Why will Google Custom Search API not work from localhost (WAMP, XAMPP) but is OK on a University Server?
As the SSL certificate is not there in local we should add the below code to fix the problem: Before the function call to curl_exec($ch); add the below line: curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, false);

XAMPP localhost issue with mysql
go to your xampp folder directory : xampp/htdocs/ xampp/mysql.php you will find this code on the page: <?php if (@mysql_connect("localhost", "pma", "")) { echo "OK"; } else { echo "NOK"; } ?> so all you have to do is exchange the whole code with this below: <?php if (@mysql_connect("localhost", "pma", "")) { echo "OK"; } else { $err = mysql_errno(); if ((1044 == $err) || (1045 == $err) || (1130 == $err)) { echo "OK"; } else { echo "NOK"; } } ?> and there you have your error fixed in a jiffy!!

.htaccess not working on localhost with XAMPP
Without seeing your system it's hard to tell what's wrong but try the following (comment answer if these didn't work WITH log error messages) [STOP your Apache server instance. Ensure it's not running!] 1) move apache server/install to a folder that has no long file names and spaces 2) check httpd.conf in installconf folder and look for AccessFileName. If it's .htaccess change it to a file name windows accepts (e.g. conf.htaccess) 3) double-check that your htaccess file gets read: add some uninterpretable garbage to it and start server: you should get an Error 500. If you don't, file is not getting read, re-visit httpd.conf file (if that looks OK, check if this is the only file which defines htaccess and it's location and it does at one place -within the file- only; also check if both ht

XAMPP cant uploading a image to my localhost database
Your form is submitting to a URL that doesn't exist, hence the 404 error. Are you sure index.php exists and is in the correct location for what's specified in the action attribute of the form? If your project is in a subdirectory of htdocs that could be causing your problem. Also, your PHP code will likely throw errors, but that's for another question.

XAMPP localhost returns object not found after installing Laravel
In your Apache's http.conf, find the DocumentRoot line and add the subdirectory /public on the end. Once that is done and you've restarted Apache, you'll be able to access everything which is contained within your htdocs/public folder (including subdirectories of that folder), along with any routes you've defined in Laravel. Laravel is designed to be set up this way as to protect the code and files by not having them in the folder which is served out to the web.

Xampp Apache module not working - 'waiting for localhost' error
This happened to me and the problem was that some other application was listening on port 80. I couldn't figure out what it was. Usually, it would be Skype so I shut down Skype and I still had a problem connecting to localhost. The other application was Audible Download Manager which automatically starts when I start windows and you can usually see in the windows task manager. Once I closed the app, localhost started working. This is how you figure out which application is listening on port 80. Go to Start, then Run or type cmd and open cmd.exe. Then type: cd desktop netstat -a -b -p TCP >port_list.txt After command runs, port_list.txt will be saved on your desktop. Open port_list.txt and go through the list and find the application listening to :http. Then find the application under

The MySQL user being used to interact with the database may not have the INSERT Grant for that database. WAMP and XAMPP are both using a mysql user with defined privileges. Have you created the same user with the same privileges on the newly created MySQL instance on your Windows 2008 server? You may consider reading over the MySQL Grant syntax. Utilizing mysql_error() for error trapping could prove useful for troubleshooting as well.

laravel 4 does not work on Windows XAMPP
Laravel's folder structure uses the public folder as the WWW root, effectively placing all your application's files outside of the web root to help keep them secure. What you are experiencing is normal. You'll have to either access your application from the http://localhost/lara/blog/public URL, or set up a virtual host URL (e.g. http://testblog.dev) that is pointed to the public folder. I do not develop on Windows/XAMPP so I cannot specifically tell you how to do that part.

localhost UIWebview loads on Simulator but not on Iphone device
Simulator is using your Mac's LAN connection, I guess (which has local-host server) and your iPhone might be using your mobile data (i.e 2G or 3G). Check if that is the case. May be you can try "Internet Sharing" from your Mac from Preferences for your Ethernet connection. And connect to that Wifi in iPhone and see if it loads. I think this should work and solve your problem of testing on device if you don't have router with your connection. Let me know if you need more help.

Accessing WAMP's localhost from another device via host's IP address stopped working
Open your httpd.conf file, find "Controls who can get stuff from this server." it is the section that defines which IP address gets access to your Apache server. By default, it only allows access from localhost or 127.0.0.1, you need to add the line Allow from all at the end of this section. Now save the file, close it, and restart Wamp. Viola! You'd be able to access Apache server installed on your machine via IP address. Please mark it as an answer if it solves your question.

why is mysql database deactivated on xampp status but green on the xampp control panel applocation?
i came up with an ideal solution, the xampp folder in C: was corrupted after the OS crashed, therefore there were missing files which led to re-installation of xampp but since the registry was not cleared, the application could not take control of the apache & mysql ports, i used a registry cleaner and re-installed xampp again and this time it worked from the inset. Thanks for all the comments.

Why is my certificate not valid unless I put the Sub CA certificate in the trusted root certificate authorities?
To elaborate on Erik's comment, trusting the Root CA certificate means that you will trust what the Root CA directly signs. If you have an intermediate Sub CA in the middle, its certificate is signed by the Root CA, and the Sub CA signs your certificate directly. Root CA ---signs/verifies---> Sub CA ---signs/verifies---> End user certificate As Erik said, if you do not have the Sub CA certificate present, then there is no way to link the Root CA to the End user certificate. The Root can verify the Sub CA certificate, and the Sub CA can verify the End user certificate, but there is no way for the Root to skip over the Sub CA and verify the End user certificate because the root did not sign the End user certificate. 2 ways to resolve this are: include the Sub CA cert in your tru

It seems that your source location of your file is not correct. <script src="_/script/less-1.4.1.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> I have never seen that "_" could be used for navigation. Actually, if the script folder is in the same directory as the html page, then <script src="script/less-1.4.1.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> should be enough to have a working js file on your page.

client certificate authentication: how do smart cards work?
by importing the certificate as a physical device, will the browser let me use the certificate as I imported it? Yes. However you may recognize a higher delay when using a hardware token compared to a software token (e.g. for a smartcard 2-3 seconds). what happens if the certificate has a pin? Does the browser ask for the pin every time it is launched? by default e.g. Firefox only tries to access the client certificates if you connect to a web-page that has HTTPS client auth enabled. Then the PIN will be requested. Usually the PIN is then no longer needed as long as the token is not removed but that behavior may differ depending on the used PKCS#11 module (the software that connects Firefox with the token). can I be sure that the certificate cannot be extracted frmo the

Does Valence javascript client libary work on localhost?
The short answer is yes, but you need to do some additional work. I would advise reading up on the same origin policy so you have some background as to why XHRs (in your case, Valence calls) between domains do not work out of the box. The easiest thing to do is to use jsonp if all you are making are GET requests. If you need to make other requests, you will need to look into getting CORS support set up on your instance.

Cannot connect to dlib webserver remotely, localhost does work
To prevent clients from flooding the server and exhausting its memory, dlib's web server has a limit on the length of HTTP headers and the query path string. Specifically, it requires each to be individually less than 16KB in length and if the client tries to send more than that it gives the "http field from client is too long" error message you are seeing. So you must be somehow generating a really long path or maybe you are sending back a very large header (perhaps from a big cookie you are creating?). You can change the 16KB limit to something else by editing line 129 in dlib/server/server_http.cpp. It would be better if this was settable by calling a member function so (since I'm the author of dlib :) ) I'll make that a feature in the next release. But in any event, it's surpris
