Is there any way to Edit row of bound fields in gridview with custom edit button?
Everything is possible ;-) But you have to decide how you want the edit to be done. If you're not using the built in functionality to enable editing of the field contents, you need some other kind of editing. One option would be to use a separate details view beneath/besides the table that can be edited. Place the detail view in an update panel to avoid reloading the entire page. You would also need to place the grid view in an update panel to be able to reload it's content smoothly once the edited changes are saved.

WP8 how to open selected item directly into edit view
You could make a Grid/StackPanel with the editable fields in your page below your ListBox and set it's Visibility to Collapsed. Once an item gets selected, you can populate the fields; set the Visibility of the ListBox to Collapsed then set the Visibility of the Grid that is holding the editable fields to Visibile.

PHP edit row from gridview
Your right a lot of code and I am note sure I absorbed it all, but did you create a div with an id of myEditModal? I cannot see one. Also there are 2 .load functions in jQuery and the one called depends upon the parameters you give the function call. I think you may have the wrong set of parameters for the .load you intended to run.

Can't get edit to work on gridview
You can do it more simpler way. This is not the actual code. Just to help you to achieve what you want to do. ASPX HTML: <asp:Gridview> <columns> <asp:TemplateField> <ItemTemplate> <asp:LinkButton id="abc" runat="server" onclientclick="javascript:myClick();"></asp:linkbutton> </ItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> </columns> </asp:GridView> <asp:Button id="xyx" runat="server" style="display:none" onclick="btn_Click"/> <ajx:modalpopupextender id="ccc" runat="server"></ajx:modalpopupextender> <script> function myClick() { document.getElementById('<%=xyx.ClientID%>').click(); } CS protected void btn_Click() { this.ccc.show() }

How to edit gridview row inside?
If you are using an ObjectDataSource (or SqlDataSource or OleDbDataSource) to databind and use UpdateCommand, DeleteCommand, InsertCommand, then you do not need to explicitly write those three functions for the edit/update operation. You need those functions when you are writing the binding code in code-behind or if you want to do additional work before/after any operation. RowEditing fires when you click "edit" on the GridView. Here you specify what row to open in editmode by writing GridView1.EditIndex = e.NewEditIndex. You can also write code here to do any work that is required before user is put into editmode. For example, you can check for business rules conditions, and cancel the operation if rules are not met. RowUpdating fires when you click "save"/"update" on the GridView. This

How to disable "Edit" button in Gridview?
Convert your Edit CommandField to a TemplateField. In the newly-generated Button, add the following markup: Enabled='<%# IsEditEnabled(Eval("Status")) %>' In your code-behind, create a new method: protected bool IsEditEnabled(string statusValue) { // Here is where you determine the value } Let me know how that works for you.

I have to click twice on the edit button in the gridview
You need to click once to get the focus, then another time to actually perfrorm the edit. A workaround i did for this issue is to handle PreviewLeftMouseButton down in the grid, i test if the element clicked is a row element, then i have it focused and i don't claim the click to be handled.

how can get column value in row edit event of gridview
I suggest you to write your code in RowDataBound event void GridView_RowDataBound(Object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e) { if(e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow) { // Write your code here } } And you can find your Grid's columns as e.Row.FindControl("yourControlID") You can see detail in MSDN reference 1 MSDN reference 2 CodeProject

get value into query from edit mode in gridview
Your gridview is missing DataKeyNames. It may look like: <asp:GridView ID="gvSummary" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False" DataKeyNames="AnnoNum, MyOtherKey1, MyOtherKey2" ... ... ... DataKeyNames property is an array of strings. You can find more in MSDN

How does Gridview.EditIndex = 1 work to edit all rows?
When you want to put your GridView in Edit mode programmatically,set the EditIndex property to the appropriate row. protected void Button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { GridView1.EditIndex = 1; } NOTE: 1.) In case you are binding gridview from markup, using DataSourceControls such as SqlDataSource, No Need to call the GridView.Bind(). 2.) If you are binding GridView at runtime using the DataSource property, you should rebind your gridView. In your Question: surprisingly, its just changing row mode, where edit button is pressed., since you are clicking the Edit button, handle the OnRowEditing event and set the NewEditIndex property, if you want some other row to be in edit mode:: <asp:GridView ID="CustomersGrIdView" OnRowEditing="CustomersGridView_Editing"

