Blocking a package install in PHP Composer to use a fork of the package
You cannot really block them. You might be able to disable the fetching of info from packagist.org, but this will affect all packages. What you should do is add an alias for behat/mink. See the documentation of composer aliases. Try to avoid branch aliases, use the inline alias.

How to install ROracle package on Windows 7?
I had exactly this problem. It was caused because when installing RTools I did not check the 'edit PATH' checkbox. I uninstalled RTools and reinstalled it again, this time making sure the checkbox was checked, and it worked first time! Hope this helps.

How can I install a .egg Python package on Windows (attempt using easy_install not working)
How about if you unpack the .egg (it's just a .zip in disguise), then cd into it and run python setup.py install? Will that run fine and will you then be able to import your module? I'm saying this because if the .egg file does get put under site-packages as appropriate but you're still not able to import, this might be a problem in the code itself.

How can I install C compiler properly for Python package installation for Windows?
I'm having the same problem, despite installing gcc and mingw-gcc under CygWin, per scipy recommendations. But this might get you further down the track: setup-x86_64.exe -q -n -N -d -R 'C:cygwin64' -s 'http://www.gtlib.gatech.edu/x86_64/release/' -l 'C:Users$USERDownloads' -P git,wget,curl,python,gcc-core,mingw-gcc Eventually I just had to mousily install all the Cygwin packages that came up in the search for "gcc". I only selected those under the "dev" category rather than "debug" and pip install numpy (which compiles and links a lot of C packages) worked fine. Here's my list of Cygwin packages. I'm on Windows 7 (when I can't avoid it), but not Win 8.

"The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package...". Is it possible to install Node.js (v0.10.15) on Windows XP?
So, I figured out how to install it :) I did a double click on node-v0.10.15-x86.msi file in order to install Node. And that caused an error. .msi files shouldn't be installed that way. I found a solution on this page http://thebackroomtech.com/2007/08/23/howto-extract-files-from-a-msi-file-using-the-windows-command-line/ So my steps in Windows command line. I pointed a directory where to unpack node-v0.10.15-x86.msi to: C:>msiexec /a "C:DownloadsProgramsNode.js ode-v0.10.15-x86.msi" /qb TARGETDIR="C:Program Files odejs" And now it works. It unpacked Node.js and all its dependencies to C:Program Files odejs. I just added the directory to PATH. I'm glad I can use Node on Windows. Working under Ubuntu is a pain.

Pip install python package into a specific directory other than the default install location
System: Ubuntu 12.04, Enthought Python Distribution (this is where I wanted to install a new python module) So the prefix_path environment variable didn't work for me and pip still kept installing it in the default location. But I used change default directory for pip install question as a guide. And one of the answers helped me achieve what I needed. pip install -d <path_to_my_directory> For the path I used: path_to_epd_directory/lib/python2.7/site-packages This puts the tar.gz file into the site-packages Then extract it using: tar -zxvf pymodule.tar.gz a directory named pymodule is created, cd into that module and type: python setup.py install and that should do the job.

OpenSSL error with Composer PHP package manager
There is a difference between PHP running inside a HTTP server, and on command line - both cases use their own configuration, so it might be that your command line version has not SSL extension configured. Check for yourself: php -i shows you the phpinfo output on the command line. Any OpenSSL to be seen? While you are at it, use the same output, locate the info on which php.ini is being used, and add the OpenSSL extension.

How do you uninstall the package manager "pip", if installed from source?
That way you haven't installed pip, you installed just the easy_install i.e. setuptools. First you should remove all the packages you installed with easy_install using (see uninstall): easy_install -m PackageName This includes pip if you installed it using easy_install pip. After this you remove the setuptools following the instructions from here: If setuptools package is found in your global site-packages directory, you may safely remove the following file/directory: setuptools-*.egg If setuptools is installed in some other location such as the user site directory (eg: ~/.local, ~/Library/Python or %APPDATA%), then you may safely remove the following files: pkg_resources.py easy_install.py setuptools/ setuptools-*.egg-info/

How to get validationEngine.jquery.css with Nuget Package Manager?
ValidationEngine used by jTable in your sample is different from jQuery.Validation. The 1st one is made buy Cedric Dugas and available on GitHub and you can download all the elements you need (js file, css file, language files) here: https://github.com/posabsolute/jQuery-Validation-Engine. The 2nd one, "jQuery Validation", is a jQuery plugin made by Jörn Zaefferer (more info here: http://plugins.jquery.com/validation/), and is available directly as a package through NuGet when you are using Visual Studio.

How do I Enable Migrations in the Package Manager Console?
Running migrations from a network path is unsupported. EF Team Triage: The migrations commands require full trust to run. Because you are running from a network share it looks like you are running in a lower trust level. In the past we have made the decision that the migrations commands would require full trust because it reduces the complexity of the implementation. http://entityframework.codeplex.com/workitem/856 This means you have to put your project on a local drive, then you'll be able to run migrations.

