Connection Reset when port forwarding with Vagrant
I had Django listening on 127.0.0.1:8000 (default) As explained in Mitchell's answer here: Vagrant's port forwarding not working I should have been listening on 0.0.0.0. Here is a quote of his answer: I wanted to add an additional note that often this is caused by the server within the VM because it binds to 127.0.0.1, which is loopback. You'll want to make sure that the server is bound to 0.0.0.0 so that all interfaces can access it. If you're using Django, you want to start the dev server like this: ./manage.py runserver 0.0.0.0:8000

Using Python to Telnet into CISCO router and store the output on a machine locally
For what you are looking to do, you should consider using SNMP instead of trying to process the telnet I/O. You will be able to pull the values off that you are describing and put them in your data storage of choice (text, mysql, etc.) http://pysnmp.sourceforge.net/ http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_2/configfun/configuration/guide/fcf014.html

How to connect to tcp port 23 for telnet using C# application?
This must be some AV(Antivirus) Tool / Firewall issue blocking your Port 23. Try deactivating them and test your code again. If this doesn't help. Follow this. Use network monitor on W 7 and UNIX side to pinpoint is there is any communication. CurrentControlSet1 is not effective and the chnage of SackOpts would not be seen I guess If nothing helps run putty to test connection.

iOS reachability says reachable with no internet connection on 3g
After quite a few a few days of research I found a solution that was useful for me and hopefully somebody in the future might find it useful. I created a singleton class with the above reachability code so that I could use it and check it whenever I make web calls easily. Although this did not solve my issue as I mentioned before but this is the first check. Then I went ahead and just did the regular stuff to get data from the url NSdata * data [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:myurlhere]; if([data length] == 0) { show alert view here } else { doing stuff with the items in data } So using a combination of reachability (this does not always work in some cases like mine where a cellular network uses 3g or 4g) and checking the data downloaded can serve as a good check point for the

telnet localhost 11211 fails. How to open the port?
The port is not the issue, it's the listening address. You need to set the listen address in memcached.conf -l 0.0.0.0 this is not safe, but the most open or -l 127.0.0.1 or the actually IP address of the host (this is what I use) -l 192.168.0.1 BTW, this is my hosts file: 127.0.0.1 localhost 127.0.1.1 myhostname

nodejs telnet connection undetermined
I don't know the module, but looking at the the code below what you posted: if(data.indexOf("220") != -1 || data.indexOf("250") != -1) { conn.emit('prompt'); } else if(data.indexOf("550") != -1) { conn.emit('false'); } else { conn.emit('undetermined'); } So it must be that data, the value returned from the SMTP server, is not returning one of the expected values.

telnet connection inputstream blocking why?
I recommend you the Apache Commons Net Java library (http://commons.apache.org/proper/commons-net/) which contains various clients for many Internet protocols, including Telnet. I don't recommend you to use the embedded telnet client from the OS. Things will be cleaner with a library. In addtion, in your first while loop, you're closing the writer object every iterations, and you don't read further with your reader.

My hibernate application shows message in console and shows session closed error on browser
At first look it seems like a possibility of 2 issues ContactManager object which you are trying to save is null Your variable name 'Contact' is incorrect, it should be 'contact' (some hibernate thingy) Where is your hbm.xml file ? There may be a reference of 'Contact' the class in that file still around somewhere Edit Solutions Put a if (developer != null) before your 'save(developer)' Rename Contact to contact Put the hbm file contents on the question, without that cant review the mapping Hope it clear now. Edit 2 : Do a clean build. Its possible your build is not updated.

Bash script with telnet "connection closed by foreign host"
Your box may have access restrictions that make it disallow connections from the machine you're running the script on. As general advice: do quote $line to prevent nasty things from happening, as in: echo 'foo'"$list"'bar' (notice the double quotes); instead of telnet, which is meant more for interactive usage, use nc (netcat): echo 'stuff' | nc -n 192.168.1.82 49153; this may help with your connection issues, if your telnet is trying to be smart and negociate telnet protocol specific parameters before it sends your data through; since you only use one command, echo, to send data, you don't need to run it in a subshell, so the parentheses ( ) are not needed; when you have multiple lines to output, consider using cat <<EOF instead of echo (look up here-documents in the bash manual)

Do each connection in connection pool use the same socket port?
Do each connection in connection pool of an JDBC driver open the same socket port on client side in order to connect to DB server? No. This is impossible. If this is the case It isn't. it means that multiple thread access the same port simultaneously, right? Wrong, and it wouldn't mean anything anyway, as connections are distinct. Your question doesn't make any sense. What's the real problem you're trying to solve?

