How to remove file permissions on linux from an external hard drive?
To make the partition accessible under Linux run:

this should make the mac drive accessible for you.
Changing ownership would do about the same, but you need not worry about

I would leave it in MainWindow.xaml.cs. If you need to overwrite WndProc

Git installation in USB Drive that works in both OSX and windows?
Use a normal git repo on the usb drive.
Use UTF-8 as encoding for all the files to make sure that you won't get any

Before you go to your windows machine, make sure that you have checked out
the branch that you want to work on.
Use the checked out files and work with them.

It can not be guaranteed this is possible unless you have high enough

way around this on most computers that you do not own, which I imagine is
the main purpose. In those cases when you have enough privileges (it is
worth a try some systems still allow this for regular users but many others
do not) you can use:

Will SQL Server treat a USB 3.0 External Drive as local?
I just used a USB 2.0 drive the other day to perform a restore to a test

local disk and not removable storage, and the SQL Server service can access
the directory, it should work just fine.

external document class injected into a timeline based Flash app
Some brief about document class & classes & timeline :
Consider the whole stage as a movieclip. Now the document class would be a
user defined, external class for the stage movieclip. When you don't
specify the document class, flash uses a predefined one, which derives a
plain movieclip class. The frames added from the IDE are converted as calls
to addFrameScript and the script in the frames are scheduled to run at an
interval as per the frame rate (timeline). Even the shapes you draw, images
you add, everything goes in as code in the frame scripts of the stage
Now if you add a movieclip onto the stage, the above process is repeated
for it as well. You may set a class or derive from an existing class for
any movieclip. The class will be initialized when the movieclip i
pass facebook response to flash callback external interface
You shouldn't use JSON.decode your facebook data, you already get a JSON
object that is ready to work with. Though flash doesn't know what is to be
there in your JSON object so there will be no code snippets (consider it as
a dynamic object)
For example, when you get your simple information about
user*FB.api('/me'...)*, you have a .name property:
public function receivedResponce(response:Object):void
You can get any other type of data returned by facebook request, whether
it's a friend list or link to the user photo.
There's a lot of information about what fields do facebook requests return,
try reading it's API guide

Not all PCs, especially older PCs, can boot from the USB Drive. Even some

UEFI runtime service next to OS
As far as my knowledge goes, I would say that it should not possbile to
run something in the background once UEFI handed the control over to the OS
I agree. Certainly, the boot environment (prior to ExitBootServices() only
uses a single threaded model.
There is no concept of threads in the UEFI spec as far as I can see.
Furthermore each runtime service is something the OS deliberately invokes,
much like the OS provides system calls for applications. Once you enter a
runtime system function, note the following restriction from 7.1:
Callers are prohibited from using certain other services from another
processor or on the same
processor following an interrupt as specified in Table 30.
Depending on which parts of the UEFI firmware your runtime service needed

Chrome's Flash player Shared Objects and External Flash Player Shared Objects
Because the Flash plugin itself controls where shared objects are stored
and you cannot (as far as I am aware) change that location nor determine
what that location is, there is nothing you can do about this one,
unfortunately. You will have to deal with the lost data. It will happen
eventually anyway, because I believe shared objects are cleared when you
clear temporary browser data (or at least they should be, anyway).
On the bright side, the average user does not know you can switch between
plugins nor do they know how. The vast majority of Chrome users, even those
with a more technical background, will be using the terrible Pepper Flash
plugin, so your scenario should be a rarity.
There is a way around it, however. You could set up a remote server and
store the shared object there.
How to access command line arguments in UEFI?
You need to be careful with this one.
As you are probably aware, there is a UEFI LoadedImage protocol - this
protocol returns a structure called EFI_LOADED_IMAGE which in turn has a
The UEFI shell will set this LoadOptions variable to whatever you type on
the command line. Alternatively, I believe you can set this through the
BootOptions EFI Variable, which is where care is needed - the first
"argument" is not the process path in this case.
So what you need to do is process the one-long-string you get to deduce the
"arguments" as you want them.
To use the LoadedImage protocol, do this:
EFI_STATUS status = EFI_SUCCESS;
EFI_GUID loaded_image_protocol = LOADED_IMAGE_PROTOCOL;
status = gBS->HandleProtocol(ImageHandle,

how to include external jar files while creating a jar file in linux?
There are two ways.

