How can I make a video file available for download?
HTML5 adds the download attribute, which you have there in your example, but is empty. Add a value to the download attribute and hey presto. ie change download to download="624x260.webm" in your a tag. http://updates.html5rocks.com/2011/08/Downloading-resources-in-HTML5-a-download For non-HTML5 compliant browsers, the most straightforward way would be to accompany the links with a direction to 'right click to download'. This would cover the majority of cases and browsers. An overview of a couple of techniques here, I realise you can't zip the files. http://webdesign.about.com/od/beginningtutorials/ht/download_link.htm There are multitude more involved ways to do this, including modifying the web server config, but not everyone has the access / know-how to do that.

Download part of a video file through a servlet
There are 3 dominant HTTP streaming techologies: Apple HTTP Live Streaming, Microsoft Smooth Streaming, and Adobe HTTP Dynamic Streaming. Each of these technologies provides tools to convert video to corresponding format. If you start with one large video file, the Apple and Adobe tools would create a number of small files containing, say, 10 sec of video each, and a playlist file that would give the client a clue how to read them. I believe Microsoft tools actually can generate a single file, but it would contain small video fragments internally. With the HTTP streaming, the "intelligence" lives in the client that knows how to read the master playlist file and how to get around either numerous media files or numerous media file fragments. The HTTP server only have to serve a file or a fi

Download YouTube video in server
I've found out a solution to store the YouTube file to server. Android how to download video using playlist id from rss feed
It's not that simple. I have studied the CBS RSS link and it's not designed to allow direct downloading of video. It's designed to provide a link that a user can follow and land on the website where they can view the video on a web page. It is still theoretically possible to download the video automatically, but not at all straightforward. A program would have to resolve the link, download the HTML, parse the HTML and extract intelligence about the video file from the embedded values surrounding the Flash-based video player found in the page. Then, assuming the data could be downloaded via raw HTTP, figure out the direct video URL and download the video. Anything is possible; just depends on how much effort you care to exert.

Video download/stream using Java servlet
The servlet which you found is indeed insuitable for the purpose of streaming a video file. It's more intented as a simple file download servlet for static files like PDF, XLS, etc. A lot of video players require that the server supports so-called HTTP range requests. I.e. it must be able to return a specific byte range of the video file by a request with a Range header. For example, only the bytes from index 1000 until 2000 on a file of 10000 bytes long. This is mandatory in order to be able to skip a certain range of the video stream quickly enough without the need to download the whole file and/or to improve buffering speed by creating multiple HTTP connections which each requests a different part of the video file. This is however a lot of additional code in the servlet which requir

File download from URL stops when multiple clients try to download it
Your download code looks ok and I do not see any reason for a race condition, so without deeper analysis of your download code, I can tell you that this code (client side) is not the problem. It must be the server side which causes the problem, i.e. your webserver or a proxy or firewall which is in between. Moreover, maybe you should look at JNLP, which is a technology designed exactly for your problem of keeping an application always updated and checking this at startup.

Is multiple download of music/video files possible on Phonegap
You will likely want to look into the FileTransfer function. As this function is run asynchronously (hence the callbacks), you should be completely able to download multiple at a time, and store them on to the device. The simplest form for downloading would be var fileTransfer = new FileTransfer(); var uri = encodeURI("http://some.server.com/somefile"); fileTransfer.download( uri, filePath, function(entry) { console.log("download complete: " + entry.fullPath); }, function(error) { console.log("download error source " + error.source); console.log("download error target " + error.target); console.log("upload error code" + error.code); } );

Automatically download an xml file from URI with download popup
The URI that you are using is probably wrong. You are using the URI that opens the popup page. The popup page should be doing another GET to the dynamically generated file. To automate this process, you should use a WebRequest to get the contents of the popup page. Scrape the contents of the page to get the actual URL to download the file. Then use the code you have written to download the file. var request = WebRequest.Create("PopupUrl"); var response = request.GetResponse(); string url = GetUrlFromResponseByRegExOrXMLParsing(); var client = new WebClient(); webClient.DownloadFile(url, filePath);

