Minimizing a system windows form in tray in C# without seeing it hanging where taskbar
All you have to do is call Hide() and Show() when you want to hide and show your form. NOTE: Hide() will hide from taskbar as well. private void Form1_Resize(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (WindowState == FormWindowState.Minimized) Hide(); } You may hide and show the NotifyIcon opposite to the form to not have a icon when the form is shown. Obviously you need a NotifyIcon to display your app in the system tray. Finally your code will look like this: private void Form1_Resize(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (WindowState == FormWindowState.Minimized) { Hide(); notifyIcon1.Visible = true; } } private void notifyIcon1_MouseDoubleClick(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { Show(); notifyIcon1.Visible = false; WindowState = FormWindowSta

Windows 8 installation
The message tell that CPU doesn't support the required CPU features like SSE2, PAE and NX-Bit. May be this can help you:- Unlike Windows Vista and 7, Windows 8 (as from build 8400) is not compatible with all models of the Pentium 4 processor. This is due to the fact that Windows 8 requires a processor compatible with the following functions: SSE2, PAE and NX bit. All Pentium 4 are compatible with SSE2 and EAP: the problem may come from the NX bit. First, make sure your Pentium 4 model supports the NX bit: for sockets 423 or 478 processors, then it won't work (in most cases). For sockets 775 processors, it can be compatible. If the CPU supports NX-bit, you can install Windows 8 32-bit or 64-bit (it depends on the models!). Also make sure that NX bit is n

pig installation in windows using cygwin
Try the following: Make sure your PIG_HOME variable is set correctly. There should be a pig.jar (as well as a pig-withouthadoop.jar) file in your pig-0.11.1 directory. Make sure they live where $PIG_HOME is pointing. These files might have the name pig-0.11.1.jar or pig-0.11.1-withouthadoop.jar. If you're still having problems, cygwin is fussy with the pig-x.y.z.jar filenames. Rename these to just "pig.jar" or "pig-withouthadoop.jar" and try again. Good luck!

Upgrading SVN after new Windows installation
is there anything I need to worry about when doing the upgrade? Yes Such as path information considering it will be installed at a new location? No. Installation will add TortoiseSVNin to PATH automatically, shell-extension does not depend from installation location You really have to worry about two (different, unrelated to mentioned) things Subversion configuration have to be copied to the new location of Subversion-data (stored auths, configuration, server-specific settings) - they are always in %APPDATA%Subversion and have to be moved from C to G Working Copy of Subversion 1.8 use new format, incompatible with 1.6 (1.8 can't read WCs of 1.6), you must svn upgrade all old Working Copies (or re-checkout to new location)

PHP PDO installation on windows (xampp)
So i finally managed to connect to four database here's how I managed: MySQL using PDO_MYSQL extension seemed to be installed on xampp by default didn't have to do much work. Here is the code I used for the connection: $connStr = "mysql:host=".$myServer.";dbname=".$myDB; $conn = new PDO($connStr,$myUser,$myPass); Microsoft SQL Server using PDO_SQLSRV followed the instructions on http://craigballinger.com/blog/2011/08/usin-php-5-3-with-mssql-pdo-on-windows/. Here is the code I used: $connStr = "sqlsrv:Server=".$myServer.";Database=".$myDB; $conn = new PDO($connStr,$myUser,$myPass); Oracle with PDO_OCI. Download and install the proper Oracle Instant Client on your windows machine for example instantclient_12_1 and add its path to PATH in SYSTEM Environmental Variables. Note

Firebreath installation in Windows 7
That's because the first parameter to prep2010 should be the path where your plugin project(s) reside. If you haven't moved them from the projects/ directory (which you should) then you could do either: C:firebreathTutorialTestPluginfirebreath>prep2010 projects build or if your plugin project is named "MyTestPlugin" then you could do: C:firebreathTutorialTestPluginfirebreath>prep2010 projectsMyTestPlugin build Basically the first is ideal if you have multiple projects and want to build them together, since it'll use the same builds of the static projects for each, which can speed up compilation time. That's rare, so most often I use the second syntax. Of course, to me that directory structure you have makes no sense. I wrote a blog post some time ago about what I feel is the

