How to get a line break inside a tag in flex?
Here's what the documentation says about layout in a GridItem: The GridItem container defines a grid cell in GridRow container. (The GridRow container, in turn, defines a row in a Grid container.) The GridItem container can contain any number of children, which are laid out as in an HBox container. If you do not want HBox layout, create a container, such as a VBox container, as a child of the GridItem control and put other components in this child container. So you might try: <mx:GridItem> <mx:VBox> <mx:Text text="blah blah" visible="some condition"/> <mx:Repeater dataprovider="something something" visible="xyz"> <AnotherFileCalled paddingLeft = "5"> </mx:Repeater> </mx:VBox> </mx:GridItem>

How to remove line break after DIV in CSS
It's not a 'line break' that you're seeing; it's because <div> elements default to being a block element. If you want to change the behaviour so that they appear on the same line, you can change the display property in CSS, like so: display:inline; or display:inline-block; If you still want to have width or min-width property (as stated in the question) then you would need the latter of those two, inline-block. Hope that helps.

Remove line break
For the object in which you want to remove the vbCrLf, try using myObj.TextFrame.TextRange.Replace vbCrLf, "" If you want to do this to a string (not an object) you can try something like this: Sub stripStrings() Dim longString As String Dim stringCopy As String longString = "first paragraph" & vbCrLf & "second paragraph" & vbCrLf & "third paragraph" & vbCrLf stringCopy = Replace(longString, vbCrLf, "") MsgBox "longstring is now:" & vbCrLf & longString MsgBox "stringcopy is:" & vbCrLf & stringCopy End Sub As you will see, this removes the line breaks. Adapt for your purpose... edit As Steve Rindsberg pointed out, it may be that your version of Powerpoint is using something other than vbCrLf as the paragraph delimiting character. Here is some cod

Can someone break down this line so I can understand it?
You cannot create an array whose component type is parameterized type. It's not type safe. Although you can create an array whose component type is raw type, but that won't be type safe either. Consider the following example: List<Integer>[] list = null; // Declaration is OK list = new ArrayList<Integer>[5]; // Compiler error: Generic array creation list = new ArrayList[5]; // Compiles fine. But not safe. Gives warning Suppose you created an array of raw types. Let's see what can be the implication: List<Integer>[] list = new ArrayList[10]; // Not type safe Object[] objArr = list; // We can assign List<Integer>[] to Object[] // We can add even ArrayList<String> in Object[] // This will successfully compile, and run. objArr[0] = new ArrayList&

TStringList always doing line break
TStringList doesn't appear to be the right tool for the job, at least not if you're going to use the Text property. As you know from the documentation, reading the Text property joins all the items in the list with line breaks. Writing to that property splits the new value at each line break and creates a separate entry in the list for each item. If you're trying to keep track of keystrokes, you don't want your data structure to silently munge your data by inserting and removing things that look like keystrokes but that don't represent real keystrokes. (In particular, note that reading the Text property will append a line break at the end of the result. That affects your backspace logic.) Use a plain old string to keep track of the current state of the string input.

Line break in expression()?
You can easily use line breaks in regular paste, but this is plotmath paste (actually a different function also with no 'sep' argument) and the (long) ?plotmath page specifically tells you it cannot be done. So what's the work-around? Using the plotmath function atop is one simple option: expression(atop("Histogram of "*hat(mu), Bootstrap~samples*','~Allianz)) This will break at the comma and center the plotmath expressions. More complicated options are available. This illustrates plotting to a graphics file. Ironically, the first effort gave me a display that did have your problem with the 'hat' (are those circumflexes?) being cut off and this shows how to increase the margins. The top margin is probably the third number so c(3,3,8,0) might suit you better: pdf("test.pdf") ; par(m

XML: Concatenate string and line break
use the numrical entity representation of xml: &#x<hex code of char>;, eg &#x0a;,&#x0d; for a LF, CR, respectively. note that this method works without regard to the character set and/or encoding being used as the byte range 0x00 - 0x7f is shared by all encodings (roughly speaking at least. ebcdic will be different. but the dichotomy between unicode encodings vs. byte-oriented charsets will be covered).

Why No Line Break After Input In Bootstrap
Both <input> and <button> have display: inline-block. <label> has display: block and forces button to be rendered on the next line. The workaround for displaying button in the next line is simply wrap it in an element with display: block, i.e. in a <div> element. Look at this FIDDLE DEMO

doesn't mean much to a browser; use <br/> instead. Angular UI Drop-down box inserting line break
Ok so your issue comes from the ul tag (the one with css class dropdown). In your case you should write something like : <div class='btn btn-small' >Button3</div> <span class="dropdown"> <a class="dropdown-toggle">Drop-down menu</a> <ul class="dropdown-menu"> <li ng-repeat="c in collection"> <a>{{c.name}}</a> </li> <li class="divider"></li> </ul> </span> <div class='btn btn-small' >Button4</div> Note how I replace the ul tag by a span one. By default the ul tag have a css property display set to block causing the line break. With the span tag the display is set to inline ensuring that the line will not break. How to add a break to a line while writing to a text file
Your underlying QIODevice (the file) is not really working in text mode. Use QIODevice::Text when opening the file that is used with the stream QFile file( filename , QIODevice::Text ); ... QTextStream stream( &file); For a text stream, both " " and ' ' should work. You may opt for std::endl (or, more precisely, its counterpart in Qt) instead, but this is not really necessary. " " and ' ' will produce proper result regardless of the OS, assuming your output stream is indeed a text stream, and assuming that your generate file on the same platform that you use to inspect it. (The remarks asserting that " " must be used on Windows are incorrect.) An example of a situation when you indeed will have to use " " is when you are trying to generate a Windows text file on a POSIX system.
