why is mysql database deactivated on xampp status but green on the xampp control panel applocation?
i came up with an ideal solution, the xampp folder in C: was corrupted after the OS crashed, therefore there were missing files which led to re-installation of xampp but since the registry was not cleared, the application could not take control of the apache & mysql ports, i used a registry cleaner and re-installed xampp again and this time it worked from the inset. Thanks for all the comments.

Latest Xampp using mysql from Xampp version 1.4.4
Don't waste time combining old with new parts. If you (i guess) need to re-use your old databases, just use the latest XAMPP verison and backup all your databases folders XAMPP/xamppfiles/var/mysql/, which you'll can move then into the new directory located in XAMPP/xamppfiles/var/mysql/. they are just folders you can backup and re-use ;)

How do I use MySQL through XAMPP?
XAMPP only offers MySQL (Database Server) & Apache (Webserver) in one setup and you can manage them with the xampp starter. After the successful installation navigate to your xampp folder and execute the xampp-control.exe Press the start Button at the mysql row. Now you've successfully started mysql. Now there are 2 different ways to administrate your mysql server and its databases. But at first you have to set/change the MySQL Root password. Start the Apache server and type localhost or 127.0.0.1 in your browser's address bar. If you haven't deleted anything from the htdocs folder the xampp status page appears. Navigate to security settings and change your mysql root password. Now, you can browse to your phpmyadmin under http://localhost/phpmyadmin or download a windows mysql c

MySQL won't start on XAMPP server
Check the log files for MySQL. You will find them in this directory: C:xamppmysqldata (assuming standard install location of xampp) Also check if no other program or service uses the default MySql port. You can do this by using this command: netstat -an | findstr "3306" If anything shows up the default mysql port is in use.

MySQL Database won't start XAMPP
I had the same experience with xampp but I wasn't performing an update, this was a clean install. I have had good luck running MAMP right out of the box. This isn't exactly a direct answer to your problem, but if you just wanted to install something and get work done, MAMP could be an option. I did a couple of hours of googling and I still haven't figured out the xampp issue here...

How to test a php login connected to a mysql db through xampp?
Here in your script you are not being able to include your connect_to_mysql.php file. include "../storescripts/connect_to_mysql.php"; You are trying to provide relative path. Make sure you are properly able to access that file from relative path you are including. i.e. your admin_login.php file. You can try passing absolute path in your include: include "C:xampphtdocsmyonlinestorestorescriptsconnect_to_mysql.php"; please check path in your file manager if it is correct absolute path.

Lost table on failed removal of MySQL foreign key
OK, so for anyone who finds this at some point with the same issue, here's what I think was happening: I had another foreign key on the table (not shown above) that referenced a table that had been renamed prior to trying to drop the FK above. I think that the presence of that FK was what was causing the error on my ALTER TABLE call. MySQL basically rebuilds the table schema during ALTER TABLE calls - it does not make incremental changes. As a result, if you have other things wrong with the table schema, make sure you identify them and fix them as well if you're losing tables randomly. Oh, and MySQL REALLY should handle this better. My god.

Lost or corrupt mysql table after computer is turned off or restarted
I've been having the same problem for the past week. I'm finding the InnoDB databases are getting corrupted when I have open connections to the databases and I shut off/restart the computer. I had installed mysql 5.6 unintentionally via homebrew upgrade on my Mac. I just rolled mysql back to 5.5.29 following the instructions below. After the downgrade back to 5.5, I set up my databases again, opened a bunch of connections, and then shutdown the computer. Upon reboot, I had no corruptions. Hopefully it'll stay that way! Note: paths may be different for your system Uninstall 5.6 mysql via homebrew $ brew uninstall mysql $ rm -rf /usr/local/var/mysql Install 5.5.29 mysql via homebrew $ cd /usr/local/Library/Formula $ git checkout -b mysql-5.5.29 336c97637c5449018cde59f7d2a87a298692da

JOINing 3 tables, SUM() values from 2 of the tables (MYSQL)
You should be able to use the following code which uses subqueries with both aggregates to get the result: select i.item_id, i.item_name, coalesce(p.TotalBought, 0)TotalBought, coalesce(v.vote_count, 0) vote_count from items i left join ( select item_id, count(*) TotalBought from purchases where purchase_status = 'bought' group by item_id ) p on i.item_id = p.item_id left join ( select item_id, sum(vote) vote_count from votes group by item_id ) v on i.item_id = v.item_id; See SQL Fiddle with Demo. You could also write this without two subqueries but you will need to place the WHERE filter of purchase_status on the JOIN: select i.item_id, i.item_name, count(p.item_id) TotalBought, coalesce(v.vote_count, 0) vote_count from items i left join purchases p o

"ERROR 2013 (HY000): Lost connection to MySQL server during query" while dropping database
I believe it has to do with InnoDB table corruption. I too had a similar issue and was able to pinpoint it to a single table. I'm still in the process of correcting the issue through duplicating the table and removing the single record that is bad in my case. This link helped me significantly: Recovering InnoDB Table Corruption Sorry for incomplete answer, but this helped me quite a bit once I found it.

IIS php Mysql - databse insert value work on XAMPP & WAMP but does not work on IIS
The MySQL user being used to interact with the database may not have the INSERT Grant for that database. WAMP and XAMPP are both using a mysql user with defined privileges. Have you created the same user with the same privileges on the newly created MySQL instance on your Windows 2008 server? You may consider reading over the MySQL Grant syntax. Utilizing mysql_error() for error trapping could prove useful for troubleshooting as well.

You already seem to know what is happening; the MySQL server is closing the connection. Many database services, including ClearDB, to do this (ie, close inactive connections). Recognise the lost focus event of a DataGrid as a whole, not its controls lost focus
I think that most of us developers (including myself) have misunderstood MVVM widely for a long time. This leads to uneeded overcomplications everywhere as we tend to avoid code-behind at ALL, not really understanding that if we were not to place ANY code/logic in the View layer, there would be no Bindings, no converters, no RelativeSource, no XAML at all. The real spirit of MVVM is to separate logic from UI, not to avoid having any code in the view. This really means that you CAN and SHOULD resolve the Focus issue (which is purely a View concern, btw) via Code-Behind. However this does not mean that you are going to put any application/business logic in the Code-Behind. Simply put, just handle any UI events in code behind and then delegate the logic to the ViewModel: private void

MySQL Join 3 Tables Together
The problem is that neither the images nor the feed table has a good notion for "last" beyond the order you show. I don't see how you can decide which one is in force for a given user in a general way. Your user 1 has images 125.jpg and 126.jpg. Do you plan to keep that scheme? What happens if you insert an image named "some-random-image.jpg"? What is its order relative to the two you have in force now? It's a trivial problem if both the image and title have a timestamp to indicate effective date. If that were true, you could select each one on the basis of latest effective date. In that case you can write a SELECT with two JOINs and a couple of subselects to choose the effective date for the given date. The query would look something like this: SELECT U.ID, U.ALIAS, I.IMAGE, F.
