How to open port 9091 on a linux running under vmware?
Your router may be configured to route packets from the public network to the local machine in the private network. It needs 9091 port to be opened and routed to the private IP. Moreover, you need to ensure that your router can ping your centos guest before. If it can't ping, take care of the network settings of VmWare host, AKA (bridge|nat|private|...) network mode.

Redirect a domain to a ip and port
HTTP requests usually come in on port 80. When you type in a domain and do not specify a port, it automatically connects to port 80. You have a few options. You can run your Node.js server as root and have it listen on port 80, but it's not recommended. You can also setup a Nginx on port 80 and use it to reverse proxy requests to your Node.js process which is listening on port 4000, but this introduces another component in your stack to manage and introduces a little bit of overhead for each request. The way I prefer to handle this is to setup a redirect in iptables (assuming you're using Linux). sudo iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i eth0 -p tcp --dport 80 -j REDIRECT --to-port 4000 That will redirect all traffic from port 80 to port 4000, where you're listening Node.js process is.

Apache redirect to a port and mask the URL
You want your reverse proxy to happen in your port 80 vhost. Because you're using mod_rewrite to redirect the browser to URLs like http://Dev.server.com:8083/, that's what the browser will see. You just need 2 vhosts on port 80: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName dev.server.com ProxyRequests off ProxyPass / http://server.com:8083/jde/owhtml/ ProxyPassReverse / http://server.com:8083/jde/owhtml/ Oc4jMount /jde HTML_DV_8083 Oc4jMount /jde/* HTML_DV_8083 </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName pre.server.com ProxyRequests off ProxyPass / http://server.com:8081/jde/owhtml/ ProxyPassReverse / http://server.com:8081/jde/owhtml/ Oc4jMount /jde HTML_PY_8081 Oc4jMount /jde/* HTML_PY_8081 </VirtualHost> Note that the "ServerName" is dev.server.co

(SOLVED) lighttpd, redirect just the IP to https and a specific port?
So, is this solved or not? By specifying 101.102.103.104 your browser defaults to port 80. So, if lighttpd is listening on port 80, you can capture/redirect using the same technique you described. In the configuration documentation it says that the daemon will bind to ports specified in $SERVER["socket"] == conditionals. e.g. $SERVER["socket"] == ":80" { $HTTP["host"] =~ "([^:/]+)" { url.redirect = ( "^/(.*)" => "https://%1:8000/$1" ) } } The above config should guarantee lighttpd will have bound to port 80 and will also make redirects to port 8000.

iptables redirect from external interface to loopback's port?
DNAT for loopback traffic is not possible. I found alot of similar questions. 1, 2, 3, etc... According to RFC 5735, network 127.0.0.0/8 should not be routed outside host itself: 127.0.0.0/8 - This block is assigned for use as the Internet host loopback address. A datagram sent by a higher-level protocol to an address anywhere within this block loops back inside the host. This is ordinarily implemented using only 127.0.0.1/32 for loopback. As described in [RFC1122], Section 3.2.1.3, addresses within the entire 127.0.0.0/8 block do not legitimately appear on any network anywhere. RFC 1700, page 5, «Should never appear outside a host». There is one of exits: use inetd. There are many inted servers, xinetd, etc. My choice was rinetd. I use this manual http://www.howtofor

How to redirect domain:port to domain with Glassfish?
The best way is to place Glassfish behind Apache http server and configure apache to point requests to glassfish. Therefore http requests are handled by Apache and all www.example.com requests are pointed to www.example.com:12544 internally. Below is a brief explanation of how to do this. Install Glassfish 3+ (make sure your listener is created and activated on 8009 and your jk is enabled) Install Apache (2.2+) get the mod_jk connector and place it into apache modules folder to do the configurations. create a worker.properties file and place it into apache conf folder. It should contain the following properties: worker.list=worker1 worker.worker1.type=ajp13 worker.worker1.host=localhost worker.worker1.port=8009 Open httpd.conf file in apache conf folder and place t

Can i format the disk via vmware?
If you just evaluating MapR or using it for Development purposes, it's much easier to use flat files instead of formatting disks. Setup new flat file with 20GB Storage use following command: $ dd if=/dev/zero of=/root/storagefile bs=1G count=20 Then you can use /root/storagefile as your disk: $ echo "/root/storagefile" > /tmp/disks.txt $ /opt/mapr/server/disksetup -F /tmp/disks.txt More Information: http://www.mapr.com/doc/display/MapR2/Setting+Up+Disks+for+MapR

The easiest solution would be to add an binding of the default web site to the port needed. This can be done with two or three clicks in the IIS-Manager. The clean way is to use ~/ and runat="server" wherever you need a link.

