Design images, buttons, text, etc to fit all screen sizes for android tablet in landscape mode
You need to make the images for only one size (or for one device). Lets say you are working on a tablet with screen size 640x960. You can then make a layer of size 640x960 and add the images to that layer. Once you have your layer with all the images you want on it, you must then scale that layer up or down depending on the device screen. So if you made an image for a device with screen pixels: 640 x 960, and you test it on a different device with screen size 400 x 800, you would then scale the layer that contains your images like so: layer->setScaleX(640/400); layer->setScaleY(960/800); And the layer will stretch inwards to fit the smaller screen.

Android Tablet only app not displayed in Android Tablet after uploading in Google Play
When I found your app in Google Play, and clicked on Permissions, it showed "Phone calls: directly call phone numbers". Does your manifest specify "requires phone"? Many tablets have no phone. You probably want your manifest to say <uses-feature android:name="android.hardware.telephony" android:required="false" />

Force video to play in Landscape mode in android app using phonegap
you can't change that in phonegap. you can set it in AndroidManifest.xml, just add android:screenOrientation="landscape" to your <activity> But then, whole application will be set to landscape.

Android : Force rendering in landscape, largest mode, lock the aspect ratio so everything fits the screen
To force it to landscape, in your manifest add android:screenOrientation="landscape" to the activity. That will prevent the activity from ever going portrait. I wouldn't suggest disabling scrolling- what if your app doesn't fit on a smaller screen device? How will they see your content? You could shrink the display ratio, but that hurts people with vision problems (or even normal people if it becomes small enough). I'm only in my 30s and I zoom in on most websites to read the text more easily.

How can I force IE9/10 to use IE8 for BOTH document mode and browser mode?
Controlling the browser mode isn't possible from the site itself. The Browser Mode setting is controlled by the Compatibility View list (clientside) only. The Document Mode setting is controlled by the browser mode and/or the X-UA-Compatible header.

Avoiding dismissal of dialog when the tablet display goes in sleep mode
Based on your screenshot, I assume that you have force your application to be in portrait mode, right? If so, then when your application is in portrait mode and you turn off/lock the screen and then if you turn on the screen, the locker is in landscape right? That means your last activity have to be recreated. So If your app is locked to portrait mode, you can add in the manifest android:configChanges="orientation|screenSize" That means you will handle this config changes by yourself. This is basically a bad practise if you use it as a workaround as a "solution" config changes if you dont know what are you doing (see more at Why not use always android:configChanges="keyboardHidden|orientation"?). But if you force your app to be in Portrait, then it is ok.

intel kernel builder, failed to create context for intel opencl cpu device
According to this Site, Intels OpenCL SDK does not support Core2 Duo/Quad CPUs (because they do not support SSe 4.2): http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intel-sdk-for-opencl-applications-2013-release-notes#_System_Requirements_1 So the compiler cannot create the context for this device. You may be able to work around this by explicitly choosing the target architecture in the Option Dialog. I'm not sure this will work and the code will certainly not run. If you want to use OpenCL on you machine, try the AMD APP SDK, which supports every x86 with at least SSE2: http://developer.amd.com/tools/heterogeneous-computing/amd-accelerated-parallel-processing-app-sdk/ That, however, will not work with Intel's KernelBuilder.

Force portrait mode
Based on my understanding of the question I assume that you want the 2nd view controller to be portrait and the first view controller to be landscape. For the second viewcontroller, add this method: - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait); } For the first view controller: - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscape); }

How to force compatibility mode for all versions of IE?
Compatibily mode is meant to help users with old products that are not up-to-date. In no way it should help the developper to avoid the issues he may find. Unless you absolutely have no choice (for example a broken dependency like SharePoint...) or want to expose a serious lack of competence, you should not force a user to see your page in compatibility mode. If you need to support all IE versions, you must understand how each version works and be aware of each differences in order to make a code that can result in the same output no matter the version. If the idea of mastering "crappy versions" (for example IE6 and older) sounds really bad to you, I would advise you to establish a threshold to concentrate on the compatibility with some old versions, rather than all of them. EDIT: Bu

