Is there any way to open a IE window using firefox or chrome browser
There's no way to do this in normal JavaScript. If you really need to open IE from these other browsers, you'd have to write something like a Java applet or something else that would allow a browser plugin to open an external application. And there's no guarantee that the user has Java installed. Probably not worth it; better to ask your users to use IE.

How to use PDF open parameter (e.g. fitH) in Chrome/ FireFox browser?
Searching a solution for a problem very similar to yours, I found an interesting thread on forum.asp.net. http://forums.asp.net/t/1877403.aspx?Issue+with+embedded+pdf+object+in+chrome+browsers At the end of the page, there is a workaround by a user working smoothly in Chrome. That seems to solve the problem. Here it is an example: <iframe src="/Downloads/MyPdfDocument.pdf#view=fitH" width="700" height="880"></iframe> For users fighting with http://pdfobject.com/ -> "pdfobject.js" like me, you can change few lines of code on both minified and develop version of pdfobject. Find: c.innerHTML='<object data="'+a+'" type="application/pdf" width="'+i+'" height="'+z+'"></object>';return c.getElementsByTagName("object")[0]; and change with this line of code: c.

how to get the browser start/launch event for IE , Firefox and Chrome browsers in windows os?
Your plugin loads. You look at the window handle of the containing top-level browser window and you create a mutex or some other cross-process-visible object containing that window handle. When the next instance is created, you check for the mutex and if present, you know the extension was already loaded. Having said that, because of the subtlety in how the browser loads plugins, it is probably worth you updating your question with details of why you only need to run the code in question once.

how to force google chrome/firefox to use Internet explorer web browser control
I would recommend making the page look correct in browsers that follow web standards first (Firefox, Chrome). Then fix up for IE later. There is no way to do what you're suggesting. Those meta tags are for making later versions of IE behave like earlier versions.

bash script openning firefox browser from browser
Make sure you're running your script on a terminal under same user and same X session. The DISPLAY variable should be set. Add this line to know more info: ... echo "DISPLAY: "$DISPLAY", whoami: $(whoami)" /usr/bin/firefox http://www.google.fr ## No need to add &. Your user should be the same as the one on your X session. If DISPLAY has no value, try setting to :0.0 as a quick hack: ... export DISPLAY=':0.0' /usr/bin/firefox http://www.google.fr If it still doesn't work, try to refer to some threads about DISPLAY like here.

Chrome reports this: <li class="Odd" style="width: 159px !important; height 316px;">...</li> But Firefox reports this: <li style="width: 251px; height: 301px;" class="Odd">...</li> Whatever is generating those list item elements is your problem.

Does the IE 10 browser have a shorter internal timeout than the Chrome browser?
Relying on these kinds of wait periods is unwise, because they can change with each new version. Why not have one call start the compression and have the browser poll the server after every 15s (or whate ever value) to see if compression is complete. When compression is complete then begin streaming. This pattern is quite easy to implement in JavaScript and on ASP.NET as well.

Playing a sound in a browser (Chrome), from javascript
Shouldn't it be .play() - with a lowercase 'p'? Depending on what browsers you want to support, you might want to consider replacing your <embed> with an HTML5 <audio> tag: http://www.storiesinflight.com/html5/audio.html. This page has some working js examples as well!

Why do certain redirects cause Nexus Chrome browser to not run Javascript?
You must be consistent with redirects. If you call www.whateverpage.com on one redirect and then just whateverpage.com on another, you are actually going to two different domains, so any cookies or session cookies might be set for one domain but not the other. This is true also if you have for example a page like mobile.whateverpage.com. These are all different domains, so you'll have to treat them accordingly.

(1) No. There no possible cross-browser way to control browser functionality with javascript/jquery. (2) Banking sites do not restrict or control the browser functionality. They only ask users to desist. At most they attempt to detect some actions and then show errors. But, they don't try to control the browser. (3) This is a bad idea.

