Excel: Display value from list of options if numbers begin with value from options
VLOOKUP() I believe is the right function for this. Assuming that you want the area names in column E in Sheet1 as from row 2, the phone numbers are in columnB of that same sheet and the table with prefix and area code in Sheet2 columns A and B, you can use: =VLOOKUP(LEFT(B2,5), Sheet2!A:B, 2, FALSE) LEFT(B2,5) extracts the first 5 characters from the phone number stored in B2. If there are area codes of different lengths, then the formula will have to be revised and it will be much more complex. Sheet2!A:B is the table to lookup the data 2 is the index of the column containing the values you want to get (the first index is the column containing the area codes) FALSE means exact match. I don't think you'd like to get the area code immediately smaller than the one you're looking for,

How can I use VBA to add a Connection (to an External Data Source) in Excel and Save it to that Excel spreadsheet's list of Connections
You can use a macro recorder to generate a VBA code that will add a connection to your excel instance. I have added the code at the end of this answer, however you can generate your own if you follow the below steps: 1) Start a macro recorder 2) On the ribbon, click on Data tab. Click on the Connections and then choose the Add button like shown in the below screenshot 3) On the next screen, choose your existing DB connection, and follow the steps on the next 2 or 3 screens to configure your connection. 4) Once your connection is established and appears in the connections list, click on the Properties button and on the next screen Export Connection File 5) Stop your macro recorder and open VBE (alt+F11) and edit the code in your Module1 6) Remove these lines from your macro code .Serv

Array formula in excel suddenly not working... troubleshooting
Your second formula is, itself, returning an array. You are only viewing the top left element in that return array - which happens to be FALSE. Your first formula returns a scalar value; that is the difference. If you want to sum the '1' values then your second formula could be amended to {=SUM(IF('Data Input'!$L$3:$L$15000=$B10,1,0))} which is also a scalar return.

Zend framework - connection to postgresql
localhost on your machine is (most likely) resolving to the IPv6 address of localhost (::1), but since the protocol/module used does not support IPv6 connections, your connection fails. You could either; Use 127.0.0.1 as a host instead, that will force a connection to the IPv4 localhost. Remove the host line completely, that will force a connection via UNIX sockets.

JRuby / basic PostgreSQL connection
The docs suggest something along the lines of: # connection setup ActiveRecord::Base.establish_connection( :adapter => 'jdbc', :driver => 'org.postgresql.Driver', :url => 'jdbc:postgresql:sample_db;create=true' ) Or ActiveRecord::Base.establish_connection( adapter: 'postgresql', database: 'db/my-database' ) This is assuming you're using JDBC and the appropriate configuration. For this, I suggest taking a look at Postgres' documentation. Sample provided over there is written in Java: String url = "jdbc:postgresql://localhost/test"; Properties props = new Properties(); props.setProperty("user","fred"); props.setProperty("password","secret"); props.setProperty("ssl","true"); Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url, props); String url = "jdbc:postgresql://

How to properly handle connection persistent things within node-mysql connection pooling
All transactions will happen in the context of a single connection. After you end or terminate the connection, you can no longer operate on that transaction. The general pattern is to open, query, close and unless you have a long running transaction, you won't have any problems of queries or variables bleeding over into other connections. In the event of a long running transaction, you will have to manage that connection object to make sure it exists and is only used by code that operates within that transaction.

Heroku and NodeJs - MySql Connection lost: The server closed the connection
You already seem to know what is happening; the MySQL server is closing the connection. Many database services, including ClearDB, to do this (ie, close inactive connections). You're going to have to detect the disconnect event, and recreate the connection. There are instructions in the node-mysql documentation for doing this.

Does the PG Ruby Gem use pgpass when setting up PostgreSQL connection?
Yes, it will use ~/.pgpass just like any interface based on libpq, the C PostgreSQL client library. However, a good alternative for not having the password in a file is to have it in the PGPASSWORD environment variable. If you set this in a script, it will be inherited by every program it calls. PGPASSWORD when set will be used as the password for any libpq connection, which means the majority of programs that connect to PostgreSQL.

Any way to use >1 Core in PostgreSQL for a single Connection/Query?
PostgreSQL does not currently support executing a single query across multiple CPU cores (minus background things like background writing and wal writing if you're doing a write query, but that doesn't really count). It's work that's in progress, but it's a long-term project, and is not in any current version of PostgreSQL. This is the same on all platforms and architectures. It is definitely an issue, but since PostgreSQL is, as you say, focused on multi user scenarios, it's not bubbled to the top of the priority queue until recently. But there are definitely people realizing it's an issue, and working on solving it for future versions, it's just not done yet.

Postgresql - Run trigger with variable supplied by connection
I managed to solve this issue using temporary tables. What I ended up doing is the following. Note that this was written using python and psycopg2. First, I set up my python code to use the with construct to obtain a database cursor from the psycopg2 connection pool. This has the added benefit of automatically returning the connection to the pool, regardless of how the code block exits. I then modified the class used in the with construct to create a temporary table containing whatever data I deem useful, specifically the username, before returning the cursor. This table is created with the ON COMMIT DROP option so I know that when I return the connection to the pool the table will be dropped, preventing any conflict with future usage of the connection. I then wrote my ON UPDATE trigger

No, that is not possible. The possible options are documented here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms130822.aspx http://www.connectionstrings.com/all-sql-server-connection-string-keywords I also advise you to stick to the default options because that is what everyone uses. Connection lost after query runs for few minutes in PostgreSQL
My guess, reading your problem, is that you are hitting out of memory issues. Craig's suggestion to turn off overcommit is a good one. You may also need to reduce work_mem if this is a big query. This may slow down your query but it will free up memory. work_mem is per operation so a query can use many times that setting. Another possibility is you are hitting some sort of bug in a C-language module in PostgreSQL. If this is the case, try updating to the latest version of PostGIS etc.

excel to postgresql using spring
This is a very general question so it's difficult to give a specific answer, you might want to consider the following as guidance though: Design a domain object/model to hold whatever data you are reading from the xls file. Your read method should return a list of this object. Create a Spring manager class to act as your service layer, this might have a method called save which takes a list of objects from step one. Create a data access object which handles the mapping of objects passed through from step two. You might consider using an ORM tool (Hibernate for example) for this step. I hope this points you in the right direction.

Export HTML table to Excel - options?
You could try using SQL Reporting Services. It's a bit heavy, but you could create the HTML tables as a report. Using Reporting Services you could then render out the report as an Excel document (or PDF, or an image, etc.). I've found it to be the easiest way to get a consistent output into documents like that. I've not tried calling Reporting Services from PHP, but I'm sure it can be done. There's a blog article by Brian Swan of MS that explains it - http://blogs.msdn.com/b/brian_swan/archive/2010/09/23/rendering-sql-server-reports-as-excel-documents-with-php.aspx I've not tried it myself though, so I can't vouch for it, but may be helpful for a starting point.

How to prevent mysql connection using hibernate from mysql wait_timeout?
