Do you want the application to accept incoming network connection?
You can resolve this by signing the offending application binary yourself. Disclaimer: Signing an application yourself will make an application appear more secure to the operating system, when in reality it isn’t. Only sign applications that you are 100% sure are not spyware or otherwise malicious. If you have any doubts, just uninstall/reinstall. Part 1: Create a Signing Identity The solution I’m going for – signing the app myself – requires that I create a Signing Identity, also known as Signing Certificate. This is very easy to do: Open Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access. From the Keychain Access menu, choose Certificate Assistant > Create a Certificate. Fill in a name for the certificate. This name appears in the Keychain Access utility as the name of the certific

Close all underlying network connections
The underlying .Net architecture will maintain the connection (via the KeepAlive) in order to improve overall network performance. The easiest solution is to just set the KeepAlive to false on all your connections so that they will not maintain those invalid states. The downside is that you'll increase your traffic since they will have to re-establish connections every time. Also, since you do not have access to the keepalive (or the HTTPWebRequest object), you'll have to find a way to kill the connections outside of the request settings. There are two approaches you can take to get .Net to release these connections. Both of them involve getting down to the ServicePoint level and dealing with connection groups. CloseConnectionGroups When you create your HTTPWebRequest, you can give

How do I model social network connections in neo4j?
Not sure if I understand you requirements correctly, but in general, it's good to model real world entities as nodes and relationships between things, quite naturally, as relationships. In your case, I'd go one of the two following ways, depending on how much you want to do with their social media accounts. 1) A node for each social media, e.g. (LinkedIn), (Twitter), (Facebook). Then a single relationship type, call it HAS_ACCOUNT, which links (user) nodes to accounts. For example: (user1)-[:HAS_ACCOUNT]->(LinkedIn) 2) If you find you're storing too many properties in the HAS_ACCOUNT relationship, or even that you feel like it should be linked to something else (e.g. links between social media accounts), create a node for each account the user has. (user1)-[:HAS_ACCOUNT]->(user

How to analyze which processes are creating (short-lived) local network connections to my service?
You could always have a look at a very handy tool called Process Monitor. It was developed by Mark Russinovich, and is now part of a Microsoft toolset. It allows you to monitor lots of events, including thread creation, registry access, file access, and network activity. All of these events are on a per-process basis, so you should be able to use the filters to see what process is connecting to a specific port local port. I'm not sure if this would include UDP (which is generally connectionless), but certainly a quick test shows TCP Connect, Disconnect, Send and Receive events. It's a very handy tool to add to your programming toolbox anyway.

Monitor the IP addresses from connections being made from all apps using the network without rooting the Android phone
For all those who are curious about this same issue, I was able to finally figure out how to accomplish this task, without rooting the phone or using a VPN service. The key to solving this issue, is to look in the following directory on the phone: /proc/net/(tcp, tcp6, udp, udp6, etc) Also, here is some code from an open source project that does basically what I was looking for. /* * Copyright (C) 2010 The Android Open Source Project * * Licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0 (the "License"); * you may not use this file except in compliance with the License. * You may obtain a copy of the License at * * http://www.apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0 * * Unless required by applicable law or agreed to in writing, software * distributed under the License is distrib

store the incoming messages in sorted order(as per the incoming numbers)
Well, you could store those messages as another entry in sms_inbox table, but it would be helpful to store a timestamp as well to be able to distinguish each message. When you query you could pass the phone number as what is the phone number you're interested into: SELECT * from sms_inbox where 'SENDER_NUMBER' = '?' Or you could make a select ordered by SENDER_NUMBER: SELECT * from sms_inbox order by 'SENDER_NUMBER' desc; In the end it all depends on the use-cases you have. You could also use another table for keeping only the messages for a number and map a one-to-many relationship.

eclipse-how to add existing source folder from remote network drive
Close eclipse before shutting down, restart eclipse after resume. No, really - Windows disconnects remote drives during sleep: network adapter is suspended, thus disconnecting from the network, thus no more remote drives. During resume, the network stack takes more time to resume than the remote drive stack, thus no more remote drive. I think you can mark the remote drive to be available when offline (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows-vista/working-with-network-files-when-you-are-offline), but I've never used this feature of Windows.

