Cant seem to get https and socks proxies to work using python requests
Requests simply does not yet support either SOCKS or HTTPS proxies. They're working in it, though. See here: https://github.com/kennethreitz/requests/pull/1515 Support for HTTPS proxies has already been merged into the requests 2.0 branch, so if you like you can try that version; be wary though, as it it is currently an unstable branch. SOCKS proxy support, on the other hand, is still being worked on in the lower-level library, urllib3: https://github.com/shazow/urllib3/pull/68 Also, regardless of that, you are using the proxies argument incorrectly. It should be of the form {protocol_of_sites_you_visit: proxy}, so once support is complete, using a SOCKS5 proxy would actually be more along the lines of {"http": "socks5://127.0.0.1:9050"}.

https for an rails app on not-standard port within the same apache server?
You can make use of the Apache proxy with balancer module. Here is how I configured rails behind Apache 2.4 with NamedVirtualHost: Enable the following modules in httpd.conf: LoadModule lbmethod_byrequests_module modules/mod_lbmethod_byrequests.so LoadModule proxy_module modules/mod_proxy.so LoadModule proxy_balancer_module modules/mod_proxy_balancer.so LoadModule proxy_http_module modules/mod_proxy_http.so LoadModule slotmem_shm_module modules/mod_slotmem_shm.so LoadModule socache_shmcb_module modules/mod_socache_shmcb.so And something like following for your VirtualHost configuration Listen 127.0.0.1:6000 https <VirtualHost *:6000> ServerAdmin webmaster@example.com ServerName www.example.com DocumentRoot "rails_root/public" <Directory "rails_root/public" Req

Is there an Apache/Plesk server setting that governs https:// behavior?
No. You can create .htaccess files which will rewrite request from https pages to http, based on referrer: RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} ^https://domain.org [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://domain.org/$1 [L,R=301]

Better to use mod_rewrite only for this purpose and avoid mod_alias. Enable mod_rewrite and .htaccess through httpd.conf and then put this code in your .htaccess under DOCUMENT_ROOT directory: Options +FollowSymLinks -MultiViews # Turn mod_rewrite on RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteRule ^files/Media/(.+)$ /_fileuploads/entries/$1 [L,NC,R=301]

Apache 2 server on ubuntu can't parse php code inside html file
You can probably check under /etc/conf/httpd/httpd.conf Alternatively you may want to use the 'find' command or run 'updatedb' and then 'locate httpd.conf' file. The issue is unless you add the correct directives in httpd.conf - your php file will be rendered as a plain text file. Hence you wil have to LoadModule && AddType to get it running.

Automatically run a select statement against a remote mysql server over SH tunnel every 1 hour
Here is a quick reference of how cron works. You can run MySQL script thru .php. To run it every one hour, you should do it like this: * */01 * * * username /var/www/html/[phpFileYouWantToRun] You can either include /usr/bin/php in the command to run, or you can make the php scripts directly executable: chmod +x file.php Start your php file with a shebang so that your shell knows which interpreter to use: #!/usr/bin/php <?php // your code here Another solution is to make an scheduled jobs in MySQL directly like in this link: "How to Create Scheduled Events in MySQL"

apache redrict 301 from https://www.domain.com to https://domain.com
If you request https://www.meinedomain.de/ and your cert isn't authorized for www.meinedomain.de, then you'll get a security warning regardless of how you redirect. The redirect can only happen after they accept the security exception. Make sure you've put those rules in the SSL vhost's config, not the non-SSL one. Apache usually has them separate. If that still doesn't work, you can try just putting this in an htaccess file in your document root: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.meinedomain.de$ [NC] RewriteRule (.*) https://meinedomain.de%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L]

Redirecting HTTP to HTTPS with Apache
Your problem here is the initial HTTP request: This won't work as the server won't understand it receiving the request on port 443 (as the response code suggests). If no port is given, the protocol http defaults to port 80, https to port 443. This is also the reason why your local redirect works. I bet, if you access the page through http://website/ (with proper port forwarding of port 80), it will work as well. Also note that your VirtualHost is only defined for port 80 anyway, so it won't be valid for requests sent to website:5443 (or website:443). In general, you'd need a server accepting both HTTP and HTTPS requests on a single port. Not sure any popular server actually supports something like that, because (I think) it essentially violates the specs.