How to force UIImagePickerController to take images in Landscape mode only....?
I created two different overlays with two separate methods, calling whichever matched up to the orientation. - (IBAction)takePicture:(id)sender { [[UIDevice currentDevice]beginGeneratingDeviceOrientationNotifications]; if (UIDeviceOrientationIsPortrait([UIDevice currentDevice].orientation)) { [self portraitDisplayOverlay]; }else{ [self startCameraControllerFromViewController:self usingDelegate:self]; } } On the portrait overlay I set the UIImagePickerController property to hide camera controls picker.showCameraControls = NO; This overlay simply instructed the user to use Landscape mode, when it tilts to landscape call the proper overlay and voila. Hope this helps, Jim.

How can I force IE10/9 into both Compatibility View and IE8 Document Mode?
I had a similar problem. I used <!DOCTYPE html> in the starting of the document and used <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=8" > after the <head>. Then i cleared the cache of the browser, reopen the internet explorer and it is working fine.

Actually you restricted particularly an Activity to be in a portrait mode, it will be apply only your SplashScreenActivity. For other Activity it will remain as default. If you want this for other activity also you have to write android:screenOrientation="portrait" in all activity, Try This android:screenOrientation="portrait" android:configChanges="orientation"

Android App for Tablet
Android is generally case-sensitive. Do not invent your own rules for case. Similarly, do not invent your own rules for what attributes are available on what elements. Specifically (with links to the related documentation): <uses-permission> does not support android:required All <uses-feature> names are lowercase Hence, I would imagine that tablets sans telephony will not support your app because you are trying to control android.hardware.TELEPHONY, not android.hardware.telephony.

Android AVD 2.3.3 w/ Google APIs on Intel Vs ARM
The use of the Intel x86 emulator images is covered in the documentation. Can I do so on all dev systems? (e.g. Linux, OSX, ...) The system requirements for the use of the Intel x86 emulator images is covered in the documentation. While all Android SDK development platforms are supported, not all CPUs are, and the "step-by-step" instructions vary by OS. UPDATE My apologies regarding the Google APIs. There is no support for Google APIs on all the x86 variants, as Intel has not prepared them. At this point, it is exceedingly unlikely that there will ever be an x86 image with Google API support.

Android 7 inch tablet 480x800
If your device is API 13 or higher, you can use the layout-sw<???>dp qualifier. For a 7 inch tablet, layout-sw600dp is the correct qualifier. Your specific tab with resolution 480 x 800 should come under this category with ldpi density. Conversion of px to dp: dp = px / (dpi / 160). Here px is 480 and dpi is 120. So dp = 480/(120/160) == 600dp As an alternative, you can use layout-large qualifier. Again here you can use layout-large-ldpi which specifically defines your tablet.

Integrate USB POS printer with app from Android tablet
My 2 cents. I did an app that can print from Android(Bluetooth) to a Zebra printer. Bases on our search, it depends more on your printer provider. We couldn't find a "library" that can print to any printer. That's whay we went for Zebra printers, since they support Android. I'm not sure if Epson does provide Android libraries to use with their printers.

What does it mean with bug report captured in android tablet?
It's because you have turned on USB debugging in Developer Options. You can create a bug report by holding the power + both volume up and down. Edit: This is what the forums say: By pressing Volume up + Volume down + power button, you will feel a vibration after a second or so, that's when the bug reporting initiated. To disable: /system/bin/bugmailer.sh must be deleted/renamed. There should be a folder on your SD card called "bug reports". Have a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2252948 And this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1405639

The only way to block the user from using any other aspect of the tablet is to make your app the launcher. By doing so, it will be displayed whenever the tablet is unlocked, and the home button will just take the user to your app. If you don't launch any other app from yours, you will effectively lock the user into your app on the device.

Why videos are not downloading from Url via app in a Android Tablet?
You're performing network activity on the main UI thread. If your tablet is running Android >=v12, it will throw an exception - your emulator probably works because it is < v12. Blocking the main thread is bad, you should instead perform this download in a separate thread. The best option would probably be an IntentService, so that the download isn't tied to your activity. If you block the main thread, the users experience is compromised (app will appear to freeze), and the system will 'Android Not Responding' (ANR) after 10 seconds
