Downloaded project .xib file cannot open in XCode 4.6.3
According to the error, the project was probably made in a newer version of Xcode than the one currently on your machine. Update your software and if it still doesn't work, I'd assume it was made with the newest developer only version, Xcode 5. If this is the case you must purchase a developer account at the: iPhone Developer Center and download Xcode 5. If you do not want to do that, you cannot use the project.

Eclipse: Open containing folder for file NOT in the project explorer
Look at the file properties (Alt+Return or via the context menu). The location field is actually a non-editable text which means you can select the value (Alt+LCtrl+ACtrl+C) and copy it to the clipboard. If that doesn't work, then try F2. Some tooltips then become windows so you can copy&paste the content. If that also doesn't work, then I fear you'll have to file a feature request. [EDIT] Seems like you hit Bug 207467 - [PropertiesDialog] Properties page for external files

Add custom "Open With" when I right click on a file name in Android SDK Project Explorer
AFAIK there is no such functionality to add your customize programs for viewing the files in Android SDK explorer. The problem with this is that when Eclipse doesn't know what to do with a given file, it opens it with the so called "System Editor", which actually is... whatever your OS says it is, hence the "rolling dice effect". I don't think you can tell the OS to use Eclipse as the default editor (though I didn't try; anyway I wonder why anyone would actually want to do it), so you have two alternatives: either install an eclipse plug-in to manage the kind of file you want to edit (like e.g. pyDev for python), or go to Window > Preferences > Editors > File Associations and associate your file extensions to the built-in text editor in Eclipse. Why missing in project file cause "The project file is not bound to source control"
This happens because the Solution file has the Source Control Information in it and the .csproj file will just implement what the solution file tells it. <SccProjectName>SAK</SccProjectName> <SccLocalPath>SAK</SccLocalPath> <SccAuxPath>SAK</SccAuxPath> <SccProvider>SAK</SccProvider> The SAK referes to "Should Already Know" as it pulls the information from the solution file. The solution file should contain something similar to what is shown below GlobalSection(TeamFoundationVersionControl) = preSolution SccNumberOfProjects = 4 SccEnterpriseProvider = {3BA58AB2-18FA-4F8D-95D4-32DDF27D184A} SccTeamFoundationServer = http://TFSSERVER:8080/tfs/DPC SccLocalPath0 = . getSaveFileName , getOpenFileName shows me the file to save or open, but cannot save the file or open the file in python QT
These functions only allow the user to select files, they don't actually open or save the files. In PySide, they return a tuple, so for example, saving the file would look like this: fileName, selectedFilter = QtGui.QFileDialog.getSaveFileName(self, "Save", "F:/python/bc_new_latest/bcForecasting.csv", "Excel (*.csv *.xls )") if fileName: with open(fileName, "w") as file: file.write(theCSVContent)

Why does this code write a "corrupt file" that Word cannot open (not even "Open and Repair")?
It looks like you're not calling .Seek() properly on the main memory stream, also you seem to be using that single memory stream for both input and output possibly at the same time. (Maybe it's correct, but it's just very confusing to me when it's mixed mode) I'm assuming you can't access raw filenames and the filesystem: using(Stream t = template.OpenBinaryStream()) { using (WordprocessingDocument myDoc = WordprocessingDocument.Open(t, true)) { using (XmlWriter writer = XmlWriter.Create(resp.OutputStream)) { // TODO re-add merge logic here once it works HttpResponse resp = HttpContext.Current.Response; resp.ClearContent(); resp.ClearHeaders(); resp.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "att

Open only local drives in open file dialog
I don't think this is possible with the built-in OpenfileDialog. Changing the CustomPlaces is just the list of "custom" places you want pinned on the top left. It doesn't limit the places they can go. I think you'll have to either write a custom dialog (ick!) or do something to validate their selection after they've hit ok.

Eclipse Build Error "A class file was not written. The project may be inconsistent, if so try refreshing this project and building it"
We are using Eclipse here too and have to handle a workspace with more than 200 plug-ins. Every now and then people have similar problems with their workspace and inconsistencies reported in a weird way by Eclipse. What people here usually do is (next step only in case previous step didn't help): - trying to ContextMenu->Team->Clean/Refresh the whole workspace - creating a new workspace and check out all necessary files from the repository - reinstalling Eclipse to a new directory From my experience after using the Eclipse IDE on a daily basis for many years, it doesn't make very much sense to waste too much time with these issues, unless they aren't solved by one of the steps above. It takes too much time to struggle with these things, while starting from scratch is done in an hour or le

Unable to open a published MVC Project
With MVC You don't access views like traditional ASP.NET WebForms i.e. /path/to/view.aspx. Everything is handled via routing & controllers. By default you will have a HomeController which will have an Index action which is invoked via a GET request. Assuming you haven't changed any of the default routing configuration you would just need to navigate to www.domainname.com/home to see your Index page. The default routing configuration looks like /controller/action/parameters, MVC will always work this way unless you tell it different. If you don't pass a specific action (like I didn't with the home url) the Index action of the controller is assumed.

