Real-Time Excel Updates
You cannot do this using Apache POI. If you have an Excel spreadsheet open in Excel, then you will get a FileNotFoundException if you attempt to write your changes to that file. At least on Windows, you will get something like this: java.io.FileNotFoundException: MySpreadsheet.xlsx (The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process) Additionally, even if this worked, there is nothing in the Apache POI API that interacts with the Excel application itself, so you cannot tell Excel to re-open the spreadsheet.

Perl: How to get real-time updates during execution
First, stop using global variables for no reason. And add at least a simple check as to whether open succeeded or not. open(my $OUT, ">>", $filename) or die $!; You simply have to turn off buffering use IO::Handle; # Only needed for older versions of Perl $OUT->autoflush(1); Then you can print as normal. print $OUT "text ";

Stop receiving real time updates for a Facebook page
There are two possible alternatives: Go to https://www.facebook.com/{page_id}/settings?tab=apps and manually remove the application from the page. If the app is not there, it has already been removed. Or: You can use the Real-time Update documentation and use a DELETE API call to unsubscribe the page from real-time updates. However, if your application is used with more than once page, it will also unsubscribe the other pages.

Are there any free compression utilities that zip in real time like Xceed Real-Time Zip?
What you are looking for is stream compression approach. Good news is you have quite a lot of options. Please also note you have to think about memory because some solutions (dictionary-based) might require a lot of memory, so test and tune. In order to keep my answer short I would suggest to give LZ4 a try. LZ4 - http://code.google.com/p/lz4/ LZ4 is a very fast lossless compression algorithm, providing compression speed at 300 MB/s per core, scalable with multi-cores CPU. It also features an extremely fast decoder, with speed in GB/s per core, typically reaching RAM speed limits on multi-core systems. Benchmark: Name Ratio C.speed D.speed MB/s MB/s LZ4 (r97) 2.084 410 1810 LZO 2.06 2.106 409 600 QuickLZ 1.5.

Can I use Azure Mobile (Zumo) authentication with SPA apps on a mobile device?
You can definitely do this. If you go into the quickstart page after creating a new Mobile Service, you'll see one of the supported platforms is HTML/JS. You can download that quickstart application to run a local website that will connect to your Mobile Service and can set up authentication using this flow (http://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/develop/mobile/tutorials/get-started-with-users-html/). Dropping this into a PhoneGap application is very simple and just requires downloading the jQuery and Mobile Service javascript files locally (phonegap can't reference remote JS files). The bulk of the HTML can be the exact same. You'll just need to take the JS from the HTML/JS quickstart and drop it into the onReady method (I believe that's what PhoneGap calls once the device is ready for yo

Distribute Google Apps Script and push updates
The easiest way to distribute an specific (bounded) script is indeed to create a template spreadsheet with the script in it. The Gallery is suitable if your script is more generic and can be used by anyone. Now, there's no great solution to push changes to script's copies, doesn't matter how you distribute your script, because in the end each "installation" is an independent copy, not linked to the original. The easiest, but still cumbersome, way of doing this is to use a library. You place all your logic inside a library and only the boilerplate inside the scripts that will be copied. i.e. an onOpen and onEdit functions and stub menu functions. Something like this: function onOpen(e) { return Lib.onOpen(e); } function onEdit(e) { return Lib.onEdit(e); } function stub1() { return Lib.st

Android real device can't parse Apps made on Mac OS
From my experience these are some things that you could try. First thing to try is simply cleaning and rebuilding the project. project -> clean Have you enabled installation of apps from unknown sources? Have you renamed the apk file manually at all? The other reason you may be experiencing this is due to conflicting android versions. What version are you packaging the app for and does this match the version that your phone is running? You may have to export a signed version. Also try adjusting the android:minSdkVersion to match the version your running. You may be building packages for a newer version than what you are running.

Change the real time into a given span of time, with jquery, mysql and/or php
Interesting problem. I would think the algorithm would go something like this: Calculate what percentage of an actual day has passed. Use that to calculate how much time has passed in a virtual day (multiply times 32400 to get the number of seconds, probably). Add that number of seconds to a date object that has been set to 20:00PM on today's date.

Online database creation, mobile phone access and updates
I agree the question is extremely large. There are many options you will like and others you won't. Personally, I would go with Ruby on Rails. Extremely easy to set up and learn, highly configurable. It is very easy to implement an API consumed through Json requests. For the client side, you can either go with JavaScript and phonegap or develop a native iPhone app. Both will make json requests to your API.

Should an application that updates Windows Mobile 6.5 to Compact Framework 3.5 be .NET 1.0 or native code?
For Windows CE (Windows Embedded Compact now) it is entirely up to the device manufacturer whether they want to include the CompactFramework. However, for Windows Mobile 6 the CF 2.0 SP2 was preinstalled with the OS (So I believe that 6.5 should have it too). I believe that you can probably write .NET CF 2.0 code for it and have it be expected to run. As far as native code, one thing to keep in mind is that if you have different processor architectures then you cannot have the same native code, for example x86 and ARM. However, again I think Windows Mobile 6 only supports ARM processors, so I'm not sure that would be a problem either. I think you could use either one.

jQuery Get function wont work when on a real mobile device
Why use both jQuery and jQuery mobile? Seems like you should just be able to use mobile and that the use of both libraries could be the cause of your issues through a conflict. You could try adding a call to jQuery.noConflict() to resolve this: <script type="text/javascript"> // This takes out the jQuery variable '$' from the global scope $.noConflict(); jQuery(document).ready(function($) { jQuery.get('https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/53792213/App/David.csv',function(data) { alert('Success'); }).fail(function() { alert('error'); }); }); //rest of your normal jQuery that uses the $. here </script> EDIT: Looks like jQuery mobile isn't compatible with jQuery 2 yet. Try referencing jQuery 1.9.1 instead and see if that works.

