Programmatically add service certificate to Azure roles
Since you don't want to attach the certificate to web role endpoints you can use the same technique as with distributing any binary files. One instance accepts the certificate file and puts it into blob storage, then somehow notifies other instances and those get the certificate file from blob storage and install the certificate. For notifying other instances you can use internal endpoints, Azure queues, a marker in blob storage - anything like that.

How can I programmatically change the IP address of an Azure Cloud Service or VM?
You cannot programmatically change a deployment's IP address, aside from shutting down the deployment (which releases the IP address) and then re-starting it (and that you can do programmatically, or through PowerShell). Also note that if you have several Virtual Machines in the same deployment, each VM will share the same public IP address. Note that with Virtual Machines (vs. web/worker role cloud services), if you have a single Virtual Machine, you can stop the VM, then restart it, and you'll get a new IP address (ok, actually, there's no guarantee you'll get a different IP address, so more accurately you'll be assigned an IP address) while retaining the state of your VM. Shutdown and startup are not an instantaneous operatios however, and it's not going to provide you a per-minute IP

How To Read A Single Value From An Azure Table?
You can use LookupAsync(ObjectID) method. It is defined in the IMobileServiceTable Interface. See here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windowsazure/microsoft.windowsazure.mobileservices.imobileservicetable.lookupasync.aspx So you could do something like myTable.LookupAsync(person.ID) - this will return your requested object or throw an exception if it fails to find a record with the specified ID.

Using SSRS reporting services how to programmatically read subscription last run time and next send time
I can tell you how to find last run time, but not next run time: One way you can do this is to utilize a SQL query against the Report Server database. In the Report Server, you can query the "Subscriptions" table. There is a column in there for "Last Run Time." Run the query below against the SQL Report Server database to see what I am talking about. You can utilize the value in the "Last Run Time" column. /****** Script for SelectTopNRows command from SSMS ******/ SELECT [SubscriptionID] ,[OwnerID] ,[Report_OID] ,[Locale] ,[InactiveFlags] ,[ExtensionSettings] ,[ModifiedByID] ,[ModifiedDate] ,[Description] ,[LastStatus] ,[EventType] ,[MatchData] ,[LastRunTime] ,[Parameters] ,[DataSettings]

Azure - customErrors="off" in web.config is not displaying detailed errors in Azure app (cloud service)
A couple of things to try: Are you SURE the customerErrors attribute is set correctly? The Identity and Access tooling in Visual Studio seems to like to reset that back to "Off" (every time you update via the tool). Are you able to connect to the role instance via Remote Desktop? If so, you could inspect the web.config settings for the site? Browsing to the site from the server might also provide a more friendly error message. When you RDP into the cloud service, you can look at the Event Viewer to see the detailed error messages.

Will multiple instances of an Azure Role interfere when reading/writing to Azure Caching?
The examples apply to multiple instances of the same web/worker role too. Multiple instances mean distinct processes, which is pretty much the same as distinct roles or clients. You may choose to lock the items. But that is orthogonal to running multiple instances, or multiple clients. Note: Locks are expensive! You need to figure out the trade off depending on your scenario.

Publishing Web.Config to Azure removes Azure storage connection string
I had a similar issue to yours. I'm not sure why but when you define the connection strings in the "Configure tab" in the azure portal and associate a "Linked Resource" on the linked resource tab it may override certain properties in the Web.config transform causing unexpected results. One of the options when you set up a new azure website is linking to (or creating a new) database to associate with your website - thereby automatically assigning the related connection string which may try to override your transform operation defined in the Web.Release.config. Check and see if removing all connection strings and linked resources inside the "Azure Portal" fixes your problem. Just make sure that you have both your production database and storage connections strings defined properly in the W

Azure Virtual Network Point-to-Site (ex. Azure Connect) name resolution
I solved this problem by using nbtstat. nbtstat will return the NetBios computer name that correspondent with the ip adres given. As a example: nbtstat -A 10.0.0.5 In Java i created a loop that will check if the given ip is reachable. My Azure VPN range is 10.0.0.x. So my loop will check ip 10.0.0.1 untill 10.0.0.20. If the ip is reachable it will look up the computer name. if the computer name is the computername i was looking for then i have the ip adres to connect to. I use a reachable (ping) to speed up the process. Sample code: Use a loop the check if the ip is reachable. Similar as ping: for (byte i = 1; i <= 20; i++) { inet = InetAddress.getByAddress(new byte[] { 10, 0, 0, i }); System.out.println("Sending Ping Request to " + inet

"The underlying provider failed on Open" Error when using EF5 Code First with Unity IoC in Azure Worker Role against SQL Azure
Thanks to Arthur Vickers who commented on my question, I'll go ahead and chalk this on up to transient errors due to Azure SQL Database connectivity. I was never able to fully prove this, however, I brought up a SQL VM on Azure and created my DB there then changed my cloud service app to point to that DB instead. Been monitoring the logs, and haven't seen the same issues yet... One potential option, if I return to Azure SQL Db is to roll my own retry logic using Transient Fault Handling block from Microsoft P&P, or use a project like Rob Moore's ReliableDbProvider (https://github.com/robdmoore/ReliableDbProvider). When EF6 comes out, I'll look into using the built in capabilities for transient errors. Hope this helps someone else.

