automatically Application close when in apps dialog open in cocos2d android
i think its due to - finish(). May be you have called the finish() in your onPause(). In my case i mistakenly wrote it in onPause for that reason when i clicked the buy button of IAP, always dialogue appeared but game window closed automatically. @Override public void onPause() { super.onPause(); CCDirector.sharedDirector().pause(); //finish(); } After commenting out the finish() method my problem solved. :)

Prerequisite installer (setup.exe) results in 'Unable to locate application file [file].msi' after restart
Just found the problem - my installation was executed from WinZip self-extractor which deletes the extracted files once the setup ends. Because one of the prerequisites required a restart, before the computer was restarted, the files had been deleted by the self extractor... Beware of self extractors folks! :)

Adding PostgreSQL installer to my own application installer
Personally I don't like programs that silently install the standard PostgreSQL for Windows. It's deeply annoying to get mailing list posts from people who're asking "What's this PostgreSQL thing and why is it using 88 bajillion megabytes of RAM, I didn't ask for it, remove it now!". (Yes, I'm mostly talking about a certain annoying gambling card-counting program with the initials PT whose name I will not mention directly). If you're going to bundle PostgreSQL it'd be great if you could use a non-default port and non-default data directory. If you install a service to auto-start it, don't use the default service name postgresql-[version] but something like myapp-database or myapp-postgres. This is all done much more easily if you just bundle the PostgreSQL binaries in your installer then

How to automatically close App_A when I close App_B using batchfile
I'm not very good using the windows commandline, but I would try the following approach: start imulator (which should quit automatically after APP_B exited) start APP_B (using the /wait option - this should pause the batch processing) kill imulator (using PsKill by name) You can find details about start, PsKill and other commands at this site. Hope that helps a bit. *Jost ...added later... Another option would be to do regular checks in the background if a process (App_B) is running and continue (with stopping App_A) when it is finished. This approach makes sense when App_B is only a launcher for another process (e.g. App_Launched_By_B) and comes back directly. This can be done with a small loop which might look similar to this one: start "App_A" /d "C:ProgramsApp_A" App_A.exe

Sencha command not found although it's added automatically in the .bash_profile by the installer
Ok, I was able to fix it, I am using zsh and seems the path variables need to be updated in the .zshrc file. cd root_user_directory open -e .zshrc Same exports added by the installer on the .bash_profile file need to be added to .zshrc file: export PATH="$PATH:/usr/local/bin" export PATH=/Users/Malloc/bin/Sencha/Cmd/3.1.2.342:$PATH export SENCHA_CMD_3_0_0="/Users/Malloc/bin/Sencha/Cmd/3.1.2.342" Start new zsh session and now the sencha command works correctly.

Unable to unistall mysql installer
did you try to uninstall MySQL Installer in Safe Mode? If you don't know how to boot in Safe Mode follow these steps : 1- Start your computer 2- Press on the F8 key during all the time on booting 3- Safe Mode menu will appear and chose Safe Mode... Then, go in your Control panel of windows and try to uninstall MySQL. I think the problem is because MySQL is starting automatically when you log into windows. So, MySQL service is always running and when a service is running you can't uninstall it.. Hope it's help, Dave

PHP Application Installer
Popular CMSs like Wordpress do installation just by copying the files and launching the SQL scripts for the database - create database and fill test data if needed. Which is fine. The real question is how do you install XAMPP in the first place. Because for that it's not enough just to copy files. And even if you do manage to install XAMPP, you have to automatically start the Apache and MySQL. Don't say that it's impossible, but I think you should look for an easier way and deal with that another PC owners.

heat accepts an XSL transform argument to modify its output in any way you need. A simple XSL stylesheet can add an element to a particular File element selected via XPath. This assumes that there is only test.exe in your heat run. If that's not the case, modify the XPath in the match attribute: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:wix='http://schemas.microsoft.com/wix/2006/wi' xmlns:fire='http://schemas.microsoft.com/wix/FirewallExtension' xmlns='http://schemas.microsoft.com/wix/2006/wi' exclude-result-prefixes='wix' > <xsl:output method="xml" indent="yes" /> <xsl:template match="//wix:File[contains(@Source,' est.exe')]"> <wix:File>

When I run application by installer, I am getting error as "Bad method token. "
This type of error is often related to obfuscation problems, especially if you are calling a method in a .dll through InvokeMember. Things to try: As a test, don't obfuscate and see if that fixes the problem. If so, you will know it is obfuscator-related. Try a different obfuscator. Their quality varies pretty greatly, especially the 'community' and 'free' ones. Get a good commercial obfuscator for production builds. As a test, try without the installer. Sometimes installers put files in unexpected places which can lead to runtime errors. Make sure your files are all being installed in the directories you intend. Make sure all your method parameters match in number and type if you are doing any InvokeMember calls. If they do not match, a runtime error will result in code that the

How to bundle JSP tomcat web application in a single installer
It is not an installer like the traditional exe file under windows. What java uses for deploying applications are two types of files. WAR and EAR files. EAR (Enterprise ARchive) is a file format used by Java EE for packaging one or more modules into a single archive so that the deployment of the various modules onto an application server happens simultaneously and coherently. It also contains XML files called deployment descriptors which describe how to deploy the modules. (source) You can use Ant or Maven to build EAR files. WAR file (or Web application ARchive) is a JAR file used to distribute a collection of JavaServer Pages, Java Servlets, Java classes, XML files, tag libraries, static Web pages (HTML and related files) and other resources that together constitute a Web application.