What are the benefits of using NoSQL in mobile apps
Mobile Application Development (Android, iOS) platforms having complex & rigid structure with relational database. For simplicity of handling of data.As developers come up with new ideas and features for their applications, making changes becomes a time-consuming task because constant changes have to be made to the database schema. Another issue with mobile applications that NoSQL addresses is the need for constant updates. After an application has been released, maintenance becomes a major concern, among other things to consider. Because NoSQL is document based, fixing certain types of bugs and other problems doesn’t require a complete overhaul of the database, because the changes made by developers don’t necessarily affect every other aspect of the application. Finally, NoSQL i

Rendering city maps on mobile web apps
you should try Leaflet JS - it's a great open source mapping library for javascript, with handheld/touch support. I've used it in my project and it works great on Firefox OS. As for the offline support you may find several blog posts about how to cache tiles for offline use with Leaflet - you should be bundling these tiles with your app (if it is only meant to display local information) or implementing some kind of caching algorithm if you can't bundle these assets.

Program that updates the current time by one second
It's because you pass the structure by value and return it by value in all the functions. Therefore in clockKeeper when you call timeUpdate you pass a copy that will be modified, but you don't actually update the copy local to clockKeeper. Every time you do a call you have to remember to assign it back to itself, e.g.: struct dateAndTime clockKeeper(struct dateAndTime now) { now = timeUpdate(now); // Note assignment back to `now` // If hours reaches 24, increments dys by one if (now.hours == 24) { now = dateUpdate(now); // Note assignment back to `now` } return now; } Or you can pass the structure by reference, by using pointers to the structure. Like this: struct dateAndTime *dateUpdate(struct dateAndTime *now) { now->days++;

PayPal iOS SDK - Payment not available for apps with a Mobile SDK type of integration
Josh from PayPal here. My apologies -- I think the messaging here could be improved. Log In with PayPal is an oauth2 identity service, which you could use (say) to let users log in to your app using their PayPal account instead of having to create an account with your service. The log in button you see in the PayPal Mobile SDKs, in contrast, is intended to let folks pay using their PayPal wallet, which does require that they log in. This does work, now, with a "Mobile SDK type of integration". Hope that clears things up a bit.

Meteorjs how much of a real time is it really?
If you use two databases without DDP your apps are not going to operate in real time. You should either use one complete app or use DDP to relay messages to the other instance (via Meteor.connect) This is a bit of an issue for the moment if you want to do the subscription on the server as there isn't really server to server ddp support with subscriptions yet. So you need to use the client to make the subscription: connection = Meteor.connect("http://YourOtherMetorInstanceUrl"); connection.subscribe("messages"); Instead of Meteor.subscribe("messages"); In your client app, of course using the same subscription names as you do for your corresponding publish functions on the other meteor instance

Real-time save in Qt
I suggest you to use tiles to save the image. Split the canvas to many e.g. 64x64 rectangles. And save each rectangle into separate file. When something is changed, you need to rewrite only few small files instead of rewriting the whole picture. Also there is another dangerous thing in your code. When you run QImage::save, it most likely will erase file contents and write new contents. If the system was shutted down between there two actions, your file will became empty. So it's important to write new contents to a temporary file and then move it to the proper location. Keeping several old version of a file also can be useful. Who knows how the file system will react on the shutdown.

Real time wav playing
You didn't post the question, so answer will be general. The wav file has a strictly defined format. It contains a header and data (sound samples). The header defines the number of data in the wav file. To play audio the header provides additional information like sample rate. If you open the wav file with AudioInputStream it parses those information. Due to data length defined in header you can't appending the data to wav file. You could modify the wav file data samples but you must be sure the exchanged data has the same format. When you open the docu for Class AudioInputStream the first statement is: "An audio input stream is an input stream with a specified audio format and length." From OS perspective. Using a file as a buffer in real time player may be a problem. The filesystem i

patterns for building Web/Mobile apps that processes a lot of data on the client side
In my opinion your approach to process the data on the client side makes sense. But what do you mean with "fully loading all the data each time the app is loaded"? You could load the data only once at the beginning and then work with this data throughout the app lifecycle without reloading this data every time. What you also could do is store the data which you have initially fetched to HTML5 localstorage. Then you only have to refetch the data from the server if something changed. This should reduce your startup time.

JTextArea real time output
One way you can do this is using the model-view type of program design. Basically, you have 2 threads: one that handles the GUI (view/controller), and a second thread that manipulates the data (model). When an action is performed in the GUI, you start the second thread and tell it to go muck with the data. Then, as the data model thread starts changing values, it tells the GUI thread to go update the GUI by sending an event of some sort. For more about the Model-View-Controller design, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model%E2%80%93view%E2%80%93controller In pseudo code, here's how this would work: GUI Thread Initialize UI While program is running Wait for event (like action performed, or ready to update event) If button was pressed Add task to data model's work queue

Real-time audio modulation
A somewhat coarse solution that does not employ OOP is to place the sound generation code within a loop, for instance in pseudocode: Fs = ...; while 1 % generate your signal here ... signal = .... % ... wavplay(signal,Fs,'sync') end However you want to include an escape clause to break from the loop in a nice way. You ultimately will want to have some OOP-like solution, basically a listener so that you can escape the loop and optionally modify your signal interactively. The listener can be very basic for instance implemented as a figure with a pushbutton.
