android genymotion vs emulator
Have a look here for some informal benchmark comparisons. However, take these with a grain of salt because benchmark scores will vary greatly depending on the host system. As for the items you want benchmarks for, not sure that camera/gps can even be benchmarked (what would you test), and networking is perfect since it uses VirtualBox, which has always had great virtual network support. As a graphics/game developer, I find Genymotion unparalleled for running OpenGL code - on Genymotion it runs much smoother framerate wise, than using an x86+HAXM+HW GPU android emulator. Also, the integration of Google Apps/Services in Genymotion is fantastic. Compatibility is the only downside, since Genymotion only provides v4.1+ images there is no way to test compatibility on older android versions -

Genymotion Android emulator - adb access?
OK, nevermind, found the answer at: http://www.thinkdigit.com/forum/tutorials/171043-tutorial-genymotion-android-pc-formerly-known-androvm.html. We need to connect with IP address to the emulator, so I have to find out the IP address of the running emulator and use something like: adb connect 192.168.56.102 afterwards adb works normally. Genymotion player now shows the IP address in the window titlebar. You may also find out the IP address of a running emulator by starting "Genymotion Shell" and typing 'devices list' I also find out that occasionally I have to do the above when the emulator is running for a longer time and somehow ADB disconnects from it. Access host from Genymotion emulator
Try this to verify (works for me)… On your host start up the simplest web server in some random directory: $ python -m SimpleHTTPServer Serving HTTP on 0.0.0.0 port 8000 … Now in your genymotion device startup Chrome and browse to http://192.168.56.1:8000 and you should see a webpage listing the contents of the directory you stared the SimpleHTTPServer in. This shows that connecting from guest to host on the IP address you indicated works. There must be some other issue.

Genymotion android emulator show many log
After trying to connect a 4.2.2 device for debugging, I have solved these ?s. What I do is update my ADT, Android-SDK & Genymotion to the latest version. Good luck! Only after this, you will see that what's that logs. It's normal for both physical devices and emulators. P.S. Screenshot of logcat with genymotion ignored for "You need at least 10 reputation to post images" :(

How can I script genymotion emulator to launch a given avd, headless?
Here is a better procedure. It will require a first manual launch, but afterwards, you will get a blazing fast genymotion, up within seconds. The following scripts have been tested on macos x. They may need some more work for linux. First, launch genymotion emulator normally via genymotion app. Then, get its sha1 from Virtual box : VBoxManage list vms Then, take a snapshot of it from command line : #script genymotion-save.sh VM=6a5d9245-b751-47aa-b38d-989c5f1a9cfb echo "VM is "$VM"" VBoxManage snapshot $VM take snap1 Then you can detect its ip using this script (most of its complexity comes from mac address conversion): #script genymotion-detect-ip.sh VM=6a5d9245-b751-47aa-b38d-989c5f1a9cfb #find mac of vm #http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10991771/sed-to-insert-colon-in-a-m

Strange distortion when trying out a Phonegap project in Genymotion emulator
I just encountered this issue with the regular AVD emulator. The two comments on this question sorted it out for me, does it work for you too?: AVD "use host GPU" cause black screen when testing apps @david Brown i turn android:hardwareAccelerated to "false" in AndroidManifest.xml to solved the problem, but it can't enjoy the hardware Accelerate features (i use android studio now, and genymotion, have same problem.) – hkinterview Aug 26 at 7:28 @hkinterview thanks! I left Use Host GPU on and set android:hardwareAccelerated="false" in both the and tags. Now the graphics load and I get fast performance! – John Jelinek Sep 21 at 21:38

can I scale genymotion emulator to "device real size"?
Ok I get it. You're not running the Genymotion player but Virtual Box. Try to run the genymotion binary (the one where you downloaded the templates) and to launch your VMs from it directly. It brings a lot of improvements.