How can an MSI installer extension locate the installation directory of another application?
Writing a registry key during installation and then finding it is quite simple using WIX. You can use the following to create a key: <Component Id="RegistryEntries" Guid="PUT-GUID-HERE"> <RegistryKey Root="HKCU" Key="SoftwareMyApplicationName" Action="createAndRemoveOnUninstall"> <RegistryValue Action="write" Name="InstallDir" Type="string" Value="[INSTALLDIR]" /> </RegistryKey> </Component> Here InstallDir is a WIX property where the user selected target path of your software is set. Once you have this key setup then you can look for this in your plugins installer (assuming there is a separate installer for plugins) by using the following example: <Property Id="AnyNameYouLike"> <RegistrySearch Id="YourRe

SOA application installation best practice: sigle installer or few separate MSI?
I would go with multiple installers, bundled into a big single installer, this allows you to easily separate and test them. The bundle installer has the purpose of capturing the data from the user a single time and pass it to all installers selected for installation. You can do this using Burn support from Wix or other setup authoring tools (that provide you with a GUI, allowing you create the projects and dialogs much easily). Wix is a very good tool, but the time you need to create the projects is too much, compared with the costs of a license for a good setup authoring tool that provides and drag and drop IDE to design dialogs and chain the installation of the separate installers. EDIT To pass values from the bootstrapper to the background installers is very easy, you don't need to w

Create an installer from Visual Studio 2012 to run an application on another PC
As Wix cannot integrate directly into Visual Studio Express, you can install the Visual Studio Isolated Shell Environment along side the express edition. Or you can use a stand alone Wix IDE like WixEdit to author the installer. I suspect that you've downloaded the wrong Visual Studio Express version. The Visual Studio Express 2012 for Windows 8 is meant to build Windows 8 Store Apps, you probably need the Visual Studio Express 2012 for Desktop Applications version instead, even when building on Windows 8, the name is a bit confusing, I agree. Why close() cannot be called on Closeable classes automatically?
close will in most cases eventually be called automatically by the GC through the finalize method (any class can have such finalize that is called by the GC when destroying the object; for Closable types that hold resources it will generally be implemented to call close). The issue of course is that you just don't have control over when this happens (if ever). It could be 10 sec or 10 min from when you stopped needing the object, still using up whatever resource was allocated. So it's good style to clean up your resource handles once you don't need them anymore. Also, since Java 7 you can actually do this: try (BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(path))) { return br.readLine(); } And close will be called automatically at the end of the try block. Automatically close and disconnect a java sshj session
I may not be able to exactly answer my question, but maybe provide help for others trying to do something similar to what I was doing. When I posted, I was under the impression that the ssh session had to stay open for the command to finish, but I don't think that is the case. So what I was trying to do was start a remote ssh session via java, and run a shell script on the remote machine. The shell script could take up to 10-15 mins to complete. I tested a short timeout (5 secs) and the script continued to run after the session was disconnected... which is what I wanted.

How to detect application close when no form is present (console application)
You need to create a console control handler. There is no facility for doing that in the Console class, but you can call Windows API functions to do it. An example in C# is at Detecting Process Exit From Console Application in C#. You'll want to read and understand the SetConsoleCtrlHandler API function. I wrote a couple of articles a few years ago about using the Windows Console API from C#. Unfortunately, DevSource seems to have lost the one that describes this. The other two are available at http://www.devsource.com/c/a/Using-VS/Working-with-Console-Screen-Buffers-in-NET/ and http://www.devsource.com/c/a/Using-VS/Console-Input-in-NET/ Full source for the code presented in those articles is available at http://mischel.com/pubs/consoledotnet.zip.

How to close a WPF application running in system tray from a C# console application?
Use IPC as JeffRSon suggested. MSMQ is a very easy and effective way when two processes are on the same machine. Define a queue of your WPF application and when it starts, no matter showing UI or not, let it listen the queue. Console application can send a message to the queue with closing application message. You have to define the data contract. You can refer to: http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/3944/Programming-MSMQ-in-NET-Part-1

Is it legal to include .Net framework in my custom installer ( not using VS installer)
As long as you follow their license terms you should be able to do it. Redistributing the .NET Framework The other alternative would be to direct the user to the internet to download the installer themselves. If file size is of any concern, then this might be advantageous, as it would also reduce the size of your packaged application (you don't have to provide the redistributable installer).

Determining Installer Type from Installer Binary
All files can be checked with Windows Explorer: Right-click » Properties then Verison or Details. It may not be conclusive. By default, Windows Installer packages built with WiX indicate that in a property viewable with Windows Explorer. For full access to Windows Installer packages, you can use Orca from the Windows SDK or InstMSI, among others. If there are custom action binaries, you can extract those (as DLLs) and check them, too. Custom actions may also use certain naming conventions for properties or custom tables. For example, WiX uses WIX_... for some property names. Similarly, Dialogs might have recognizable names or control layouts. For executables, try CFF Explorer or UniExtractor. Also, the.exe /? might just tell you. But, in general, there is no specification or practical r

Unable to close mergDataGridScroller in iOS
I haven't used mergDataGridScrollers but have used scrollers in iOS with groups - and in an app where I wanted an iOS scroller to slide on and off the screen I had to delete it, slide off the group behind the scroller and slide the group on again and recreate the scroller when I wanted it back. Showing and hiding the scroller didn't cut it for me (as you describe on a device if you do a swipe where the scroller was you'll see the scrollbar) - you'll presumably have to delete and create the scrollers anyway on leaving/entering cards on iOS.
