How is the search results page for Google created?
the inspect element option lets the browser construct the DOM tree No. The browser constructs a DOM tree from the HTML. It then modifies it as required by any JavaScript. The DOM Inspector just provides a different UI on to it, the tree is already constructed. If I do a simple 'view source' on the results page and look for the text 'h3', I should be able to see something right? Only if it appeared in the HTML and wasn't generated from Javascript.

Showing multiple results in search engine
Bon jour! You have to do a while cicle. $nmanufacturer = $tApplication[2]; $manufac = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM tManufacturers WHERE Manufacturer='$nmanufacturer'"); ?> <select class="form-control"> <?php while($manufact = mysql_fetch_array($manufac)) { echo '<option>' . $manufact[1] . '</option>'; } ?> </select> The mysql_fetch_array function returns an associative array, but it also returns FALSE if there are no more rows to return! Using a PHP While Loop we can use this information to our advantage. If we place the statement "$row = mysql_fetch_array()" as our while loop's conditional statement we will accomplish two things: We will get a new row of MySQL information that we can print out each time the while loop checks its conditional stat

google json api search results limit, not 100 search queries per day
another year passed... Limits are the same =(( Google forces us to use multiple accounts to get complete search results. Use a query per day/week/month. Or you can sort huge result array by publish date. And when '100-items' limit is reached you should execute new request with excluding first items by applying "the lowest(or the highest) possible value" condition on publish date. btw, using webbrowser you could set 100 results per page. So total count of result items is 1000 per query. Web crawling would be helpful=)))) be happy!

How to use foreach statement to loop through Faroo json search engine results?
Remove the jsoncallback parameter from the request... what's being returned isn't valid JSON. Removing this parameter fixes the issue. I'd check into json_last_error if you run into issues with JSON in the future- it can be very helpful!

Complex Google App Engine Search
1) The SearchService basically gives you an API to perform the sorts of things you can't using the datastore. If you could do them on the datastore, you wouldn't really need the SearchService. While not a very satisfactory answer, many of the common operations you might do with a traditional RDBMS were not really even possible before the Search API was available. 2) is a bit harder. Currently the search api doesn't handle failure conditions very well, usually you'll get a SearchServiceException without a meaningful message. The team seem to have been improving this over the last year or so, although fixes in this space seem to have been coming very slowly. From the tickets I've raised, failures are usually a result of queries running too long. This is usually represented as queries that

search form that redirects to search results page, rails
You can do it like this: <%= form_tag "http://www.stackoverflow.com/questions", :method => 'get',:id => "products_search" do %> Put whatever you need in place of that URL. for more info please look at the form_tag helper documentation But if you need actually to be trough that path you were using, you have to use a redirect or a forwarding. For using a forwarding just call the name of the next action near the end of that action yuo are calling. Something like: def another_action ... end def product ... another_action end For using a redirect just do it like: def products redirect_to another_action end

Google App engine Search API Cursor not not updating
The problem is that you getting the same 5 results over and over again. Every time you do results = index.search(query) inside your loop, you're retrieving the first five results because your query options specify a limit of 5 and empty cursor. You need to create a new query starting a the new cursor on every iteration. cursor = search.Cursor() index = search.Index(name='title') while cursor != None: options = search.QueryOptions(limit=5, cursor=cursor, returned_fields='state')) results = index.search(search.Query(query_string=text_to_search, options=options)) cursor = results.cursor Take a look at the introduction section of this page: https://developers.google.com/appengine/docs/python/search/queryclass

Sorting results by 'order' in google app engine causing an error
db.Query expects a class to be supplied as its first argument (or model_class keyword argument). class Query (model_class=None, ...) model_class Model (or Expando) class representing the entity kind to which the query applies. Source I managed to reproduce your problem when I supplied an instance of the db.Model derived class (an entity) to db.Query. Try replacing docket with the class or docket.__class__. The exception occurs when db.Query.order method attempts to test whether model_class is a subclass of db.Expando. Since it uses the built-in Python function of issubclass, it requires its argument to be a class. Filtering works because db.Query.filter makes no such attempt to establish whether your Model extends db.Expando.

Is it possible to change the default search engine with a Google Chrome extension?
You cannot not set the default search engine to an extension-defined search engine: Allowing an extension-added engine to be default is problematic because there's no clear fallback path for when the extension is uninstalled -- especially if the previous default (or worse, all other engines) are deleted first. This could allow us to get into a "no engine as default" case which Chrome isn't prepared to handle. Chrome does support keywords directly, e.g. add a search engine for Wikipedia and make the keyword "w", and "w foo" will search Wikipedia for foo. Perhaps you can use this native capability as a workaround? You can add a new keyword-based search provider via the chrome.omnibox API (but you cannot make it the default).

How to backup the Google App Engine Full Text Search documents?
No, you can't use download_data to backup full text search stored indexes. They are like datastores functionally and they are stored similar. If you want to "backup" the data, you can programmatically fetch them and copy them into another search index and then save it. Or simply pull it out and save it to Cloud Storage or something similar. In summary, there is no one command solution for backing up Full Text Search Index data; you must write code to fetch, write and save them somewhere.