Then create a new AVD with Google APIs as the platform target.Note: Only Android 4.2.2 and higher versions of the Google APIs platform include Google Play services. Your TextView welcome is null mostly. I think you should do 2 things (2nd one is just a suggestion): 1. Get a reference of TextView welcome in onCreate itself instead of doing it in onCompleted. 2. While updating the text of your TextView, better to do it in the UIThread (runOnUiThread)

Java NIO select() returns 0 in Android 4.1.2 when no network (under emulator)

This is the answer http://astroelec.blogspot.com/ (using Debian) Installing ia32-libs will no longer work as debian has moved to multiarch support. Solution. Use Multiarch Multiarch support makes installing libraries from the i386 distribution easy... sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386 sudo aptitude update sudo aptitude install libstdc++6:i386 libgcc1:i386 zlib1g:i386 libncurses5:i386 Now launch eclipse, and everything should now work just fine.

Intellij can't run app on Genymotion(but can start it)
I just resolve the same problem as you have encountered. First, close Genymotion relate application / emulator Second, uninstall Genymotion plugin for IntelliJ Third, install Genymotion plugin for IntelliJ At last, start Genymotion emulator, then bring up adb console, type adb devices to see if your device is listed. If the answer is yes, go to IntelliJ and run the application with the Target Device option set to >Show chooser dialog. You should be able to see your Genymotion emulator in the running device list now. Hope it helps. (Installed IntelliJ12 on Win7)

Not able to start Genymotion device
I think you should configure your VirtualBox network adapter: The adapter's IP address has to be in the same network (192.168.56.0/24 by default) as DHCP server's IP address and DHCP's IP address bounds. If all those addresses are not in the same network, then your Genymotion virtual device might not be able to start. https://cloud.genymotion.com/page/faq/#collapse-blank Or check log files to get a clue: For each platform, the log files are stored here: Windows Vista/7/8: C:UsersUSERAppDataLocalGenymobile Windows XP: C:Documents and SettingsUSERLocal settingsApplication DataGenymobile Linux: /home/USER/.Genymobile Mac: /Users/USER/.Genymobile https://cloud.genymotion.com/page/faq/#collapse-logs

Trying to run Android game using libgdx on Genymotion
You should try to add the x86 native libraries to your libs folder as mentioned in this post To use the x86 natives, simply copy the x86/ folder from the nightlies to your Android project’s libs/ folder (next to the armeabi and armeabi-v7a folder). The setup-ui will not add those libraries for you automatically. I opted to do it this way for the time being as x86 Android devices are super rare, and you’d just blow up the size of your APK unnecessarily.

Genymotion didn't get an ip address from virtual box
Try downgrading to Virtual Box 4.2.18, if you are using 4.3.X. I had a similar situation to yours. I was using Genymotion 1.3.0 on Win7, with latest Virtual Box 4.3.2. Genymotion broke down after a computer shutdown, and never worked again. I kinda stumbled onto this solution. After downgrading, Genymotion survived one shutdown now.

You can use shared folder for that. It is well explain on this Google+ post. Here is the brief: Go to your VirtualBox VM setting / Shared folder tab Add a shared folder with the folder you want to shared, and check the "auto mount" option Start your VM as usual from the Genymotion software Your shared folder is available in the /mnt/shared directory (multiple shared folders are supported)

Monodroid GenyMotion access internet through code
It's not your code: you have discovered that genymotion is not on the internet - this flaw is by official design. this happens because genymotion (a wrapper for VirtualBox) dis-disconnects the correct adapters (that you may or may not have set in VirtualBox) and uses it's own (faulty) "Host Only Adapter" networking setting instead, and then HIDES that it does this. To fix this highly unfair "bug" (feature?) you have to go into VirtualBox, find the GenyMotion machine by name and then power it off, right click to "Settings" networking and then click under "adapter 2" (tab) and tick "enable network adapter" then click "attached to:>Bridged Adapter" assuming your pc that you are running it all on runs under DHCP it will set up a IP for the Android VM that GenyMotion proclaims as it's own (whi