Can't Open Project in Xcode 4.6 After Opening in 5.0
It's probably the case that opening the project in Xcode 5 caused it to upgrade the project to a new format automatically (even if you only manually changed one or two files). That upgrade is usually not-reversible. You can probably restore from a backup or from version control. If you don't have a backup or version control, you should perhaps consider setting that sort of thing up before using beta / developer preview software on production projects that matter in the future. In that case, you can probably re-create the Xcode 4 project and re-add all your files, et cetera.

Why can't I open a new Ruby project after installation?
The error message is saying that you don't have thread_safe version ~>0.1, and that it did find thread_safe version 0.1.2-java, but that the version it found was not satisfactory. It could be that the java version was already installed for some reason, and that it prevented installing a non-java version. I don't know. However, try installing a specific version of thread_safe: gem install --version 0.1.2 thread_safe

importing Xcode Project and accessing file with to different project
You have several options: 1) Drag & Drop files from one project to the other but without copying them (make sure the 'copy' checkmark is unchecked when importing the files in your project). This will simply link them and editing them on one project will, of course, have the changes to be reflected in the other project. 2) If you're using a version control system like Git or SVN you can link repositories with each other. For example, in Git you can have your main project and link other repositories to it as Git Submodules. This allows you to checkout the changes from all of your submodules anytime they get updated and it also allows you to simply modify the files in your submodules and commit them to the original repository. There are more ways in which you can accomplish what you wa

Eclipse Project description - NOT .project file - is there such a thing?
Thats an interesting question we also face. Currently there does not seem to exist a solution for this problem. The only thing that could come near to providing one is the Mylyn Intent project, as it aims to provide a comprehensive documentation on design decisions, which takes into account the inter-dependencies between plugins. This inter-dependency is exactly the problem. There exist solutions to document the purpose of java packages which is limited to the classes however. Our solution is a readme.textile embedded in the root of each plugin, providing this specific information. It would, however, be interesting to introduce the documentation used for packages for bundle documentation, which could be used to autogenerate an overview documentation.

How do I open a Precompiled website project when everything has moved
Open the solution directory in Explorer and show hidden files. There should be a suo file. Make a renamed backup of this and then delete the original. Open your solution again and see if that's fixed the issue. If it hasn't , you could make a backup of the solution file (sln extension), open the original file itself and manually edit the paths to match your new format. Note that deleting the suo loses customized information and settings such as breakpoints, tasks etc...

Best way to open phonegap project created with CLI in eclipse
Actually PhoneGap project structure and Eclipse project structure are somewhat different. But they work in a similar way. If you want to create phonegap project in eclipse then you have to create html,js,css within asset/www folder. The java source files will be within src folder(as usual). If you want to create project without eclipse like with command phonegap/cordova create MyApp, then you will get all java source file within project/platform/android folder and html,js,css in www folder which is auto-created. On the other hand in eclipse you have to create this www folder manually. But project is compiled in a same way whether it is created in eclipse(IDE) or in other text editor. I have experience in both Eclipse and Text Editor(SublimeText,Vim). I prefer Text Editor because Eclipse

"Failed to open X display" when trying to run project from within Eclipse
Sounds to me like Eclipse clears all or some of the environment variables when launching the program. The environment variable DISPLAY tell the program how to connect to the X11 server. Without that information it can't open the display, giving you that error. Simple test to verify this: Add the following like right before glfwInit() (never mind that this is not C++ and doesn't use iostream, but that's okay for a quick test: fprintf(stderr, "DISPLAY=%s ", getenv("DISPLAY")); You must include the headers stdio.h and stdlib.h.

Can't open .NET 4.0.1 targeted project in Visual studio 2012

Just like Hans said we can't make visual studio 2012 work with 4.0.1. but 4.0.1 is very close to 4.0. I think as long as you can compile the project without errors 4.0 should be OK. It works in my case.

Working on 2 features on the fork of an open source project
If your second feature is not related to the first, why is it built on top of the commits of your first one? Are you modifying your local master branch directly instead of creating feature branches? If you're contributing to an open-source project, you'll probably want to make feature branches off of the local master instead of modifying it directly. Then you can use your feature branches to send pull requests against the upstream master. If your feature is merged by the maintainer, then you an fetch the newly updated upstream master to update your local one. In the meantime, if your features really are unrelated, then just keep making branches off of the unmodified version of master, or use upstream/master: git checkout -b feature upstream/master