Using Search Engine APIs to replace my own crawling (for non search engine purposes)?
You will not want to use a search engine to do this. Search engines will not index all content on a site. If a site has lots of similar pages, for example, they will be thrown out. Sites with large number of pages will not be completely indexed. You could potentially miss lots of pages this way. Keep it crawling! P.S. Crawling individual websites often violates their TOS. If you care about that, also take care to adhere to robots.txt.

What are the pros & cons of using Google CSE vs implementing dedicated search engine for a site like stackoverflow?
This depends on the content of your site, the frequency of the updates, and the kind of search you want to provide. For example, with StackOverflow, there'd probably be no way to search for questions of an individual user through Google, but it can be done with an internal search engine easily. Similarly, Google can outdate their API at any time; in fact, if past experience is any indication, Google has already done so with their Google Web Search API, where a lot of non-profits that had projects based on such API were left on the street with no Google options for continuation of their services (paying 100 USD/year for only 20'000 search queries per year, may be fine for a posh blog indeed, but greatly limits what you can actually use the search API for). On the other hand, you probably

App not in search results on Google Play
This is not that uncommon an experience. I think your app doesn't have enough unique keywords in the name, so it is not showing up. My app also uses very common words ("Droid Of The Day"). For the longest time, I didn't show up in search results at all (I would search my name, and go through all 20 pages of results, and never see my app). Each of the words in my name were being ignored I think, as they weren't unique). Bottom line, I didn't want to change my name, so I suffered a bit (until I hit a critical mass of downloads, and so my search rank went higher). You can change your name in the Play Store Console, so I would suggest trying some different combinations of words, and try to find some that are unique to yourself (maybe 'Poker Wars' or something). There is a tool on AppBrai

Remove URL Params after page loads in Google App Engine
HTTP GET requests usually include the parameters in the URL since there's no other place to pass them (there's no request body). HTTP POST requests usually include the parameters in the request body, though it's still possible to include the parameters in the URL. It looks like you're using some sort of Javascript to post the form. Make sure you are using a POST request and putting the parameters in the POST body. Most libraries automatically put params in the POST body as long as you're issuing a POST request. EDIT: Forms usually issue POST requests by default. Usually the <form> element will have an action attribute that specifies the URL to send to. However, if it doesn't have an action attribute it'll issue a POST request to the current URL. In your case the current URL

Can I “reuse” Google search results in my application?
Screen-scraping the search results from the Google search site is a violation of their terms of service. I don't think they would use CAPTCHA to prevent you from doing so, but you might get a letter from their lawyers. However, you could use the Google Custom Search API which allows you to search Google and customize layout of the results. However, you need to acquire a developer key and also follow their terms of service. Also, Android has a search component built into it that you can probably use. See http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/search/index.html.

Custom google search does not return any results
The public url for your search engine brings results, e.g. for the query "office": https://www.google.com/cse/publicurl?cx=017015442779235202717:g8u07nzbkmi This means that the engine is working in general. First of all, check the "Look and feel" tab of your CSE Control Panel. You are trying to have searchbox and searchresults display separately, so you need to select the "two page" option (one page with the searchbox and second with the results) and save the new configuration. Secondly, make sure that your SearchResults.aspx script append the "q=" parameter when redirecting user to the results page (e.g. ?q=office). The element on that page reads this param from the url and displays results for the included query ("office").

How would a completely dynamic (every page dynamically generated) web site remain search engine-friendly?
Search engines access websites nearly the same way as a visitor. If the search engine web crawler gets to www.example.com/news/recent, it will index the results which will then be search-able. Most websites have static links to point to content, so the top news article might be on www.example.com/news/recent, but it could also be on www.example.com/news/9234. That gives search engines somewhere permanent to link to. The search engine doesn't care if www.example.com/news/9234 really loads www.example.com/pages/newsitems.php?item=9234, that's all hidden. Another handy way is through site maps, which provide the search engine a direct list/map of pages on the website that can be more complicated/less pretty.

WordPress Search Results on Page
This is the simplest way I can think of to link a category's post with a page. Use Advanced Custom Fields to create a new field in your pages called "News Category" with a Field Type of 'Taxonomy' and the Taxonomy of 'Categories'. This will allow you to select the categories to associate with each page. In your template file for your candidate pages, use wp_get_recent_posts (http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_get_recent_posts) and set your 'category' in your $args to the the result of get_field() (http://www.advancedcustomfields.com/resources/functions/get_field/). This will return your most recent posts for the category you select for that page. All you have to do is format the data as you'd like.

can not figure out relation between yaml and main page handler in google app engine
You haven't got (and don't need) a unit1.app or unit2.app, so I don't know why you've referenced them in app.yaml. As you can see from the Python code, there is one object called app, which contains the routes for the whole application. I presume (although you don't state) that the Python file is called "main.py". which is why the app.yaml refers to main.app - ie the app object in the main module. The purpose of the URLs in app.yaml is simply to hand off to the Python code. So, you only need a single handler: the first one. Delete the other two handlers. That captures everything under / and passes it to main.app. In that file, the first route defined at the bottom should be: ('/', MainPage) because you don't want to capture everything in that route, only the specific root URL.