Https problm with a java web app running on apache
Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long This usually means the implementation of SSL on your server is not correct. The error is usually caused by a server side problem which the server administrator will need to investigate. Below are some things we recommend trying. Ensure that port 443 is open and enabled on your server. This is the standard port for https communications. If SSL is using a non-standard port then FireFox 3 can sometimes give this error. Ensure SSL is running on port 443. If using Apache2 check that you are using port 443 for SSL. This can be done by setting the ports.conf file as follows Listen 80 Listen 443 https Make sure you do not have more than one SSL certificate sharing the same IP. Please ensure that all SSL certificates utilise their own dedicated IP. If us

Random access to an encrypted file and write encrypted data into a specific offset in Android
The whole file has to be re-encrypted, with a new initialization vector, every time it is changed. Any other approach is insecure. ECB mode supports random access without re-encryption, but ECB does not satisfy the "secure" requirement per se. CBC mode does not support random access. CTR mode does support random access, but you must never use it this way, because it counts as nonce reuse, which results in plaintext recovery.

Apache HttpClient and remote files in URL with https scheme
There seem to be a couple of problems: You registered the Scheme to use 3920 as the default port, which is a non-standard port number for HTTPS. If the server is actually running on that port, then you would have to access using this URL in the browser: https://www.thedomain.with:3920/my_resource.pdf. Since the URL that you use in the browser does not include the 3920 port, then the server will be running on the default port of 443, so you should use change new Scheme("https", 3920, sf) to new Scheme("https", 443, sf). It appears that the CN in your server's certificate doesn't match its hostname, which is causing the SSLPeerUnverifiedException. In order for this to work, you would need to use the SSLSocketFactory(TrustStrategy, HostnameVerifier) constructor and pass a verifier that does

Moved a Magento site from one server to another. HTTPS:// redirects to old server
This could be one of many different things, including Magento configuration or Apache configuration. On the Magento side, check the core_config_data table -- specifically where the path value is web/unsecure/base_url and web/secure/base_url. These fields are how Magento identifies the base site URL, and will use the secure version to redirect users back to the older site. Also, after changing these values in core_config_data, you'll need to clear you Magento cache (in var/cache) to force a reload. Update: Don't forget to check for values set at a different store/website level.

Custom ClassLoader uses secret key to decrypt pre-encrypted class files (which had been encrypted with the secret key)
You already answered your own question: Your decrypting class loader still has to call defineClass. Anyone can launch your app launcher in their own class loader and simply hand your app launcher a version of java.lang.ClassLoader that will write out anything that is passed to defineClass. There is no way around defineClass (aside from native code, I suppose). If you are so worried about your classes being decompiled you're better off with an obfuscator (ProGuard or the like) or possibly an ahead of time native compiler (GCJ, Jet).

WebBrowser control and HTTPS in Windows Phone 8
I found an answer from Ben and it useful for u to solve the problem trusted companies issue secure IDs to websites There's a couple possiblities here: 1) If you get the same error acessing the site on other devices (make sure the URL says https, not http), it means it's the sites problem. Your phone is warning you that it doesn't trust them- for all you know, you're not actually connecting to the site at all. 2) If you don't get the same error on other devices, it means that your phone somehow lost its list of trusted ID issuers. There is a way to add certificates back, but it's probably easier at this point just to wipe the phone and restore it to factory settings.

Issue when both apache2 server and apache tomcat server installed in my linux machine
Change the default port for Tomcat to something else, for example 8181 Current versions of web browsers recognize port 8080 like 80, so that's why it's forward you to 80 or cut the port option from URL. Socks proxy in android
As far as I know, Android doesn't support SOCKS proxy out of the box, but you can try installing Privoxy, which can act as a HTTP proxy, and it can use a SOCKS upstream proxy. (I used it to hook up the Android emulator to TOR.) You can then set up a HTTP proxy using the UI (so it can be even used on a real phone, not just the emulator). For more information, see my blogpost about Android and TOR.