How to avoid to download the video or image from server once we have seen(Like it should store in cache memory)?
First you should download the video or image in an asynctask inner class, this is why the app freezes while downloading. You are downloading on the UI thread and this freezes your app, AsyncTask is the way to go. Second when download is complete you could save the video, image to sdcard so you won't have to download them again next time. When you want to view the video the second time you will only have to know the file name so you could grab it from sd card. You could make a method that determines if a video on sd card is considered outdated and delete that file if true. Also as other comments say, AQuery ( Android Query) is a library (facilitates chaining like jQuery does for javascript) that offers a lot of convenience methods for file downloading and other cool stuff. How can I get the correct url to the video file from an embedded video?
As you may know that different website have different video downloading strategies, some might give a real url in html file for directly download, others may just return video stream while click button or touch screen. while so many different strategies on video download its really hard for you to find a universal way to fetch a real url to start a download task. But here I have an idea, not so smart, it can be very dumb: 1.play a video in the background(to let browser download that video in browser cache). 2.find that cache file and extract video file which you want. for myself, I usually have some videos that I want but can not be downloaded straightly, thus I will use IE to play that video and find that video in IE temporary folder. wish I could help you!

pgql/Hibernate File up/download - download size twice file size?
It looks like your library for connecting to PostgreSQL does not know how to decode the hex format for bytea. You could try changing your PostgreSQL setting for bytea_output to 'escape'. (If that works, it suggests your library is rather out of date.) I had the same problem with Perl's DBD::Pg, only to discover that I was using a much older version than I thought I was, and after updating it then it automatically did the correct thing regardless of bytea_output setting.

Java download to target (target can't be found) and 0 byte file download
You are using the transferFrom() method as a one-liner. However, I think you should check whether more data is available. From the API: An attempt is made to read up to count bytes from the source channel and write them to this channel's file starting at the given position. An invocation of this method may or may not transfer all of the requested bytes; whether or not it does so depends upon the natures and states of the channels. Fewer than the requested number of bytes will be transferred if the source channel has fewer than count bytes remaining, or if the source channel is non-blocking and has fewer than count bytes immediately available in its input buffer. A similar question was also posted that may help you.

video set to "true" in Skype video chat URI, but video is not enabled when call starts
I see you've figured out that there seems to be a problem with video call in the newest versions of Skype for android and ios. Maybe the new apps treat video calls as a conference call even if it's a 1 to 1 call (which isn't supported as stated in the skype api/uri doc), I suggest you report this problem to MS through for example appstore (not sure if there's similar possibility to do so in google play?) and mention the same bug happens on android. If you need something to work ASAP while waiting for MS to fix the bug I'll suggest a solution but it might not be worth the time you'll need to spend in order for a working implementation. But I'll leave that up to you to consider. What you could do is send an message (or just do a regular call) to the remote sentry with an unique message ie

IE10 not playing a video when using the
When you paste the URL to your browser it doesn't use HTML5 player anymore, so it doesn't say that it is really a supported file; only that the file path should be valid. According to wikipedia, IE10 supports (not only) H.264 for video and AAC for audio - these are very common formats for mp4 container. Chrome's support is much wider (video- and audio-wise). The problem is that the Intro.mp4 file might have different formats altogether (the file could by just renamed or created using unsupported formats). I'd look into the file using properties->details or third party programs (for example Media Info). I don't think it is IE10's issue. The only similar one I've found is when the user was too specific using unsupported format of used codecs ([...] type='video/mp4; codecs="H.264, AAC"'

File Download Gives Error "File if broken" on IOS (works on PC)
I have a PHP script which is downloading file after it is created. My bet is you're using HTML to create the file, and giving it a .doc extension to make it look like a Word document. While this is totally okay and supported by all versions of Word AFAIK, a 3rd party viewer program like on an iPad may be more strict. A HTML based file is technically not a Word document, and the viewer may not be equipped to parse it accordingly. You may need to resort to generating a real .doc file.