Unable to create Genymotion Virtual Device

As the blog stated: Known bugs (same as 20121119 release) : Hardware OpenGL/Intel HD/Windows : On most Intel HD drivers running Windows, the AndroVMplayer might crash (in the driver DLL) when starting Android ; you may have to restart AndroVMplayer an important number of times before it suceeds Hardware OpenGL/WebView : On some GPUs (mostly NVidia ?), the browser and all apps which use the WebView component might show scrambled HTML content AndroVMplayer now support window resizing, as well as fullscreen mode ; to use AndroVMplayer in fullscreen mode, you have to : select “manual resolution” and tick the “fullscreen” box press F11 (Ctrl+F11 on Mac) to switch to fullscreen when the player window has appeared

How to start Genymotion device with shell command?
Genymotion proposes a shell: the Genymotion Shell. It is not currently possible to start a VM with it. But you can however launch a Genymotion VM thanks to this command: player --vm-name <VM id | VM name> This command launches the Genymotion's player that gives you access to all the Genymotion enhancements widgets (GPS, battery, rotation, ...), the screen scaling, rendering, ... Like the standard GUI launch. If you want to use a Genymotion VM without the enhancements, you can launch it via the VirtualBox command line like this: VBoxManage startvm gui <VM id | VM name> The VM id can be found thanks to this command line: VBoxManage list vms It displays a list of your VirtualBox machines on this format: name {id}. UPDATE Since Genymotion 2.5.0 you can manage all your G

GenyMotion Virtual Device opens and disappears immediately
I had the same problem (or at least the same symptoms). Try to start the VM directly from the Oracle VM Virtualbox (not via the Genymotion GUI). You should find the Virtualbox somewhere like "C:Program FilesOracleVirtualBoxVirtualBox.exe" When you start the virtual device that way, you get at least a more or less meaningful error message that you can google for solutions. In my case, I had to enable Virtualization in my BIOS and update VirtualBox to the latest version twice. After the first try there was something wrong with the kernel drivers. So I restarted the setup and clicked "Repair" to re-install the VM drivers. Also don't save the machine state when you close the VM. It's safer to always do a cold boot. As soon as you can start the VM from the Oracle GUI, you should be able to so

How to copy virtual devices downloaded by Genymotion to another machine?
The files in the VirtualBox folder are likely just the actual machine configurations, not the downloaded image files. On my system (Windows 8 x64) the downloaded images are located here: Users{username}AppDataLocalGenymobile Inside this folder is another folder called LaunchPad. If you copy this folder to the same location on your other machine it should work. I would advise you install and run Genymobile on the other machine, then exit it and copy the folder mentioned above. Re-launching it should then pickup the image files. You will have to re-create the actual devices, but you won't have to download the images again. I have also noticed that you only need to download 4 images - any tablet with/without google apps and any phone with/without google apps. All the different phon

Emulator does not show anything
It looks as if your like doesn't have quite the correct syntax. I would try: + " LIKE "%" + searchText.getText().toString() + "%"" In addition, I'm confused why you have 'LIKE ?' and not just 'LIKE', since I'm assuming the value of 'searchText.getText().toString()' is what you are searching on. If this is the correct case then then you can pass null for the where arguments also. Hope this helps.

scr is textview and ans is a int. Your app probably crashes. Replace this scr.setText(ans); By scr.setText(String.ValueOf(ans)); public static String valueOf(int i) Returns the string representation of the int argument. Same for all public final void setText (int resid) resid is a resource which is an int value. textView.setText(resid) looks for a resid with that value. If it's not found you will get ResourceNotFoundException. You should use the below public final void setText (CharSequence text) takes a CharSequence as a param http://developer.android.com/reference/android/widget/TextView.html#setText(int) There might me other mistakes also (which may lead to crash). If its a crash its better you post the stacktrace.

My AVD Emulator won't start
Generally, an emulator takes a long time to start up the first time you run it. The way I think of this is that a "system image" has to be built the first time an emulator is run (I don't know whether this is true or not - it's just the way I think of it). On my new laptop, the first time I run an emulator for a tablet device it can easily take 30 mins to start. The tablet devices are sometimes defined to use more than 700MB of memory which is a problem in Windows. Juno will warn you about this if you look closely at the AVD definition. If you reduce this parameter on the AVD down to 700MB (768MB ?) then it should slowly spring into life. Finally, I would check the install with a phone emulator first. Good luck !
