After installing curl extension php stop working
I dont now why it happened but you could just link /usr/lib/php5/20121212/ to /usr/lib/php5/20100525/ ln -s /usr/lib/php5/20121212/ /usr/lib/php5/20100525/ So you dont need to change all config files. Update: You can reinstall php with apt-get purge php5 apt-get install php5 I think a better package manager than apt-get is aptitude.

magento installation error "PHP extension "curl" must be loaded"
There is PHP module php_curl, you need to enable it if you are installing it on local system. This setting is in php.ini file. If you are on shared server, need to contact your Hosting Company. And if you have full server access just enable it.

how to install curl in latest python?
The package is not compatible with Python 3; you'll have to request the author ports it. There is an existing patch you could try out. In the meantime, look into other libraries instead, the requests library does support Python 3 and has a far superior API to pycurl.

Error using curl from git-bash to install chef
You might potentially be able to modify the install.sh and then run it locally, or place it on a server of your own and execute it in a similar fashion, but it will need to be modified for the platform and version at the very least. However, according to: http://wiki.opscode.com/display/chef/Fast+Start+Guide+for+Windows It looks like you can do this following a different method, it does state the following: Operating System Chef runs on many popular Unix and Linux platforms as well as Mac OSX and Windows. We will describe how to set up using Windows 2008 R2 as a workstation and a client, but these are general directions that will also apply to Windows 7. These directions are known to not work for Windows Server 2003 or on systems that have spaces in the %HOMEPATH%. For inst

curl http://npmjs.org/install.sh | sh fails on cygwin
The error is because that URL responds with a 302 redirect. You'll need to use a different URL, which just has a different protocol -- https vs. http. curl https://npmjs.org/install.sh | sh Though, as I noted in a comment above, you can install Node 0.8 or later on Windows without cygwin.

It seems that curl isn't giving the proper error thereby misleading you into thinking that it is some sort of auth issue. Will I need to recompile/install php to add the mssql extension?
Use PDO and instal this http://www.php.net/manual/en/ref.pdo-sqlsrv.php I always use PDO it can easy do all the database interaction you need with different db drivers and the same php code. Except the query languages which is sometimes a little different. For MSSQL you only need to add the drivers just paste the .dll's, add the entry to the conf.ini and restart apache.

Backbone: Getting JSON file from server, to use extension ".json" or not to use it, with url or urlRoot
You see it without .json because the backend someone is using is returning JSON from the url without .json. When I have a static JSON file, I just add .json to it. It's all about the server setup or whatever you have handling urls. And as far as your format, you don't need the wrapping {}. It can be just: [{ "description": "Pick Up Milk", "status": "incomplete" }, { "description": "Do shopping at Market", "status": "incomplete" }] So, my GET is a little more manual when using a static JSON file: $.ajax("./js/json/todo.json").done(function(data) { // I'm only using extend to add in the id. You could just use data[0] var todoItem = new ToDoItem(_.extend(data[0], { id: 1 })); } Fetch isn't really going to work since your JSON file is a collection. You could cr

gem install: ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension
To build native extensions you need the c++-compiler and tools. This is said clearly: sh: make: command not found Except of make utility you obviously need the compiler itself (e. g. gcc) and company. Thus, sudo apt-get install gcc will do the trick. BTW, the properly suggested above RVM-way will definitely require build-tools as well.

Skipping native extension recompilation on subsequent bundle install
I found a way to do this. Here is the explanation: Bundler, by default installs gems into a folder pointed by the environment variable BUNDLE_PATH. The default value of BUNDLE_PATH is vendor/bundle. Hence all gems are installed in /vendor/bundle folder, which happens to be a private folder (for each version of the Rails application). When a new version of the Rails application is installed, vendor/bundle does not exist. Hence Bundler installs/precompiles each gem. It picks up the gems from vendor/cache which is a good saving over downloading the same from rubygems.org, but it still cannot avoid compilation of native extensions. We can override this by passing --path /shared/path to the bundle install command line. This will ensure that the gems are always installed in /shared/path, which

How can one locally install an extension to an existing system python module?
With a change to the basemap package (submitted here https://github.com/matplotlib/basemap/pull/154) I could import the out-of-system-wide mpl_toolkits.basemap in a way like this: (this was quickly made, some of the stuff is probably not necessary) mybasemap.py in the basemap mpl_toolkits dir (might need to change those): from mpl_toolkits import * import mpl_toolkits import sys sys.path.insert (0, './mpl_toolkits/') sys.path.insert (1, './') from basemap import Basemap then do: from mybasemap import Basemap in the final script (after adding the path to mybasemap.py).

Trying to install jekyll, getting the following error: Failed to build gem native extension
Try installing Jekyll from Ruby or Ruby and Rails command prompt instead of any other command prompt I am not an expert at all, so my suggested solution is just a 'guess' based on my experience below. I am using Windows 7. Although you're using Ubuntu and not Windows 7, this solution might work for pretty much anyone with the same problem. First, I installed Ruby from RailsInstaller. Then, I wanted to install Jekyll. I tried installing Jekyll from Cygwin. However, I received the following error (although it is not identical to the questioner's error, I think it is sufficiently similar): $ gem install jekyll Building native extensions. This could take a while... ERROR: Error installing jekyll: ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension. /usr/bin/ruby.exe extconf.rb

get JSON data from url via curl
You're getting NULL because json_decode isn't able to parse the returned string. From the docs: Return Values: ... NULL is returned if the json cannot be decoded or if the encoded data is deeper than the recursion limit. Try dumping the $result variable instead to see what it looks like. It's possible CURLOPT_HEADER=true, in which case the headers would make the response invalid JSON. Edit: After checking your API endpoint, it seems to be valid JSON. While this doesn't bear on your specific question, you should set the Content-Type: application/json header.

Failing to install Jekyll gem native extension on Windows with "multiple target patterns"
Ok just a try. The Makefile on this line (and following) defines the target for .m.o. $(Q) $(CC) $(INCFLAGS) $(CPPFLAGS) $(CFLAGS) $(COUTFLAG)$@ -c $< Everything looks ok if you're using mingw / cygwin, but INCFLAGS can make problems on window machines, if you've installed ruby in a directory with spaces. INCFLAG is defined as INCFLAGS = -I. -I$(arch_hdrdir) -I$(hdrdir)/ruby/backward -I$(hdrdir) -I$(srcdir) and if you see my definition below there is no space in any path. topdir = /C/Ruby200-x64/include/ruby-2.0.0 hdrdir = $(topdir) arch_hdrdir = C:/Ruby200-x64/include/ruby-2.0.0/x64-mingw32 If I change the ruby installation to a path with spaces I get invalid option error in native windows command line and in the mingw session.
