Web Deploy Command Line Logs in Event Logs (Updated / Inserted / Deleted Files) in event logs
I don't believe you can log the activities to the event log, but what you can do is use the -xml parameter to output the changes in XML format. You could then use this to log to the event log via a Powershell script, for example.

Running only one instance of an application,(Quit new instance and Display old instance or give Focus)
What you need to do is to add this to your main class: [DllImport("user32.dll")] static extern bool SetForegroundWindow(IntPtr hWnd); Then you need to obtain a reference to the process that is already running, and then call the SetForegroundWindow method like this: SetForegroundWindow(SameProcess.MainWindowHandle); You do not need to kill the current process like you are currently doing, just return after focusing the other process' main window as shown above This is a full working example: [DllImport("user32.dll")] static extern bool SetForegroundWindow(IntPtr hWnd); /// <summary> /// The main entry point for the application. /// </summary> [STAThread] static void Main() { var currentProcess = Process.GetCurrentProcess(); foreach (Process p in Process.GetP

Tomcat access logs - are failed requests included?
It is more likely that your Tomcat process is leaking memory until it got no more free memory. Try to log the heap size with each request, and then notice if it keeps growing. The tomcat class loader can leak memory, especially if you use the "automatic deploy" feature. long freeMem=Runtime.getRuntime().freeMemory(); long maxMem=Runtime.getRuntime().maxMemory(); long totalMem=Runtime.getRuntime().totalMemory(); And then log freeMem/MaxMem and totalMem. If max keeps growing you got a leak. Edit: And to answer your question. That depend on exactly how tomcat fails, and how you have set up logging. But with our system(A rather default apache mod_proxy=>tomcat, there are some fatal tomcat errors which are only logged in catalina.out

curl_easy_perform() failed: failed FTP upload (the STOR command) error
Set curl_easy_setopt(curl, CURLOPT_ERRORBUFFER, char* allocatedMemoryForErrorBuffer); The character pointer will have a bit more detail about the error that is occurring. Typically, this works for HTTP requests but my understanding is that it should work for FTP as well.

Create EC2 instance from another instance via command line or dynamically
You can utilize EC2 APIs for this purpose. ec2-run-instances (http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/CommandLineReference/ApiReference-cmd-RunInstances.html) is a command that allows you to create a new instance from your own (or public) AMI. You can also specify the number of instances you wish to create. There are also Web Service operation (RunInstances) for this purpose: http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/APIReference/ApiReference-query-RunInstances.html Which one to use is up to you. However, I don't think starting a new instance from a master instance is a good practice in AWS. You can rely on Elastic Load Balancing (http://aws.amazon.com/elasticloadbalancing/) and Auto Scaling (http://aws.amazon.com/autoscaling/) to scale up/down your server fleet depending on incoming t

Chromecast app starting from sample TicTacToe - failed to start application: request failed
In file README_ECLIPSE.txt it says: In GameActivity at line 91, the code makes a call to the app name "TicTacToe". This is a whitelisted app name at which the TicTacToe receiver is located, so you can simply build and run the app without worrying about whitelisting your own receiver. So please do not change anything in the sample code (to replace with your AppId), just build and run to see if it works for you. If you can't make that work, please check the answer here: Unable to debug Whitelisted device / ApplicationSession failing to start

Eval command is throwing logs on console-How to suppress it?
You seem to be attempting redirection after assigning eval output to a variable. You need to say: temp=`eval "$tempVal" 2>/dev/null` instead. Moreover, consider using $(...) instead of backticks: temp=$(eval "$tempVal" 2>/dev/null)

how to increase efficiency of invoke-command using session to collect logs from remote computer in powershell?
(I can't comment yet as I don't have enough reputation) Would some of the other Event Log based cmdlets be useful here? For example: Get-EventLog (if using v2 or newer) Get-Event (if using v1) Get-WinEvent Take a look at the output of Get-Command *event* for more options depending on what exactly you need to collect and what you need to do with it. You could use the Measure-Command to see which returns the data faster.

Singleton across JVM or Application instance or Tomcat instance
If you have a singleton class and you run two webapps that use this class in Tomcat both webapps will get 2 different instances of this singleton in JVM running the Tomcat. But if your webapp will use a singleton from JRE or Tomcat shared libs, eg Runtime.getRuntime webapps will get the same instance of Runtime. This is because Tomcat uses individual class loaders for webapps. When a webapp class loader loads a class it first tries to find it on webapp class path, if the class is not found it asks parent class loader to load the class.

