Unable to move mp4 files to another directory in ubuntu using python
When python I/O is given a filename, it assumes that the file is in the current directory, or somewhere on it's path; if it's not in any of those places, it yields an IOError. Therefore, when you are accessing files in directories other than your current directory, it's important to specific the path to that file. In your code, calling shutils.move with f is just supplying the function a file name---the path to that filename has been stripped off. Therefore, your call to shutils.move should look like shutil.move(os.path.join(root, f), dest)

Unable to create user on Ubuntu on Amazon EC2
You are probably thinking of adduser which has interactive prompts for most of the fields. See this question. useradd and userdel are for creating accounts in scripts where you don't want to be prompted. By default they will only create the user and requires additional command line options to create the home directory etc. You will find it did create the account (look in /etc/passwd) and the complaint about "already exists" confirms this. How do you remember the difference? No idea. Seems to be one of those historical things you just need to know.

Emacs Auctex compile error: "Use M-x make-directory RET RET to create the directory and its parents"
Sometimes AUCTeX gets confused parsing the log of (La)TeX compilation and isn't able to guess the correct line raising the error. In some cases AUCTeX issues an obscure message "Error occured after last TeX file closed", when there are unbalanced parentheses, in your case it suggests you to create a new directory. To help AUCTeX finding the correct line raising the error you can add the -file-line-error option to latex or pdflatex by customizing the variable LaTeX-command-style. To do this add the following code to your .emacs: (setq LaTeX-command-style '(("" "%(PDF)%(latex) -file-line-error %S%(PDFout)"))) See also the AUCTeX FAQ: 8. Why does TeX-next-error (C-c `) fail? When writing the log file, TeX puts information related to a file, including error messages, between a pa

Git : Unable to unlink / cannot create directory, on ignored folder
Finally found the solution here : Applying .gitignore to committed files It's apparently because some files inside has been commited one time, so they are in the repo. If I understand it right, that means it's very important to modify the .gitignore before commiting any file inside, otherwise it can be a mess !

Android unable to create new directory on external storage
File.mkdir() will only create the directory if its parent exists. In this case, the directory you want to create is "videos" and its parent is "NewFolder". "videos" will not be created if "NewFolder" does not exist. If you want to create both directories at once, you should use File.mkdirs() instead.

Jenkins installation - Unable to create the home directory despite its existence and writeability
It looks like the problem may be that jenkins cannot see /home/myuser, and therefore it cannot access the jenkins folder inside this (even though it has write permissions in /home/myuser/jenkins, I believe the fact it can't read /home/myuser causes a problem). Try running the below command and then see if Jenkins works after that: chmod +r /home/myuser

Unable to copy sqlite file from app bundle to documents directory: getting (Cocoa error 260)
This line does not actually check if the file exists: NSString *file = [[[NSBundle mainBundle] resourcePath] stringByAppendingPathComponent:fileName]; All that does is build the path in file. If you want to check whether it exists, you need to use [NSFileManager fileExistsAtPath:]. Or you could go back to using pathForResource:ofType:, which was apparently correct when it returned nil. You don't seem to be copying the file into the bundle at all. This is a problem with your Xcode project configuration.

Unable to create link with DBX chooser error android
I was able to solve my own issues and get this working. On the off chance that someone else has a similar problem i will detail the solution. The first issue was I was that my APP_KEY was incorrect. The next issue was that I was attempting to read from a direct link instead of a content link. The direct link provides the application with a link to the file on the dropbox server whereas the content link provides the application with a cached version of the file. If the file is not present on the device, the sdk downloads a copy for you.

Unable to unzip tar.gz on ubuntu VM
Quote from the manpage: --format= Format of the resulting archive: tar or zip. If this option is not given, and the output file is specified, the format is inferred from the filename if possible (e.g. writing to "foo.zip" makes the output to be in the zip format). Otherwise the output format is tar. So you got probably a .tar file which not compressed, but just named .tar.gz. Try without the -z parameter.

Ubuntu unable to unpack tar.bz2 to /usr/local
You should change it to the path where you've actually put your bzip file. /path/to is a meta directory, meant to indicate the path to where the given file is. So, for example, if you've put the file in your system tmp directory, you would use /tmp/boost_1_54_0.tar.bz2. In the case where it's in /home/Downloads, that's what you'd use. Or, if you're actually in the directory where the file is, you can just use the file name without a path.

Can't read file content from a directory created by CREATE DIRECTORY statement
Possibly been overthinking this... the bfile example should have indicated what's happening, but this assumes that your original question is slightly wrong and you're actually seeing: XML_DATA -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (XMLTYPE) The type being shown in brackets for both queries suggests you're running this in SQL Developer; SQL*Plus hows the actual text rather than the type. If that is the case, to show the contents you can use the GETSTRINGVAL method: SELECT XMLTYPE(bfilename('TMP', 'tmp.xml'), nls_charset_id('UTF8')).getstringval() xml_data FROM dual; ... or if the XML is more than 4000 characters the GETCLOBVAL method. If you're inserting the value i

You need to change @implementation CDB : NSObject to @implementation CDB, then, in your header file, place @interface CDB : NSObject { ...

PHP intermittently unable to load json.so (PHP 5.4.19 on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS)
Since you're saying that the json extension is loaded in phpinfo()'s output you could be dealing with a bug. Have you checked if the module file is actually there in the filesystem? You have the following options: Compile PHP 5.4 from source with Apache 2.4 Upgrade to the same repo's stable version which will give you PHP 5.5 + Apache 2.4. Submit a bug with the Ondrej in Ubuntu's PPAs and wait for it to be resolved. For more information check the debphp site. Submitting a bug is a must, since if it is a real one it must be fixed for all users. You could firstly go with option 2 if you don't conflict with the Migration guidelines like backward compatibility, deprecated functions, etc.. SO check it and decide. It also strongly varies depending on the machine you have to do this with.