How does one access relational data (sql azure) through azure mobile services?
Adrian, The answer is in your question. The mobile service is an abstract layer; that's why you can't access the tables directly. The request from the phone comes to the mobile service, which allows you to run logic, then turns around and accesses the database on your behalf. It's best that ways for many reasons, including connection pooling and security. For details on how the operations work, check out the MSDN documentation on the Mobile Service REST protocol that makes this work. Thanks Herve

best design solution to migrate data from SQL Azure to Azure Table
I would not recommend using local storage primarily because It is transient storage. You're limited by the size of local storage (which in turn depends on the size of the VM). Local storage is local only i.e. it is accessible only to the VM in which it is created thus preventing you from scaling out your solution. I like the idea of using queues, however I see some issues there as well: Assuming you're planning on storing each row in a queue as a message, you would be performing a lot of storage transactions. If we assume that your row size is 64KB, to store 30 GB of data you would be doing about 500000 write transactions (and similarly 500000 read transactions) - I hope I got my math right :). Even though the storage transactions are cheap, I still think you'll be doing a lot of tr

My guess is that Azure Storage Explorer has hard coded URL endpoints for storage. Which when they were all the same, that made sense. I'm ASSUMING that storage endpoints in China are different from all the others. Which would lead me to think that the Storage Explorer tool would need an update to handle the Chinese locations.

What is the difference between an Azure Web Site and an Azure Web Role (July '13 edition)
Nowadays you have the following execution models: -Web Sites -Cloud Services (Worker Role / Web Role) -Mobile Services -Virtual Machines What are the differences between Cloud Services and Web Sites. -Cloud Services: You could integrate with Team Foundation Services and allow it to publish to Azure. (Continuous Delivery). With Cloud Services (Web Role), you have two environments in Azure, staging and production. You can use Staging to validate, and with one click (swap option), apply the new deployment package to production environment. -Web Sites: Web Sites is the right option when you want to create a simple web site. It is also a good choice for creating a low-administration web application, even one that must be quite scalable, or moving an existing IIS web app to the public clo

Azure Storage Table with relations stored in Azure SQL
I might be missing something, but frankly I can't see a single good reason to do this. One major reason one would use a relational database is to store relational data, maintain referential integrity, and rely on the query optimizer to make efficient joins. However since you are not storing the related user or book data in the same database, you cannot create a foreign key constraint on either, nor join data across tables since it does not exist. In fact it's worse because first you have to fetch data from the SQL database, then you have to go out to table storage to get the rest of the data, so you would be making a connection to two different services just to retrieve one list of data.

Which version of Azure SDK is used on the Azure Platform?
I would venture to say that there are two possibilities (in order of likely-hood): 1) CopyLocal=True for the ServiceRuntime and it should be false. ServiceRuntime is already deployed on the Azure machines. You don't want to deploy your own. 2) Somehow your Cloud service config is configured to use an older version of Azure which is forcing the deployed VM to use SDK 2.0 or lower while your code is expecting v2.1. Make sure that osFamily, osVersion, and schemaVersion all are up to sniff with respect to being on 2.1 (I believe schemaVersion is what defines the proper Azure SDK version)

Use Azure Mobile Service Scheduled Task to Access Azure Service Management REST Api
Management certificate is just a standard certificate file (.cer) (X.509 v3). You can put the contents in a string (Don't kill me for suggesting this) or a table which your script would read. Once you have the certificate content in hand as a string, you can attach it to the HTTPS request you are making to the Azure service management API. Nate Good has a nice post on how to achieve this with nodejs. He is reading the certs from files, so you'll have to change that part and replace it with your cert strings.

How do I migrate an existing Windows Azure VM to a Windows Azure virtual network?
I haven't verified the flow, but it should be working fine. Follow these steps: Make sure you are not using static IP on your AD/DC. The IP Addresses in Azure shall always be DHCP allocated! Shut down the AD/DC Copy the VHD blob to a new blob! I strongly suggest that you have the OS Disk (VHD blob) in a storage account which is in the same affinity group as the Virtual Network. So, if the current OS Disk is not in a Storage Account, which is in the same affinity group as the VNet, create a new storage account and copy the original VHD there. Please note that you should copy the blob only when the VM is shut down! Create the sub-net you want to bring the VM in. (probably you already have created it). Create a new VM using the copied VHD as an OS Disk and selecting the Virtual Network and
