6 mac, which is about as close to leopard as you can find. Just try the directions for *nix and it should work, as far as I know.

Web Api Performance gain over MVC
ASP.net Web api support both JSON and xml. Web Api is for implement rest web service on top of MVC application. It would add extra complexity for the application but you implement web api related method in separate controller. Rest web services are usually faster than Normal SOAP web services. In your case if your clients are just a web client no need to implement web services. But If you need to share service for different client (widows applications, windows services, third party applications) implement rest service using web API

Explicit render calls using RENDERMODE_WHEN_DIRTY, performance gain for games?
Real-time applications (such as games) benefit greatly from having a smooth framerate (i.e. consistent frames per second AND consistent render time per frame). For this reason it is usually best to use a render as fast as possible approach, and Android should sync everything up nicely to it's refresh rate. I would not recommend trying to do a better job of synching the rendering than Android does internally, even though you are developing for a single target it could change in the future with OS updates. See this (non-programming) article for some more info about how frame rate and frame time influence perceived smoothness.

Do I need screenshots for both 7-inch and 10-inch Android tablets?
Screenshots have nothing to do with it. The settings in your android manifest file control which devices your app is available to. You can set a screen size or density restriction in your manifest. Look at supports-screens and compatible-screens for an idea on how to accomplish this.

which one is better in terms of performance, the early binding or late binding in Delphi COM objects
Which one is better in terms of performance? Early bound is quicker than late bound. Late bound method dispatch involves the following: Looking up the entry point from the name. Assembling the parameters to be passed to the method, and performing any necessary type conversions. Calling the function. Unmarshalling any out parameters and the return value. Many of these steps are not present at all for early bound dispatch. Of course, if the function does anything significant at all, the performance different during method dispatch may well not be detectable.

Label displacement for 3.5 inch screen and 4 inch screen
Mikkel, it depends if you are using Autolayout or not. To check if it's enabled, go to the File Inspector (Command+Alt+1) and see if the checkbox Use Autolayout is on or off). If you are not using Autolayout: you will need to configure the AutoResizing Masks. In order to do so, go to the Size Inspector (Command+Alt+5). Then, for each label, you set the left margin and the top margin as fixed (the red line, not the arrow). If you are using Autolayout: in the same size inspector, configure correctly the constraints to left and top as fixed, and it should be fine.

How to do GPU programming on Macbook Air?
By GPU Programming I am assuming you mean high performance parallel calculations on the GPU without graphics (since you mention OpenCL and CUDA). If so this link may be helpful: https://anteru.net/2012/11/03/2009/. And that card definitely can't use CUDA.

makeCluster function in R snow hangs indefinitely
Unfortunately, there are a lot of things that can go wrong when creating a snow (or parallel) cluster object, and the most common failure mode is to hang indefinitely. The problem is that makeSOCKcluster launches the cluster workers one by one, and each worker (if successfully started) must make a socket connection back to the master before the master proceeds to launch the next worker. If any of the workers fail to connect back to the master, makeSOCKcluster will hang without any error message. The worker may issue an error message, but by default any error message is redirected to /dev/null. In addition to ssh problems, makeSOCKcluster could hang because: R not installed on a worker machine snow not installed on a the worker machine R or snow not installed in the same location as the

Run terminal inside vim on a macbook?
Why don't you do things the other way around? You can use a terminal multiplexer such as Tmux and split a terminal window into two panes using C-b %. Inside the second pane you can run macvim inside a terminal with $ mvim -v You can navigate between the two panes with C-b o, (And do much more, but I'll leave it up to you to discover!) Doing things this way around is much more sane in my opinion, you get the full power of both the terminal and vim without having to hack around with Vim too much (Plus Tmux is very handy for many other uses). I hope doing things this way around is appealing enough for you!

Macbook Pro 15", backspace not working with VIM?
Most likely you are running vim in compatible mode. Create a file called ~/.vimrc and put the following lines in it. set nocompatible set backspace=indent, eol, start Setting the backspace option should change the backspace key to behave how you expect it to. However these should be set by the system vimrc on mac.

Results of workers not returned properly - snow - debug
The checkForRemoteErrors function is called by parLapply and clusterApply to check for task errors, and it will throw an error if any of the tasks failed. Unfortunately, although it displays the error message, it doesn't provide any information about what worker code caused the error. But if you modify your worker/task function to catch errors, you can retain some extra information that may be helpful in determining where the error occurred. For example, here's a simple snow program that fails. Note that it uses outfile='' when creating the cluster so that output from the program is displayed, which by itself is a very useful debugging technique: library(snow) cl <- makeSOCKcluster(2, outfile='') problem <- function(i) { if (NA) j <- 999 else j <- i 2 * j } r

DataModelling or ER model building software for MacBook and MYSQL
You won't get automatic updates (I understand automatic updates as something that happens in the background without any action from you). MySQL Workbench however has a two-way sync that you can use to update your models at the same time you update your schema (from the model). You can select to do only one direction, but you have to trigger synchronization yourself.

OpenCV- Webcam frame not working on macbook in Java
it's been a while since this question was asked, but since I had essentially the same problem, I will post a solution (found here) (it's a rather simple fix actually for a stupid problem): The camera needs time to initialize (not sure what the gory hardware details are, but there you go). To fix it I simply added Thread.sleep(1000), and it started working. A slightly better fix may be to wrap this in a loop which retries every 1000ms or so until the returned Mat is not empty. Hope someone benefits from this :-) EDIT: I should have read your code first. Silly me, apologies. The problem seemed very similar to mine, so I assumed it was the same.

How to take a snapshot of the entire system of Macbook Pro OS x 10.8 Mountain Lion
I dunno about "graceful" but Carbon Copy Cloner is definitely an easy solution for rolling back to a previous state. You can make an exact clone of your drive, then restore it back if something goes horribly wrong. I use CCC to make periodic backups of my Macs, as a sort of secondary backup to time-machine, which is easy to use but which I don't have total confidence in.

For anyone else who stumbles onto this: My question is really answered at Pushing git repository to Xcode. In summary, since iMac is on essentially all the time, and since git (appropriately) abhores pushing to a non-bare repository, the (one) solution to syncing is to set up a bare repository on the imac, and push and pull from this for both working copies.

Displaying Java BufferedImage on MacBook with Retina display does not work
It looks like the host peer component is expecting to render an image with one color model but encountering another. There are just too many ways for this to go wrong for a definitive answer, but everal things bear closer scrutiny: Verify that your BufferedImage has a compatible color model and space, for example. Consider scaling with AffineTransformOp, outlined here, as it can create a "destination image with the correct size and number of bands." While done() is executed on the event dispatch thread, verify hat the rest of your program is correctly synchronized.

How to gain root privileges for iOS app?
What step 4 is telling you: Open the original executable file and delete its contents (the contents are now stored in the previously copied and renamed binary). is simply that you have moved the executable file for your app to a new filename, and you should replace it with a script with the name of the original executable. Example If you build an app named HelloWorld, Xcode will create a HelloWorld.app directory, with a file named HelloWorld inside it, which is executable. The answer you link to suggests basically renaming the executable to something like MobileHelloWorld. Once you've done that, create a new file in the HelloWorld.app directory called HelloWorld, and edit it with a text editor to give it this content: #!/bin/bash dir=$(dirname "$0") exec "${dir}"/MobileHello

No, you've gained nothing here. Even if you made it return Task (so that the caller could check when everything had finished) you'd be better off without async: public Task Handle<T>(T entry) { return Task.Run(() => { Parallel.ForEach(_handlers, pair => { pair.Value.Invoke(_reference, new object[] { entry }); }); }); }
