JAVA asks to trust SSL certificate after adding it to keystore
Okay I've found the answer, I have no idea why was I adding the exported certificate to another keystore other than the JVM keystore. So the importing command should be: Keytool -import -alias root -file "JRE_HOME/lib/security/server.cer" -keystore JRE_HOME/lib/security/cacerts"

Digest Value ,trust store, Certificate validation mode
Messages look very similar, a little disappointing that the server rejects WCF. You should be prepared that this can take some time to troubleshoot. I would try debug this with the following different approaches: Based on the error message I assume the challenge is in the digest calculation. See how the soap UI has this element "". This element is an instruction to the signature signer/validator. Maybe the server hard codes this value into its signer in some way so the fact that WCF does not have it affects the digest. WCF cannot be configured to have this (usually it is not a problem not to have it). See if there is any configuration in SOAPUI where you can also not use it and see if it still works. replace SignBeforeEncrypt with EncryptBeforeSign setup a WCF service for the same WCF cl

Retrieve PEM cert: SSL_connect returned=1 errno=0 state=SSLv3 read server certificate B: certificate verify failed
you can disable certificate verification for a given instance of Net::HTTP: stock.verify_mode = OpenSSL::SSL::VERIFY_NONE or you can disable SSL verification globally in your process using: OpenSSL::SSL::VERIFY_PEER = OpenSSL::SSL::VERIFY_NONE Note: Ruby interpreter will give you warning that constant is already initialized. Sometimes you might get hard error. if that's the case you can unassign constant and initialize it again using following code: OpenSSL::SSL.send(:remove_const, :VERIFY_PEER) OpenSSL::SSL.const_set(:VERIFY_PEER, OpenSSL::SSL::VERIFY_NONE) This is not a perfect solution for your problem, but if security is not a big cocern, you can use above methods to bypass SSL Cert verification. You will still have encrypted secure connection to server.

How do I make my program ask for firewall permisions
Basicly, Firewall supposed to pop up automatically (in my programs it did), but if it don't you can add firewall rules programatically, as explained here or here. Also, consider asking Administrator authentication: <requestedExecutionLevel level="requireAdministrator" uiAccess="false" /> Good luck!

How to make use of ARM Trust Zone in Android Application
You can't use it directly. You need to develop (or buy) a trusted application and then have your app talk to it through the secure API it provides. This may or may not be usable on all devices, so unless you control the device and/or firmware, it is not guaranteed that you can use it all. The system keystore on some devices already uses hardware-backed storage for RSA keys (Nexus 7 for example), but it is not standard and some devices only have a software implementation.

Can I use SQL Server-2012 Express edition over a network when the FIREWALL is on
You still need to make sure you're connecting through a known port, and open that port on your firewall. In the configuration manager, open the TCP/IP settings. Under IPAll, ensure Dynamic Ports is blank and TCP Port is 1433. Then, make sure 1433 is allowed inbound on your firewall. If you have a network level firewall, check with it's administrators to make sure that port is open. Yes, network sharing will work with the professional edition with a firewall - just need to make sure the correct ports are open.

VisualSVN Server - create repository on server from desktop computer
Well, the documentation of VisualSVN Server about remote admins is clear: Remote Server Administration is one of the key benefits of the VisualSVN Server Enterprise Edition So that feature is only available with the other edition. Before you decide, you should know what your goals are: Provide a SVN repository only for yourself or for others? Include some authentication / authorization methods to it? ... Depending on the answers, you will have different options: Run a standalone SVN server on the "different workstation" (Windows or Linux?) Run apache on the different workstation in front of the repositories. See the documentation in the SVN Red Book which option is the most appropriate for you.

Why is my certificate not valid unless I put the Sub CA certificate in the trusted root certificate authorities?
To elaborate on Erik's comment, trusting the Root CA certificate means that you will trust what the Root CA directly signs. If you have an intermediate Sub CA in the middle, its certificate is signed by the Root CA, and the Sub CA signs your certificate directly. Root CA ---signs/verifies---> Sub CA ---signs/verifies---> End user certificate As Erik said, if you do not have the Sub CA certificate present, then there is no way to link the Root CA to the End user certificate. The Root can verify the Sub CA certificate, and the Sub CA can verify the End user certificate, but there is no way for the Root to skip over the Sub CA and verify the End user certificate because the root did not sign the End user certificate. 2 ways to resolve this are: include the Sub CA cert in your tru

How to use UnboundID SDK to connect to an LDAP server with the SSL server certificate?
If there is a specific certificate or set of certificates that you want trusted, then you could just create your own custom javax.net.ssl.X509TrustManager implementations that examines the presented certificate chain and determines whether it represents one of the expected certificates. You could hard-code information about those certificates into your code (or better yet, put it in a config file so you could change it without altering any code) and do something like comparing certificate fingerprints to get an appropriate degree of assurance that it is actually the legitimate certificate. If you don't know what the individual certificates will be but know that they all have a common issuer, and you trust that issuer to only issue good certificates, then you could include trust informati

Actors make my computer hang
Looks like you are not terminating your Actorsystem and hence the application does not terminate. At the end you need to call system.shutdown which will shutdown the ActorSystem. Internally ActorSystem manages threads which needs to be terminated for the application to terminate. shutdown terminates them. Not calling it will prevent your application from shutting down as the threads will still be alive.