VMware PowerCLI Variables in ScriptText
Your haven't correctly scoped your variable. Here's a simple experiment you can try in your console: PS C:> $test = "Resolve!" PS C:> $test Resolve! # This scriptblock will not resolve the variable. PS C:> {$test} $test # This scriptblock will resolve the variable. PS C:> [scriptblock]::Create($test) Resolve! Invoke-VMScript's documentation suggests you should pass -ScriptText as a string instead of a ScriptBlock. So in this case, we can mimic example 2: $string = "(Get-Wmiobject -Class Win32_ComputerSystem).Rename($strName)" Invoke-VMScript -ScriptText $string Variables enclosed by " " will be resolved.

VMware private internal network
VMWare already does all this for you. It creates: Two internal subnets a virtual IP address in the first subnet that is bridged to a real NIC of the host. an IP address for each VM in the second subnet. routing between the two subnets. There is a program called 'Manage virtual networks' that does what it says.

Using a physical network adapter on VMWARE
There are multiple ways to achieve it. First is to use physical interface state replication, which you can enable in Network adapter entry in Hardware tab of your VM. With that it will treat hardware interfaces just as if you've plugged them directly into the VM. Other way to go about it, and one that doesn't require hardware network adapters, is to utilize quite robust Virtual network editor (Edit->Virtual Network Editor) which should allow you to replicate most networking conditions you will need.

Python urllib2 exception nonnumeric port: 'port/'
The exception is thrown because you have a faulty proxy configuration. On POSIX systems, the library looks for *_proxy environment variables (upper and lowercase). For a HTTP URL, that's the http_proxy environment variable. You can verify this by looking for proxy variables: import os print {k: v for k, v in os.environ.items() if k.lower().endswith('_proxy')} Whatever value you have configured on your system is not a valid hostname and port combination and Python is choking on that.

Apache httpd vs. Tomcat 7: port 80 vs. port 8080
The difference is mostly historical at this point, but still enforced by Linux and most Unix implementations that I can think of. Unix/Linux considers any port number < 1024 to be "privileged" and requires root privs to bind to them. Any user should be able to bind to ports higher than 1024. If your software package is of a certain vintage it expects to be started as root, bound to a port, and optionally it will then change effective UID to a non-privileged user. Apache HTTPD falls into this category. Software packages created later on (ie Apache Tomcat) typically went the route of doing everything with a non-privileged user and binding to a higher port number by default. Some firewall admins can, I'm sure, go into detail about how port < 1024 will sometimes get special treatme

Host-Only Network not working on VMware Workstation
Host-only networking in VMware Workstation creates a network between all virtual machines (whose network type is set to host-only as well) and the host computer computer (in your case, your Windows 8 machine). This link provides more information on the topic of host-only networking. If you're looking to provide internet connectivity, you can use either NAT Networking, or Bridged Networking. NAT Networking will provide your GOS (Guest Operating System) with an IP that is NAT'ed from your Host. Bridged networking will allow your GOS to obtain an IP from your physical network (provided there's a DHCP -- usually your wired (or wireless) router serves as the DHCP server in most home networks). Hope that helps!

Windows Phone 8 Emulator in VMWare Fusion on OSX
In the end I found a solution, I managed to launch the original Windows Phone VM image directly from the commandline with this command: "C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft XDE8.0XDE.exe" /vhd "C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft SDKsWindows Phonev8.0EmulationImagesFlash.vhd" /name WP8SDK720P I created a new text file with notepad and put this command in it and saved the file on my desktop as a .bat file. This way i can just double click the shortcut and launch the sim. Hopefully this helps someone else out there. In this way, you don't even need to start visual studio to run the emulator, it makes it much simpler if all you are using the emulator for is testing web-apps. N.B. if you press FN+DOWN-ARROW you can enable the keyboard to work in the sim.

JBoss in Mac OSX won't accept connections from VMware IE10
The parameter to let the jboss listen to an interface is "-b" for bind to. So you should start the Jboss with this parameter to listen to all interfaces: -b 0.0.0.0 And make sure that the firewall has opend the Port 8080, as well ;) If you use the JBoss Tools in Eclipse to manage your Jboss, make right click in the "Servers" view on the Server and select "Open" in the context menü. This should open a launch editor which allowes you to change all the polling, managing and deployment stuff. There is a field "Hostname". Change this to "0.0.0.0" and it will configure the launch config correctly for you. I think in newest version of the tools there is a checkbox "Listen on all interface" or so. When this checkbox is there, enable it and enjoy.

VMware vCenter Web Client UI and data service tweaking
Having had a look at the Customizing the vSphere Client guide, I think what you intend to do could be possible by editing the Web UI plugin internals, and that is modifying its source code. You should check the Orchestrator documentation to see if what you intend to do can be done without modifying the source code. For example, I read in this guide you can customize what the user can do by customizing the URL you use for accessing the Web Client.

Obj-C: How to make UDP packet's Source Port consistent in GCDAsyncUdpSocket? source port alway change
The reason of variable port number is I am using ARC. The instance might not be released at next time alloc and init. Everytime I call this part code I create a new GCDAsyncUdpSocket object, then try to bind the port and then send the message. These objects are being dealloced only at a later time when I use ARC. So, actually I am trying to bind to the port several times which is not possible. Once the port is bound, I cannot bind it any more.