1) Make your Configuration as a public class: public sealed class Configuration : DbMigrationsConfiguration<YourContextClassHere> 2) Add anywhere the code below, this will run the latest migration and updates your db: Configuration configuration = new Configuration(); configuration.ContextType = typeof(YourContextClassHere); var migrator = new DbMigrator(configuration); //This will get the SQL script which will update the DB and will write it to debug var scriptor = new MigratorScriptingDecorator(migrator); string script = scriptor.ScriptUpdate(sourceMigration: null, targetMigration: null).ToString(); Debug.Write(script); //This will run the migration update script and will run Seed() method migrator.Update();

Visual Studio add custom command to run in Package Manager Console?
Using a custom command described by link, you can run only external tools. In your case, you can run NuGet command line utility. First, you need to download nuget.exe. Then you have to add a custom command, arguments for it and initial directory in External Tools dialog. You can use solution variables (e.g., $(ProjectFileName), $(SolutionDir)) for arguments and initial directory fields. You can use bat file to run few commands. Unfortunately, the NuGet command line utility has fewer features than package manager console. I don't know, is it enough of these features to solve your issue? To use all features of NuGet and to integrate into Visual Studio, you can implement your VSPackage. From VSPackage you can add at any place of Visual Studio the custom command (as a button or menu item

Powershell Include In Project From Package Manager Console In Visual Studio
Every now and then, when I need to see how to automate Visual Studio from a PowerShell script, I have a look at existing NuGet packages. One of them is the SQL Server Compact embedded database. If you open the corresponding feed in NuGet Package Explorer, you'll see that it contains a module for automating VS called VS.psm1. That modules contains several useful functions, one of them allowing to do exactly what you want. Worth to have a look and see how it works.

I was able to resolve this error by installing PowerShell 3 via the Windows Management Framework 3 for Windows 7 SP 1 update (Windows6.1-KB2506143-x64.msu). It's unclear whether PowerShell 3 is required or the act of upgrading fixed whatever configuration issue caused this.

How to install a package using the python-apt API
I have no experience with the API you are reffering to, but: I've done plenty co-op python-projects eariler (in for example Django) using Github. We found out that the best approch was to provide a requirements.txt that the user has to install by doing pip install requirements.txt -r on their server or in their env. It is also simple to make a python-file that checks if all the required modules are installed or not. I think it's a bad thing to automaticly install packages on someone's server without their approval. Simple reading the content of requirements.txt would reveal what has to be installed.

Successfully compiled Oracle package fails when called with 'ORA-04063: package body "..." has errors
Hard to tell what is the issue here, since it doesn't look like we are seeing the relevant code. So here are some thing I recommend to double check: package and package body are there and are actually compiled without an exception you are in the schema/user that contains package and package body. There are no other objects with the same name, that might hide your package/package body the procedure you try to call is present in package and package body. remove all code from package + package body except a single trivial procedure and check if that works. If you've done all that update the question with the results.

Package failing to pass R CMD check 'package is not installed for arch =i386', any reason why this would happen?
A hunch: You are on Windows (or another OS which by default runs multi-arch like OS X), you are trying to run R CMD check and it fails to check on one of its two sub-architectures for lack of a package you depend upon. Also note that R CMD check --no-multiarch ... is likely to help you here.

Custom package using parallel or doParallel for multiple OS as a CRAN package
First, both mclapply and parLapply are in the parallel package, although mclapply doesn't actually run in parallel on Windows. parLapply runs in parallel on all supported platforms, but isn't always as efficient as mclapply. The doParallel package is used with the foreach package, and acts as an adapter to the parallel package. To write a package that works on both Windows and non-Windows, you have a variety of reasonable options: Just use parLapply since it works everywhere Use parLapply on Windows and mclapply elsewhere Use doParallel with foreach The doParallel package is convenient because it makes use of mclapply on non-Windows platforms. For example: library(doParallel) registerDoParallel() foreach(i=1:10, .options.snow=list(preschedule=TRUE)) %dopar% { Sys.sleep(2) }

Using chocolatey or nuget for a package that adds plug-ins to a tool in another package
Answers for the above based on what I currently understand: NuGet is for distributing software libraries (DLLS) that are used for referencing in software projects to build tools/apps/frameworks that are distributed on Chocolatey. You need to elaborate on this item more. Chocolatey has published naming conventions which elaborate a little on package contents: https://github.com/chocolatey/chocolatey/wiki/CreatePackages#naming-your-package

Dart Pub error on package install?
Try pub update rather than pub install so that cached packages are updated where possible. Then use Reanalyze Sources from the same Tools menu. Be sure to clear any logs before running the Reanalyze Sources so you can be sure it did a clean build. If that doesn't get you completely clean, delete any packages directories you see in the project's tree, and any out directories that might be hanging around, as well as the pubspec.lock file. Then run pub install. That usually gets me back to clean builds.