GridView Edit Button Requires 2 Clicks
I think you need to call DataBind to rebind the data source. You've commented it out, but it looks like you had it in a IsPostBack block, which would only execute on the initial page load. Try: Protected Sub EditRow(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As GridViewEditEventArgs) GridView1.EditIndex = e.NewEditIndex GridView1.DataSource = SqlDataSource1 GridView1.DataBind() End Sub

Set row height of gridview in webform when in edit mode
In the GridView_RowDataBound you can check the row being edited and set it's height: protected void GridView1_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e) { if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow && e.Row.RowIndex == GridView1.EditIndex) { e.Row.Height = 340; } } Assuming that you have something like this in RowEditing: protected void GridView1_RowEditing(object sender, GridViewEditEventArgs e) { GridView1.EditIndex = e.NewEditIndex; BindGridView(); }

Gridview Edit - Redirect to Update Form
It's actually better to use select and here's why: Protected Sub MyGridView_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles MyGridView.SelectedIndexChanged Dim formid As String = gvRequisitonLines.DataKeys(gvRequisitonLines.SelectedRow).Value.ToString() Reponse.Redirect("~/FormPage.aspx?formid=" & formid) End Sub This allows you to get the selected index extremely easily and use it to get the DataKey which you can send as a QueryString parameter to your form page. Of course this requires that you have your form identifier set as a datakey on the GridView. So for clarity, your button would have the text "Edit" but the command "Select".

GridView dissapears when clicking on Edit-Button
You need to store the datasource in session in the button click: protected void btnload_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { openConnection(getconstring()); gridtable.AutoGenerateColumns = false; gridtable.AutoGenerateEditButton = true; datasource = new SqlDataSource(getconstring(), "SELECT * FROM T_Employees"); Session["datasource "] = datasource BindData(); } Then change your bind to this: public void BindData() { try { gridtable.DataSource = Session["datasource "] ; gridtable.DataBind(); } catch (Exception e) { //Do something } } You also need to add this to the web.config: <system.web> &

How do I set dropdownlist selectedvalue in edit mode but not in gridview?
You have to use TemplateField and within that template you can specify your layout, which could contain multiple fields, and use different controls for Edit/Insert operations, like in the following sample: Listing 1. <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Toll-Free: Area/Phone #"> <ItemTemplate> ( <%# DataBinder.Eval( Container.DataItem, "A_TollFree_AreaCode" )%> ) <%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "A_TollFree_Number")%> </ItemTemplate> <EditItemTemplate> <asp:TextBox ID="txtAreaCode" runat="server" CssClass="phoneAreaCode" MaxLength="3" Text='<%# Bin

Set selected value or text for DropDownList in edit mode of gridview asp.net
I mean when I put my grid view in Edit mode, I don't want my Dropdownlist show "--Select Zone Name--". I want it show "text 1",2,3 or 4...which is displaying in my Label in View mode. And you can do this in Gridview_RowEditing event. See the code below: protected void Gridview_RowEditing(object sender, GridViewEditEventArgs e) { Label lbDisplayName = (Label)Gridview.Rows[e.NewEditIndex].FindControl("lbDisplayName"); string name = lbDisplayName.Text; GridViewRow gvr = Gridview.Rows[e.NewEditIndex]; var dr = (DropDownList)gvr.FindControl("ddlName"); dr.SelectedItem.Text = name; }

Edit Item Template TextBox value in a Gridview Confusion
I'm guessing that your grid has the paging enabled. So your are getting the index of the row that is displaying in the grid (not the data source). For example: You're in the 2 page of your grid, and you have 10 items per page. You click on edit on the 3rd row. The e.RowIndex will be 2. If you want to map it to you datasource, this should be... ((page - 1) * items) + index; ((2-1) * 10) + 2 = 12 So in your datasource you should get the item that is on the position 12.