Reconfigure windows after installation
I doubt that you will be able to accomplish all of this using a script. All of this can be accomplished by deploying a custom image to a computer. We use SCCM for this kind of task, but there are many other alternatives. If I were you I would look in to something like SCCM or WDS. You can find more info here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dd379586(v=vs.85).aspx SCCM: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/server-cloud/system-center/configuration-manager-2012-overview.aspx

hadoop 1.1.2 installation on windows
Quit Cygwin. Your path to the bin folder of JAVA contains is in another folder named bin ? I don't think so. Install a JDK (not a JRE) properly in a Path with no blanks. For example : C:jdk1.7.0_21 In Windows : Add an environnement variable JAVA_HOME to C:jdk1.7.0_21 Then, add the JAVA_HOME/bin to your PATH. Edit hadoop/conf/hadoop-env.sh : Uncomment the JAVA_HOME Export. For my example : export JAVA_HOME=/cygdrive/c/jdk1.7.0_21/

Installation failed in Ghostscript on Windows XP
The fact that your code doesn't work doesn't necessarily mean the software failed to install. In fact you haven't presented any evidence that it did fail. Did you get any error messages during installation ? Can you run Ghostscript and ImageMagick from the XP command shell ? If not, what errors do you get ? If the applications work from the command shell, then you have 2 obvious possibilities: 1) The environment is different when running your PHP server, you should check the PATH environment variable at the very least, but compare the entire environment you are using vs the command shell environment. 2) Your code has a bug which prevents it working. Again, do you get any error codes ? The question as you've presented it can't be answered because there isn't enough iniformation. The on

Out-of-the-box opencv installation for python on windows
The pre-built Libraries on SourceForge contain the 32 Bit python module under build/python/2.7. You just need to copy it to Anaconda x86's library and you're all set. If you need x64 under Windows you have to make them yourself, I believe.

Go to github and simply download the PhoneGap master .zip In that zip are project files for window phone, etc platform... just use those templates. I don't know how such an easy process could have worse documentation. It as if it was written by lawyers.

Some users might have placed their local Python directory into the system's PATH environment variable and some might even have set the PYTHONPATH environment variable. You could try the following: import os if "python" in os.environ["PATH"].lower(): # Confirm that the Python executable actually is there if "PYTHONPATH" in os.environ.keys(): # Same as in the last if... As for the subprocess.call(...), set the stdout parameter for something that passes for a file object, and afterwards just .read() the file object you gave to see the output from the call.

Git installation in USB Drive that works in both OSX and windows?
Use a normal git repo on the usb drive. Use UTF-8 as encoding for all the files to make sure that you won't get any problems with that Before you go to your windows machine, make sure that you have checked out the branch that you want to work on. Use the checked out files and work with them. Back at your mac, you can commit and push and do whatever you like. OR Use your smartphone as usb drive. If you have Android, you can install botbrew on it and use git on your mobile. With that you can do your git operations while at your windows pc.

It should be a simply - (a plain hyphen) In your post above, you have a unicode hyphen. Probably because you copy/pasted it from the article that used such a hyphen. Perhaps its been pasted via MSWord or similar that has auto-correct on. Try just typing the command. Not copy/pasting. Also is it easier to install in ubuntu? Not necesserily easier, because if you dont have abny more of ubuntu, then it will still be 'hard'. But in general it is 'more reliable'

Pylint issue installation with windows and python 3.2
Looks like there's an error in the setup scripts for both Pylint and its dependency logilab-common. I encounter the error when building with pip install pylint or python setup.py install. The error generally looks like this, and occurs right after .pyc files are byte-compiled: error: The system cannot find the file specified running 2to3 on C:Python33Libsite-packagespylint est Simply making sure that 2to3.py is available on PATH doesn't seem to be sufficient; 2to3 itself will run, but Pylint won't install. I just spent a bit trying to get this working, and found two promising suggestions: First option, create a custom bat file so that 2to3 is effectively on your PATH (see SO thread, issue tracker). I managed to get 2to3 running as a bare command in both PowerShell and CMD, but couldn

Rails installation windows 7 bad file descriptor mysql2
I very much understood that this is a problem with 32 bit and 64 bit. I use ubuntu 12.04. I know there is no point in using rails on windows. This has to be done for my designer to be able to view the app. The root of all this evil is the mysql2 0.2.6 gem. I knew, if I installed mysql2 latest version this will be all good. I uninstalled mysql 5.6. Downloaded mysql 5.5.32 32-bit from http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/5.5.html#downloads Installed in a standard way Already rails 3.2.12, ruby 1.9.3 were installed in my windows 7 system(Like in here http://rorguide.blogspot.in/2011/03/installing-mysql2-gem-on-ruby-192-and.html) Now, I carefully searched the right path where mysql server 5.5 is installed, It has to be here "c:Program FilesMySQLMySQL Server 5.5in", but it was here