SSH -L connection successful, but localhost port forwarding not working "channel 3: open failed: connect failed: Connection refused"
ssh -v -L 8783:localhost:8783 myacct@server.com ... channel 3: open failed: connect failed: Connection refused When you connect to port 8783 on your local system, that connection is tunneled through your ssh link to the ssh server on server.com. From there, the ssh server makes TCP connection to localhost port 8783 and relays data between the tunneled connection and the connection to target of the tunnel. The "connection refused" error is coming from the ssh server on server.com when it tries to make the TCP connection to the target of the tunnel. "Connection refused" means that a connection attempt was rejected. The simplest explanation for the rejection is that, on server.com, there's nothing listening for connections on localhost port 8783. In other words, the server software that yo

Connection string works on Web Server but not locally
Why would the connection string work for the MVC application on the test server, but not for my local copy of the MVC application? Because there's a firewall preventing your computer from accessing this SQL server. Or maybe the SQL server is on a completely different network from your computer and is simply not directly accessible. Talk to your network/SQL Server administrator for assistance.

Connection between arduino(wifi shield) and PC locally, with router
You say locally, which means you do not need any port forwarding. All your devices are on the same subnet, and you can directly open connections with each other. Port forwarding would only be necessary if something outside you network wants to open a connection to something inside. Basically, if something on the WAN side of the router wants to open a connection to something on the LAN side. For example, you at a coffee shop on your laptop connecting to Arduino in your house. Note that the reverse does not hold: something on the LAN side can open a connection to something on the WAN side with no port forwarding -- that is the NAT function of the router and is always active. For example, that is how your computer connects to stackoverflow with no special configuration on the router.

able to run my backbone js project on localhost, not able to run locally in chrome browser
I assume that you have ajax requests to sync the Backbone Models with the server, and when you say "on localhost" you mean "with a server running on my localhost and my browser connects to 127.0.0.1:<someport>", and when you say, "run index.html directly" you mean "launch it in the browser as file://path/to/index.html, correct? If I recall correctly, Chrome does not allow you to access file: URLs via ajax as if they were network requests. Firefox did that for some release (cannot recall which at the moment), but there was pushback, it was made an option, then they reenabled it (based on my recollection). Just run it with a server locally, using nodejs or thin or whatever language your server is written in.

You need to use the same object input and output streams for the life of the socket, at both ends. As you are just sending strings, I don't really see why you're using object streams at all: you could use e.g. DataOutputStream.writeUTF() and DataInputStream.readUTF().

how to reset the browser from a plugin
The options i see are: tell the user to restart the browser after installation/update tell the user to close the browser(s) before proceeding with installation Note that you still may have issues replacing the DLL. What e.g. Flash does is suffixing their filename with the version (e.g. npYourPlugin_1_2_77.dll), so file locks are no issue. If you do that you might not even need to restart the browser when you can call navigator.plugins.refresh() (works since Firefox 17, not sure about other browsers though). Also note that i'm not sure about the ActiveX plugin (IE) if you need to support that as well - maybe taxilian will chime in on that and other scenarios i haven't run into myself.

Node.js/Socket.io web app works flawlessly and indefinitely locally but browser hangs when on Heroku
It's difficult to tell without seeing the connection code and error, but initially what comes to mind is setting the connectTimeoutMS and socketTimeoutMS options (typically we recommend 30 seconds, or 30000). We've seen a few issues where configuring the timeouts helps tremendously in connecting to Heroku- particularly after idling. Please write us at support@mongolab.com if you still need help! We'll help find the cause.

MongoDB connection reset by peer
Not sure if this is an answer or even makes sense, but I added one more loop in my insert sequence, and that corrected the problem. It seems that the original object I thought I was inserting was actually a list of documents instead of document-level, and this was implicitly batch-inserted---when I thought I was actually inserting one document at a time, I thought I was already looping at the document level. It appears that over the course of the batch insert, the connection closed.

Reading from udp port in browser
What you are looking for can't be done with in Javascript due to security constraints such as Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attacks. The closest technology available (that I know of) for client-side JS is WebRTC. With WebRTC you can use DataChannels over SRTP and ICE as a possible solution. UDP is a connectionless protocol. You can only get the local port that has been opened. UPDATE: This applies for a static look at the port usage. However, if you have active UDP trafic you can still retrieve the remote endpoint. User Ishmeet suggested uIP or LwIP in the comments. UDP - Wikipedia Connectionless Protocol - Wikipedia

IBM Worklight 6.0 - Socket Exception connection reset
According to the exception, the root cause is that the connection was reset. There are several reasons why this could happen, one being network packets being lost or similar lower level connectivity issues; another possible reason could be that SharePoint is timing out the socket to free resources. The best way to troubleshoot this kind of problems IMO is by sniffing into the network connection using tools like WireShark or Fiddler Please have a look at the top-voted answer and comments to this question for more insights into the problem.

Since you didn't post full code, I am going to take a stab at it and make an assumption: You populate the format string of "GET %s HOST:%s " with restOfURL and baseServer However, during the time of the sprintf call restOfURL isn't initilized so you're pushing garbage data into the first %s Either post more of your code or make sure you initialize resOfURL