Python correctly finding and reading windows application event logs
You are using a 32bits python on a 64bit install of windows. In most cases, whenever a 32-bit application attempts to access %windir%System32, the access is redirected to %windir%SysWOW64 You can use os.listdir("c:windowssysnativewinevtlogs") as a workaround to read from the real system32 dir from a 32bit python interpretter runing on a 64bit windows... Setting up logs using log4j for a scheduled batch program (console application)
For automatic configuration the log4j configuration file should be on the root of the classpath, e.g. packaged in your .jar on the top level. There is also a environment variable to specify the location -Dlog4j.configuration=.... This answer may help you further. If your application is exclusively used standalone, putting the config inside the .jar should be ok. But note, that this causes trouble and hard to find misconfigurations if that .jar is used in context of another application, e.g. a web application. I would suggest to distribute the console application as a bundle with a starting script and the log config outside the .jar.

GST_DEBUG: How to save logs in a separate file for a thread inside an application
GST_DEBUG_FILE=/tmp/gst.log will put all the logging into that file, but for separate log for separate threads you will need to write your own loghandler. Have a look in gstinfo.c, and gst_debug_add_log_function. As for your Q2, again, you will need to write your own loghandler if you want it to start from GST, since these other fields (timestamp, process-id, thread etc.) are included in the default loghandler. (again see gstinfo.c, gst_debug_log_default)

How to get access to specific instance of AutoCAD application via C# external application
This is typical behavior for "heavy" programs, like AutoCAD. MS Word is another example. They are single-instance apps. If you already have AutoCAD running then the second time you start it, it passes the command line to the first instance to ask it to open the document. And exits. So there really is only one process, it has multiple documents opened. Use Taskmgr.exe, Processes tab to verify this.

SQL Server Express cannot create a user instance using the set of engine files in your local app data folder, deleting them should allow SQL Server to recreate them with the correct credentials for you to F5 successfully.

VBA Application.Quit command not closing the entire Excel Application
remove the Application.DisplayAlerts = True from the routine. from the help for Application.Quit Method: If unsaved workbooks are open when you use this method, Microsoft Excel displays a dialog box asking whether you want to save the changes. You can prevent this by saving all workbooks before using the Quit method or by setting the DisplayAlerts property to False. When this property is False, Microsoft Excel doesn’t display the dialog box when you quit with unsaved workbooks; it quits without saving them. This will avoid any (possibly hidden) prompts from stopping excel from closing completely

Cygwin "error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1"
I just had this problem, The answer was here https://github.com/matplotlib/matplotlib/issues/2463 "There is a variable called "_C" defined in lib/matplotlib/tri/_tri.h on line 821 and invoked in tri.cpp on lines 2180 and 2186. For some reason gcc doesn't like this (is it a reserved word in some architecture?). I just renamed the variable to "_Co" in both tri.h and tri.cpp, and the compilation finished successfully."

Xcode - Linker command failed with exit code
From what I've read there are many different reasons for this problem and therefore many different solutions but maybe someone will have done the same stupid thing as me and this will help them. I am fairly certain this is not the problem the OP experienced though as my duplicate symbols were in differently named .o files. Basically be very careful with autocorrect when typing your #import statements. I accidentally imported the .m file instead of the proper .h file and ended up with output similar to what the OP has posted. Hope this helps somebody!

clang: error: linker command failed with exit code 1 (use -v to see invocation)
Well, since you are using Xcode 5, Apple says on the member center: "Xcode 5 Developer Preview cannot be used to submit apps to the iOS or Mac App Store. Continue to use the publicly released version of Xcode to compile and submit apps to the App Stores." But I will show some suggestions anyway: With Xcode, click on your project's icon on the left, select the tab Build Phases > Compile Sources and click on the "+" to check if there is some file .m to be imported. Check if you imported all the frameworks you are using to your project. Go to Build Settings and look for Architectures and set armv7 instead of armv6 and armv7s. I hope this helps.

I don't want to drag the comments section as its already reached the limit..I suspect the way you're importing the third party framework such as OCMock is wrong... No duplicate files: Linker command failed with exit code 1 (use -v to see invocation)
In a comment you wrote: "main.m imports Pea.h Pea.h imports Plant.m, ...". There is the problem. "Pea.h" must import "Plant.h", not "Plant.m". Otherwise the Plant class in "Plant.m" is compiled in all source files that import "Pea.h", for example in "main.m", leading to the duplicate definition errors.

How can I detect the first instance of a command-line Dart program to start?
Detecting if a instance of a program is the first instant is often done using a mutex. But Dart don't have any syncronisation methods build in. An alternative approach would be using a network port on the loopback interface. Choose a fixed port, if a instance is started, check if you can listen on the port. If the port is not available, another instance is already running. As a positive side effect you can use the connection to communicate between the instances of your application.