IIS SQL Server: Connection Pool: Why are new connections made instead of reusing existing connections?
If the connections are coming from a different machine, the connections can't be pooled. A connection required both endpoints to be a connection. If you are using connection pooling correctly, applications instantiate a connection (from the pool), use the connection, then drop it as soon as exchange is complete. If you a writing a single-threaded desktop app, another common and simple strategy is to open a connection, and just leave that connection open as long as the application is running. You can control how many connections are created, etc. see MS article for more details related to connection pooling. IIRC, connection pools are not shared unless the connection string is identical either.

DB's long-live connections or on-demand connections?
You don't say what database access library you are using (ODBC, ado.net, other?). Opening and closing database connections is a relatively expensive operation. You should be using some sort of connection pooling scheme in your db access framework. A pool of connections is opened for a period of time, and when your app opens a connection it will get handed an already open connection from a pool. That will make it more efficient. Go read about connection pooling for SQL Server

Too many connections Error due to many sleep connections
A good solution for this is to put your connection into a function, then add a destructor to close the connection for you. That way the connection automatically closes the after the last time the mysql connection is called. class DbConn { public $connection; public function __construct($host, $name, $user, &$pass) { $this->connection = mysql_connect(mysql_connect($host, $user, $pass); if(mysql_connect_errno) { echo mysql_connect_error; } else { mysql_select_db($name, $this->connection); } unset($pass); //Clear password for security. } public function __destruct() { mysql_close($this->connection); } } That should take care of most open connections as they will close before the end o

"Social Network Analysis Labs in R" (Stanford tutorials): Confusion over graph object / network class
I strongly suspect that the tutorial you are trying to follow was developed for igraph version 0.5.4 or earlier. At that time, vertices and edges in an igraph object were indexed from zero instead of one, and the tutorial seems to account for this, judging from the following comment in the tutorial: # IMPORTANT NOTE: Unlike in most languages, R objects are numbered # from 1 instead of 0, so if you want the first element in a # vector, you would reference it by vector_name[1]. HOWEVER, # igraph objects are numbered starting from 0. This can lead to # lots of confusion, since it's not always obvious at first which # objects are native to R and which belong to igraph. Since igraph 0.6, this is not true anymore; vertices and edges in the R interface of igraph are indexed from 1 just like

android network change broadcast receiver and getting network type
For what you say I understand you're not taking into account that every time the receiver is triggered it creates a new instance, which is destroyed after its work. Even with static variables you don't have persistent values. One solution that worked for me is to use SharedPreferences. Be aware that on API11+ you should use the flag MODE_MULTI_PROCESS, something like this: if (Build.VERSION.SDK_INT>=11) mySettings=context.getSharedPreferences("MyPrefs",Context.MODE_MULTI_PROCESS); else mySettings=context.getSharedPreferences("MyPrefs",0); int netType = mySettings.getBoolean("netType",0); Hope it helps...

HybridAuth working within local network, but not when accessed outside of my network
I don't think that most of the OAuth2 providers will accept answers that are not coming from configured callback url. So making redirects with the register will most likely fail. Instead, try to configure your callback to look like: http://www.yourdomain.com:openPort/hybridauth-2.1.2/hybridauth/index.php Where openPort is a port number that your ISP will not block. Then in the router you can make port forwarding openPort->80 or you just can start your web server to openPort and make sure the router is not blocking the requests.

RHQ JBoss operations network (JON) and monitoring network
Why would you not use the built in monitoring capability of LoadRunner, which would then allow you to pull all of your business data (response times and data points) together with your monitoring data into the same data set for analysis purposes? By having decoupled data sets you are making your challenge of identifying root cause that much more difficult. If you were planning on exporting data from JON|RHQ to LoadRunner analysis or exporting both to a tool such as SAS, SPSS or R for statistical analysis you would be able to reconcile the decoupled data sets. (see manual for information on importing data into Analysis for the types and formats supported)

The svn update will attempt to merge any changes from the server into the files you changed locally. It is highly unlikely that your changes would be reverted due to the update. What you can do before performing your commit is to do an svn log from the root of your checkout and examining the changes committed by others to the server while you were working on your local checkout. Then, when you perform the svn update on your side, you will know what to expect. If you really want to perform the update without changing anything, you could do it using this: > cd path/to/root/of/checkout/ > svn up --depth EMPTY ... but I haven't ever needed to do that and I
