I can connect to the database via SQL Server 2008, but can't connect via Node.js
Sadly, SQL Server and MySQL doesn't share anything but the SQL and some syntax. The protocol of the connection aren't the same. So the node-mysql package won't work for you. You can find the SQL Server driver on this MSND page with the explication on how to use it or directly on the GitHub page of the project.

This version of Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express can only be used to connect to SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 servers
I just ran in to this issue as well but then was able to find the solution. You just need the newer version of SSMSE which is now 2008! Here's the MS download page: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=7593

Client-Server Program: Client can connect to server easily but server can't respond cause target machine actively refuses connections
You need to design your client and server so that the client-to-server connection remains open to recieve the responce and then do something like this: public static bool sendTo(IPEndPoint ip, String data) { TcpClient client = null; NetworkStream stream = null; StreamWriter writer = null; StreamReader reader = null; try { client = new TcpClient(); client.Connect(ip); stream = c.GetStream(); writer = new StreamWriter(stream); writer.WriteLine(data); writer.Flush(); reader = new StreamReader(stream); string response = reader.ReadLine(); if (response == "roger-alpha-tango") { return true; } } catch { return false; } finally { i

SMTP client returning "unable to connect to remote server" - Amazon SES server
There were three issues at hand: 1: The email address it was being sent from was not verified with Amazon, and neither was the recipient (verification of recipient only needed in sandbox mode) 2: The out port I was using, 587, is blocked by my company, which seems to be common practice 3: Using async can only be done when you specify the page uses async in the aspx "header"

creating pdf on server gives error : Unable to connect to the remote server
Ignoring iTextSharp for a moment, try this following code on your production server, obviously replacing the URL with your problem URL. using(var w = new System.Net.WebClient()){ w.DownloadData(@"https://siteurl.com/pdf/11111111.png"); } If this gives you an exception then your server is having a problem talking to the host specified. Sometimes, NAT/Firewall rules have problems using external resolution for internal resources. You might need to update local DNS or add an entry to a local hosts file to resolve this. If the above doesn't give you an exception let us know and we can troubleshoot further.

wicked_pdf does not run on Ubuntu server : wkhtmltopdf: cannot connect to X server
Verify you have xvfb installed, or install it using apt-get install xvfb. Create a file called wkhtmltopdf.sh and add the following: xvfb-run -a -s "-screen 0 640x480x16" wkhtmltopdf $* Change the dimensions (640x480x16) to match whatever virtual screen parameters you want it to emulate. Move the shell script to /usr/bin, and set permissions: sudo chmod a+x /usr/bin/wkhtmltopdf.sh Optionally, you can add a symbolic link in your project directory: ln -s /usr/bin/wkhtmltopdf.sh wkhtmltopdf See this and this for reference.

How to use UnboundID SDK to connect to an LDAP server with the SSL server certificate?
If there is a specific certificate or set of certificates that you want trusted, then you could just create your own custom javax.net.ssl.X509TrustManager implementations that examines the presented certificate chain and determines whether it represents one of the expected certificates. You could hard-code information about those certificates into your code (or better yet, put it in a config file so you could change it without altering any code) and do something like comparing certificate fingerprints to get an appropriate degree of assurance that it is actually the legitimate certificate. If you don't know what the individual certificates will be but know that they all have a common issuer, and you trust that issuer to only issue good certificates, then you could include trust informati

How to connect from a linux server with php to a database that is in a windows server?
Where the database is doesn't matter for connecting. As long as you use the correct credentials and functions, it will connect. If you see any connection method( PDO, mysqli etc ), it doesn't show the operating system anywhere. Database is running on top of the operating system. check for errors in each step. Example: $link = mysqli_connect("myhost","myuser","mypassw","mybd") or die("Error " . mysqli_error($link)); See http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.mysqli-connect.php.

Web Server using wrong protocol to connect to SQL Server
You can set the "network protocol" in the connection string. It's worth a try. Connect via an IP address Data Source=190.190.200.100,1433;Network Library=DBMSSOCN; That connection string is not complete, I'm showing the relevant portions. That sample comes from http://www.connectionstrings.com/sql-server-2008 This article is old, but will explain the Network Library options. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/238949 The 2 most common (in my experience) are: dbnmpntw - Win32 Named Pipes dbmssocn - Win32 Winsock TCP/IP EDIT The other trick is to install PortQryUI, and place this small utility on the "client" machine.......and "poke" the Sql Server, and make sure you get the same results. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=24009 This will help identify any f

Cannot connect to SQL Server named instance from another SQL Server
You've tried alot. And I feel for you. Here is an idea. I kinda followed everything you tried. The mental note I have in my head goes like this: "When Sql Server won't connect when you've tried everything, wire up your firewall rules by the program, not the port" I know you said you disabled the firewall. But something is telling me to give this a try anyways. I think you have to open the firewall "by program", and not by port. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc646023.aspx To add a program exception to the firewall using the Windows Firewall item in Control Panel. On the Exceptions tab of the Windows Firewall item in Control Panel, click Add a program. Browse to the location of the instance of SQL Server that you want to allow through the firewall, for example C:Progra