Update specific cell in gridview using an edit button?
You have to use asp:TemplateField for TaskName , DueDate and button. Then on Rowcommand event u can use findcontrol property to change the value. Also look at this link : http://forums.asp.net/t/1528797.aspx/1 On Rowcommad event You can use below code. if (e.CommandName == "Edit") { int index = Convert.ToInt32(e.CommandArgument); GridViewRow row = gviewRetailers.Rows[index]; string CheckListId = row.Cells[0].Text; string sql="update tblname set TaskName ="u want" ,DueDate ="U wnat" where id = CheckListId "; // for example only use can use your update query // Update value and Bind grid again } Thanks, Hitesh

bring edit and delete buttons in gridview in one column
You have defined two ItemTemplates, but only the last one is being picked up by the ASP.NET engine. Here is the correct way to declare this: <ItemTemplate> <asp:LinkButton ID="LBEdit" runat="server" CausesValidation="False" CommandName="Edit" Text="Edit"></asp:LinkButton> <asp:LinkButton ID="LinkButton4" runat="server" CausesValidation="False" CommandArgument='<%# Bind("SrNo") %>' CommandName="Delete" Text="Delete"></asp:LinkButton> </ItemTemplate>

How do I use a DropDownList in a Gridview Edit Template when the selected value does not mirror sql data?
You don't need to do this in code; the ListItem has both a Text and a Value property: <asp:DropDownList ID="ddlDay" runat="server" SelectedValue='<%# Bind("Day") %>'> <asp:ListItem Value="1" Text="Monday" /> <asp:ListItem Value="2" Text="Tuesday" /> <asp:ListItem Value="3" Text="Wednesday" /> <asp:ListItem Value="4" Text="Thursday" /> <asp:ListItem Value="5" Text="Friday" /> <asp:ListItem Value="6" Text="Saturday" /> <asp:ListItem Value="7" Text="Sunday" /> </asp:DropDownList> The SelectedValue will return the day number, and the list will display the day name.

Can I query database directly from view in codeigniter?
Ideally view is not right place to do this. Firstly all data must be processed between controller/model and should be passed to view. If case you have a scenario where you want to get data from view after rendering, you should make an ajax call from view to controller and then ask controller to get data from model(data layer). And respond with data from controller to view and reflect html changes in view depending upon the data received if any changes required. This is how an MVC architecture should be.

Connecting directly to remote MySQL database in iOS
You need to create a web service that will expose a set of APIs that are then use by your iPhone app to push/pull data. You may then choose to cache the data locally (on the iPhone) in a sqlite3 database. The most common data transfer formats are JSON and XML.

Should an API consume itself or call the database directly for other resources?
Well, the good news is it's behind the scenes, so you can change your implementation later on if you make a mistake. I would definitely go with #2 also. Trying to get rid of database calls before you know if you have a performance problem is too much like premature optimization to me. It depends on how often the relevant calls get made and how performant you need your system to be. Passing oauth tokens around could be annoying, but it seems less of a bug risk than maintaining a resource in multiple places.

Loading values into text area from database and then edit/update database with new values in PHP?
It looks like you have some problems in your markup. I think the output in your while-loop should look more like this: echo ' <div> <label>Question</label> <textarea name="faq['. $val .'][q]" rows="8" cols="50"></textarea> <br /> <label>Answer</label> <textarea name="faq['. $val .'][a]" rows="4" cols="50"></textarea> </div> '; Then in faqsql.php, your code will look more like this: foreach ($_POST['faq'] as $id=>$faq) { $id = mysqli_real_escape_string($id); $question = mysqli_real_escape_string($faq['q']); $answer = mysqli_real_escape_string($faq['a']); $query = " INSERT INTO FAQ (id, question, answer) VALUES ('$id', '$question', '$answer')

How to directly insert images and other type of files into SQLITE database as like in mysql and sql by using query?
You should use a BLOB type, which allows you to store raw binary data. I don't know which is the maximum allowed size, though. I would create a table like the following: CREATE TABLE `test`.`pic` ( `idpic` INTEGER UNSIGNED NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `caption` VARCHAR(45) NOT NULL, `img` BLOB NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY(`idpic`) ); Then just read the image using standard I/O and write the data to the img column, just as you would with a file.