JavaScript - How to enable arrow key in Firefox browser while validating input fields against special characters
Got the solution of this problem. Just use event.which. Here which is a property of the event object. It contains the key code of the key which was pressed to trigger the event (eg: keydown, keyup etc.). So just get the value fo the key pressed using event.which and check in if condition. In my case in Firefox browser I was getting 0 for arrow keys. so I just added on more or condition like: if ((keycode >= 48 && keycode <= 57) || (keycode >= 65 && keycode <= 90) || (keycode == 9) || (event.which == 0) || (keycode == 95)||(keycode == 8) || (keycode >= 97 && keycode <= 122)) { return true;} Hope it will help other pal. Thanks

You might use a browser detect plugin, like that: Browser detect For simple purposes, you could use: function isIE () { var myNav = navigator.userAgent.toLowerCase(); return (myNav.indexOf('msie') != -1) ? parseInt(myNav.split('msie')[1]) : false; } if (isIE()) { // no jquery } (from Detect IE version in Javascript)

css adjustment with firefox browser
Hard to see without code, but you may have some problems with the two browsers' base CSS styles being different. You could try using a thing like normalize.css as a way of normalising these styles before your own stylesheet. You could also use the web inspector/Firebug in firefox to see what surrounding elements have an effect on the positioning.

Browser compatility issue in firefox
Regarding the plugin error, you should contact the people that create the plugin, they're the only ones that can help you there. But that issue is unrelated to the display issues you're having. Concerning your site, the fact that it looks horrible in both IE10 and Firefox, but OK in IE8 is because the styles don't get applied. What I know is that if your server is misconfigured and transmits css files with a content-type other than text/css, this will cause issues in Firefox when using xhtml doctype - it won't use the css files that way. You should reconfigure your webserver to send text/css for css files and application/javascript for js files.

WebDriver - sendKeys to browser not work in Firefox?
Firefox 22 will not be supported until Selenium 2.34.0 (It may work for some scenarios at the moment, but generally speaking it doesn't work). I would suggest rolling back to FF20 if you want Selenium 2.32.0 to work, or FF21 if you want to upgrade to Selenium 2.33.0.

Also, the Firefox Driver is even more Pre-Alpha-Alpha than the Rest of Dalek, you will experience a few methods that do not work yet. I will highlight that on the page and on twitter. How do I get Chrome to open M3U *outside* the browser
This is a Chrome plugin handling it instead of having Chrome download it. Settings>Advanced>Content Settings>Disable Individual Plugins... If it still doesn't work, there may be a silver shield icon displayed up in on the right side of the address/search bar, next to the bookmark star: I encountered that when running on my self-signed SSL home server and had to enable the loading of the "unsafe script".

Browser (Webkit, IE, Firefox) Change background for select
The appearance property is generally used for two things: Mimicking the native styling of other elements OR removing all native styling (setting appearance to none) It's a pretty weird property. Since you want to remove the native default background, you need to set appearance to none. This will remove all styling (the gradients and the default arrow icons). This isn't a big deal however, since you can just use css to apply more styling to it. With the markup: <select id="menulist"> <option value="one">One</option> <option value="two">Two</option> <option value="three">Three</option> </select> And CSS: #menulist { -webkit-appearance: none; -moz-appearance: none; appearance: none; height:20px; border:

How to create screenshot of web browser without chrome in Qt 5.1
The way to deal with the chrome issue depends on what is your goal. The "chrome" you are referring to is a part of the web browser application that you're trying to interact with. If you're doing this as a quick in-house hack, then you're free to hard code some offsets needed to trim the original pixmap so that the chrome is removed. If you want something that can grab website screenshots and doesn't care on which browser is being used, you should be using WebKit bundled with Qt. Then you have full control over where the stuff is rendered. If you want to grab screenshots from a user-provided browser, then one approach is to add an extension into the browser, and implement a server that can receive images from the extension running in the browser. The extension can be written in javascri

Irregularity css positioning in Chrome Browser
It's because you are using float: left and position: relative on #track_name and #artist_name. Try losing the position and changing both the #track_name and #artist_name to display: inline-block and adding the styling that you're looking for. You also need to set width as currently they are sitting on 0. EDIT Change display to inline and you don't need to worry about width!