Update Drupal from non-server computer
You cannot upgrade your drupal 6 live site by simply clicking on an upgrade to D7 button. Drupal is a modular system. If you upgrade the drupal core to version 7, all contributed and custom modules must be replaced by D7 counterparts. Even worse, Drupal 7 differs conceptionally from Drupal 6. An upgrade to D7 is possible, but not in an automatic process. You have to do the complex upgrade process by hand. Your question suggests that you should probably stay with Drupal 6.

One common error is to use the wrong address when creating the listening socket. If your listen from only local connections will be accepted. You should listen on to allow connection from any IP address. To do this in my windows code I've used in the past addr.sin_family = AF_INET; addr.sin_port = ...; addr.sin_addr.s_addr = 0; but seems that INADDR_ANY is a better way to say 0.

Can a WPF app with .sdf database run on a computer without SQL Server installed
Yes, it can! SQL Server Compact (that produces and uses .sdf) is the only SQL Server edition that does not require a server to be installed. All its code and logic is contained in the handful of DLL's that you need to include with your application. Just ship your app with those DLL's and you should be fine. Read more about SQL Server Compact and how to use and deploy it on MSDN. SQL Server Express (and any of the other editions, like Web, Standard, Developer, Enterprise) on the other hand does require an installation of the SQL Server Express edition - either on that machine, or somewhere in the network where your app runs (remote connections from the network are disabled by default, but can be enabled).

Connect WinForms to SQL Server 2008 R2 from another computer
Yes. When you're setting up your database connection string, you can specify a remote machine, but it will have to have some sort of RDMS installed and running on it--you can't open a connection to a server that isn't running. Since there are plenty of different databases out there you could connect to, I sometimes go to http://www.connectionstrings.com/ to figure out how to put one together.

What can I do that a SQL Server attached file can not delete from computer?
From the SQL side, nothing. The only thing you can do is restrict administrative access to the computer itself and set proper file permissions on the directory and files that the database resides in. If a Administrator user wants to delete your file there is nothing you, as a programmer, can do about it.

SQL Server Express connection to another computer by changing exe.config
If you want to use a local SQL Server Express instance using AttachDbFileName for a database located on another computer it will not work: SQL Server requires local filesystem access because it does some interesting under-the-hood filesystem stuff with the database files (.mdf and the log files), so MDF files located on a network share (UNC path) or Internet location will not work, see here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms254500(v=vs.80).aspx System.Data.SqlClient resolves the substitution strings into full paths against the local computer file system. Therefore, remote server, HTTP, and UNC path names are not supported. An exception is thrown when the connection is opened if the server is not located on the local computer. If you want to connect to an already-running SQL

Hosting Java server on my own computer, using "no-ip" for static access
This seems like a port forwarding problem to me. No-IP resolves the external IP address of your iPhone for you, so your packets go there. The iPhone does not know how to handle them. You would need to forward them from your iPhone to your local PC's IP address, but I do not know if that is possible. When using your router at home, port forwarding should be no problem at all.

Java Server with Multiple SSL Certificate
Being able to use two server certificates on the same IP address and port is possible via the Server Name Indication (SNI) extension, which must be supported by the client and the server. Java supports this on the client side since Java 7. Unfortunately, this is not supported on the server side yet. This is planned for Java 8. Meanwhile, if you do need SNI support on your server, you may be able to use another server to handle the SSL/TLS connection and forward the plain text connection to your application. Typically, this can be done with Apache Httpd (with a reverse proxy) for HTTP(S). Alternatively, it looks like the HTTPS-SNI-Proxy project may be more flexible for other protocols (despite having HTTPS in its name). I haven't tried it, but according to its README, it looks for the S

How to use Javascript/JQuery make REST request with X509 certificate?
No. You can't use pure (browser based) JavaScript / jQuery to program against Azure REST Management API. And there are couple of reasons for that. First and foremost is that Azure REST Management does not support CORS (Cross-Origin Resource Sharing). Other one is authentication - there is no way to work with X.509 in browser based JavaScript.

The certificate is not packaged into your app. It's only required by your server in order to send push notifications. Therefore you should only update the p12 file on your server. It will work for both users who use the new version and users who use the old version of your app. If you don't update the certificate on your server, you won't be able to send push notifications to any version of your app, since, as you said, the old certificate has expired.