Whenever you run the program, make sure you include both jars in your
That said, I think you should go back and read a tutorial because you've
made a few mistakes in your question.
"hello.java" is not a jar file as you've said. This is a java source file.
It will be compiled into a class file. You can take this class file and
put it in a jar file.
You can't name your manifest file "myManifest.txt" AFAIK. It has to be
named something specific and be located in a specific place. Read a
tutorial to see the details on that.
Running java file with external jars in linux
If you are running on linux, then there should be different directory
structure from windows. Also the classpath on linux should contains paths
separated path by colon(:) instead of semi-colon(;)
Put your jars in a directory on linux machines, may be in /var/tmp/myjars.
And then compile your code using the below command:
javac -cp /var/tmp/myjars/lib1.jar;/var/tmp/myjars/lib2.jar
As you have updated your question. You need to run your class on windows as
mentioned here. I am taking few assumptions here that your Application
class is in com.example package. If that is the case then you can run it
from the folder containing the com folder as mentioned here:
java -cp C:/lib/lib1.jar;C:/lib/lib2.jar com.example.Application

This is your reason. It is most probably based on your distribution -
different distros have different "settings" for different programs.
Linux External Event Handling - IRQ vs. Polling kthread
The interrupt response time is affected by the time your system (whatever
it is) needs to deliver the interrupt, and by the time your CPU (whatever
it is) needs to wake up from some power-saving sleeping mode.
The polling thread eats both CPU time and power.
To measure them, use something like top or powertop, or measure the power
consumption directly on the hardware.

Same situation as following question:
I needed to add to the scope the path 'drive' at authorizing, I had only
drive.file which is intent to create/edit files only. The weird thing is
that the API returns deleted files when you don't have permissions to view
files, I think it's a bug in the API (a serious one).
Post this bug on google drive:
google drive api - copyfile working only with permission for accessing all files in drive (but jst need to copy)
According to the documentation, Files.copy() requires at least one of the
following three permissions:
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive: "View and manage the files and
documents in your Google Drive" which is the one you want to avoid
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file: "View and manage Google Drive
files that you have opened or created with this app." Which means you can
freely create any file but only open the files your app created. You can
only copy a file you created, but you cannot copy any other files even if
it is public.
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.appdata: "View and manage its own
configuration data in your Google Drive" Which only lets you control your
application-specific Appdata folder which is probably not what you want.
You can only copy a file with
Error while Retriving files from google drive using drive API. “Calling this from your main thread can lead to deadlock
You should do any code that could take a long time such as I/O or network
activity on a different thread. In your situation your file retrieval would
be best done within an ASyncTask.
The reason for this warning is because when your code is being executed to
retrieve the file from Drive, the code will block until the file retrieval
has completed, this means that nothing else within the program will be able
to respond, i.e. GUI will not update and input from the user trying to do
stuff with the GUI will not be registered. After a few seconds, if the file
retrieval still isn't complete, then the user will be presented with an ANR
(Application Not Responding) message. This will either give the user the
choice of waiting, if their patient, or most likely force closing your app.
Start with zero on your first call. Within the response is the current
largest change id, which you need to store and use on the next request. In
your code, it will materialise as "resp.largestChangeId".
Monitoring changes in Google Drive files for whole domain using Drive API
Domain-wide delegation simplifies the authentication portion for your app
but you'll still need to auth as each user to get their files and changes.
It may be possible for your app to "grab" all files and make itself (or a
special user) the owner, then you just have one user account to scan but
the "grab" process would still need to run at regular intervals to find new
files created or uploaded by end users.
I believe most apps that need to scan content at this level do it via cron
jobs or AppEngine task queues which make it easy to chunk up the scans
throughout the day. Generally they expect to scan each user account once
every 24 hours or so.