How can I install C compiler properly for Python package installation for Windows?
I'm having the same problem, despite installing gcc and mingw-gcc under CygWin, per scipy recommendations. But this might get you further down the track: setup-x86_64.exe -q -n -N -d -R 'C:cygwin64' -s 'http://www.gtlib.gatech.edu/x86_64/release/' -l 'C:Users$USERDownloads' -P git,wget,curl,python,gcc-core,mingw-gcc Eventually I just had to mousily install all the Cygwin packages that came up in the search for "gcc". I only selected those under the "dev" category rather than "debug" and pip install numpy (which compiles and links a lot of C packages) worked fine. Here's my list of Cygwin packages. I'm on Windows 7 (when I can't avoid it), but not Win 8.

Dummynet Installation Failure : my_socket failed 2, cannot talk to kernel module (Windows 7 X64)
I'm getting the same message error as you with my windows server 2012 based on a 64 bit architecture. I checked the code, the error value is returned from the windows function GetLastError : 2 (0x2) : ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND This error occurs when the windows function CreateFile is called on I/O device "Ipfw". If the specified file or device does not exist, the function fails and the last-error code is set to ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND (2). To make it quick I think the "Ipfw" service is missing, it shows as right installed but its not.

Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress on Windows Server 2008 R2
I had an issue like this on a windows install and it was down to this. If you don't have the extension_dir uncommented on you php.ini, it wont default to the 'ext' directory (which is where all extension dlls are on windows). Therefore, even uncommented extensions are ignored (and you wont see them on your phpinfo()) http://php.net/manual/en/install.windows.extensions.php

Create a Installation setup for a windows form application in VS2010 using InstallShield limited edition
FWIW, some people think that it's InstallShield (or similar tools) job to autodetect your dependencies and author them for you. In fact, InstallShield does have some functionality to achieve this. But IMO it's a hopeless attempt. For any programming endeavor step 1 is to determine the requirements and step 2 is to implement them. Many will argue that the point of spending $ on InstallShield is to automate this. I couldn't disagree more. Automation is nice but at the end of the day it's my job to understand my deployment requirements and validate that they are implemented correctly. You need to profile your application to understand what file is missing, add it to your installer and rinse and repeat. This could simply mean looking at the code, or using ILDASM or .NET Reflector or eve

WiX Toolset - check for all installation prerequisites at once (conditional installation)
The WiX Condition element when used under a Fragment or Product element represents an entry in the LaunchCondition Table and is processed by the LaunchConditions Action. The behavior you see is a limitation of that underlying feature. Here's a blog article I wrote about this 7 years ago: Short Comings of LaunchConditions Sadly, Microsoft has never taken my recommendations for improvement. So instead of using the Condition element you'll have to write your own custom table and custom action to do the processing. I have sample code for this in InstallScript and C# but I've never written it in C/C++. Here is a stripped down example in InstallScript. Read it as pseudocode for refactoring in C/C++. You'll need to also create the custom table used by the SQL query, define and schedule

windows 7 64-bit - can't upgrade upgrade to ruby 2.0 keeps showing 1.9.3 - can't switch to new installation
Jesse, Speaking from experience, Pik is a viable solution if you want to run both versions of Ruby on the same Windows box (at least until RVM 2 is released with Windows support). It should only require adding the Ruby from the RailsInstaller installation to Pik so that it is aware. Then, you should be able to use Pik and install other versions of Ruby. The other option that is a bit more complicated is using Cygwin. This will actually allow you to install RVM and run it in a sandboxed Unix environment on Windows. It's something that I've been meaning to write up how to do but just haven't gotten around to it. Cheers, Evan

Why Chrome hanging
Without more details it isn't going to be possible for someone to answer your problem for you, but if you can invest a two or three hours in the problem then you may well be able to solve it yourself. As the issue appears in Chrome then you may be interested in the free "Discover DevTools" course run by Codeschool and sponsored by Google (you have to register in order to follow the course, but it is free). I suspect that the issue will turn out to be related to a memory leak where large numbers of elements are being added to and removed from the DOM using JavaScript, or the same element(s) are being added and removed multiple times. The course specifically covers "Memory Profiling" using Chrome Dev Tools, as well as the specific problem of memory leaks - the cause of them and how to reso