Error unable to connect to remote server when upload file to remote server
Using the FTP protocol requires a dedicated FTP server software running on the remote machine. FTP cannot access network drives without it. If you just want to access files on your network, start with this SO question: Copying files to a mapped drive while user is not logged in (scheduled task) For security reasons, I strongly recommend a few steps before: a) Do not open root shares like C$. b) Create specific shares on your "remote" server, where you grant access only to users for that specific purpose. DB2 can't connect to the server
First of all, the fact that you cannot ping the server and nmap doesn't see the open ports means your problem, at least at this point, lies outside DB2. Once you fix your network issues, here's the procedure you can follow to set up remote connectivity to a DB2 database via TCP/IP. 1) Optional. You can use either a service name or a port number to configure the DB2 instance. If you want to use the service name, on the server add a line to /etc/services similar to db2c_db2inst1 50000/tcp, which assigns the service name "db2c_db2inst1" to the port 50000. 2) On the server update the DB2 instance configuration: db2 update dbm cfg using svcename db2c_db2inst1 (or db2 update dbm cfg using svcename 50000 if not using the service name). To verify: db2 get dbm cfg | grep SVCENAME. 3) On th

Connect to SQL Server via USB using VB.NET
dont know much about windows ce 5. but the Integrated Security=SSPI is similar to Integrated Security=true. this means the current Windows account credentials are used for authentication sounds to me like, your user "User ID=aigaiosPCAigaios;Password=myPassword" will be ignored. so you have to give the current Windows Account from your device the rights to access the database. if still not working i would suggest you to go the following way, to identify where the problem is: try to ping the server from the client to check if they are in the same network. if ping fails --> fix general network issues Check if remote access for sqlserver2012 is enabled Enable Remote Connections another possible problems could be: firewall, port 1433, disable firewall for a moment use ipadre

why can't I connect the apps to my own server
Though you could have added a logcat, this is most likely why your app fails to obtain the content: static String yahooStackInfo = "http://localhost/21/test03.php"; This tells your android device to try and access itself. Localhost is the device itself. substitute that with the hostname or IP address of your host. You might need to check firewall settings too... Update Updated with the IP in the comment: static String yahooStackInfo = "http://223.18.60.177/21/test03.php";

Connect to SQL Server through IP address
Right idea, you just overelaborated. If the SQL Server is the default instance on that computer, you can just specify it as: Data Source=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx If it's a named instance, specify it as Data Source=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxxINSTANCENAME For SQL Express instances, it is generally: Data Source=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxxSQLEXPRESS If there're multiple instances running on the same server, you may need to leave the SQL Browser Service running (it is generally disabled by default). There is a fantastic web resource out there at http://www.connectionstrings.com. They provide the syntax and options for connecting to just about any kind of server database that's out there. Also, when working through SQL connectivity problems, it's always helpful to turn off your firewall on the server machine unti

Connect to wamp server
The function mysql_connect returns a resource. This means the variable $connection is not an object and so you cannot call the function execute on it. This explains the error message. Most of the database-related function calls in the code (Fields, MoveNext, ...) seem to be ADOdb-related. These will not work on a resource (or rowset) created by the mysql_* functions. See the documentation for ADOdb and the documentation for the mysql extension for PHP for more information. Since the original mysql extension for PHP is deprecated and ADOdb is not updated very frequently, I would suggest using PDO for your database access.

RMI cannot connect to remote server
This may not solve your problem, but I've had similar issues with JPPF (via Java RMI) on Linux. The solution was to ensure that the ephemeral port range on the Client-side machine covered only ports that were allowable by the Client-side's local firewall. E.g., if your firewall allows ports 48000 to 64000 to be connected to by an external machine, ensure that your ephemeral port range also falls within 48000 to 64000. Give that a try and let us know what happens.

OperationalError could not connect to server
You have not configured your django database correctly in settings.py. It thinks your database is on localhost. Sounds like you have a heroku postgres database so your host should be something like: df3-64-304-50-250.compute-1.amazonaws.com Heroku exposes a special database URL through an environment variable called: DATABASE_URL There is a very cool python package here called dj_database_url: https://github.com/kennethreitz/dj-database-url it converts that environment variable to what django expects. you can install it with: $pip install dj-database-url I use the following in my settings.py import dj_database_url DATABASES = { 'default': dj_database_url.config() }

RMI exception. Cannot connect to the server
A codebase is a list of URLs. What you have specified is a file name, not a URL. It is also a rather useless filename, unless the client is on the same host as the server, in which case it is difficult to see why you're using the codebase feature at all. Even if you have a shared drive it is just as easy to specify directories in the client's CLASSPATH as it is to use java.rmi.server.codebase. A codebase URL needs to be usable by the recipient. That's why they are almost always HTTP URLs, or maybe FTP URLs.

Not able to connect to a Win Xp server with MySql
A couple of things can block connections to your machine: a firewall on your WinXP server skip_networking in the MySQL server configuration no access rights for root@some-ip, but only for root@localhost Error messages would really help ;) And you should now, that official support for WinXP will end soon. So I would not recommend installing new software on a Win XP machine. Edit: Ho do you connect to your server? What program do you use?

How to connect to SQL Server from R under cygwin?
Under Cygwin your R is complaining that it cannot find a driver at all. Make sure you check the following: Have you installed unixodbc to manage the drivers? Are you sure you have installed an ODBC driver (like freeTDS)? And are you sure you have set the odbc.ini file with the connection details to your database server? I have not found many references to installing odbcUnix on Cygwin, but it seems to be possible. And if it is MicroSoft SQL Server you want to connect to, they have released a MSSQL specific driver for linux that works very well on Linux and I would recommend above FreeTDS. But I do not know if it is possible to install on Cygwin.
