Connecting and creating an android application to retrieve data from MSSQL
Use a Spinner to show your main entries and a ListView to show the columns Add a OnItemSelectedListener for this spinner. In this listener, make the JDBC call as a background task preferably using AsyncTask. After getting the response, populate the listview . You may need to implement a custom adapter which takes the ResultSet and parse it to feed it to your listview.

Securing a PHP webservice for application access only
You can distribute your C# application with a certificate bundled and sign your requests with the certificate. The server can then verify if the request was signed by your application and reject any other request. Edit: Whoops, I only now understood that you want to secure you application even when in the hands of a malicious user. This, I don't think is possible. A hacker can decompile, scan the memory, read and decode files, etc and your certificate will be available in there if you distribute it with the application. An alternative would be to distribute an external security token (hardware device or flash storage) which will need to be plugged-in to the client computer. The token holds the certificate, keys or cyphers used to sign/encrypt your requests and it therefore doesn't stay wi

Connecting my IOS App to an existing PHP application
Using PHP in cooperation with JSON makes it very easy to communicate between PHP and iOS. On the server, arrays can be formatted to JSON as follows: Server Example <?php $response = cydia_check("eswick", $_GET['package'], $_GET['version'], $_GET['udid'], $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'], "local", $apikey);//Example function, returns an array. (In this case, checks an activation server to verify if the app was really purchased.) print json_encode($response);//Prints JSON encoding of array to stdout. ?> As of iOS 5, thanks to Twitter, Foundation includes a class that makes it simple to parse JSON. Here is some example code that calls and parses the PHP function above: Client Example #define PACKAGE "com.eswick.drmtest" #define VERSION "0.8" NSString *requestAddress = [NSString stringWi

JAVA - Tomcat 5 Application connecting to Web Service using HTTPS, while Tomcat 7 Application does not
It would seem that the root cause of this problem is that when you are running the newer version (tc7, jdk1.7) you application is unable to find the certificate store. Are you specifying where the certificates are stored in you java code? Or anywhere else for that matter? If so you may be doing it in a Java1.4 way that has been updated in later versions. The default certificate store for java is {$JAVA_HOME}/lib/security/cacerts If your certificate is not being stored here, then this may be your problem. This store is per java version so this would explain why the older version is working while the new version is not. (This is covered in the post linked to by Michael) If this doesn't fix the problem, then it would be useful if you could post some more information about how you are con

You have implemented the service correctly. You can confirm this by running GetCitiesByCountry (it will return a list of cities). It is just that the method GetForecastByCity does not currently work. Try any of these APIs instead.

How to open an specific application in PC when connecting a USB?
I don't understand why you tagged the question with ASP.NET. ASP.NET is a server-side technology, and ASP.NET applications are "started" by IIS in response to an HTTP request (typically from a browser). What you're looking for is to detect a USB device insertion event, and for that you need an application that runs on the client (and have certain permissions). Here's a thread that would get you started.

Connecting existing asp.net application to azure sql server vm without SDK
You mentioned not knowing anything about Azure, so checking out the tutorials at www.windowsazure.com is a great place to start, especially if you're attempting to launch a production application into an environment you know little about. Having said that: If your SQL Server is running in a VM, and that VM is part of a different deployment from your asp.net app (e.g. you used something like a web role, or Azure Web Sites), than you can not use your SQL Server's internal IP address, since you'd have no access to that IP address (each deployment lives in its own private network). Your options would be: If you deployed your website to Azure Web Sites, you'd reach your SQL Server VM through its public endpoint (you'd need to create that endpoint, called an input endpoint, with port 1433 ope

Connecting Your Own Device On Eclipse safely to run Application
It is perfectly safe to test the app (game) on your phone. Eclipse is not actually running on your device. What it does is it sends an install package to your phone that installs your app in much the same manner as if it was installed from anywhere else in normal way. What Eclipse does in addition is that it is sniffing on some log messages that is written by the apps. This is perfectly safe. Since you have already installed Samsung Kies on your computer, you will have the necessary drivers installed. All you need to do is to open your project in Eclipse, and then run as Android Application. Then you are prompted to run on a device, you select your phone from the list of running devices. When you click OK on this, your app will be sent to your phone as an .apk file, and then installed

COM+ VB6 Application on 64 bit system: IBM CLI Driver transaction error when connecting to DB2
This similar to a known bug in DB2 - see http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21572529. However, it would appear that the bug was fixed in DB2 9.7 Fixpack 2, and you're on Fixpack 5, so maybe you're running in to a different issue. I would advise opening a PMR with IBM if the referenced document doesn't provide any assistance.

Glassfish, EC2, Swing Application not connecting to @remote interface
You should still be able to add an entry to your hosts file for your eIP - have you tried that? EC2 instances all have a public IP and a private 10.X.X.X address. The eIP replaces the public IP address and is fixed (until you disassociate it). The alternative with AWS, which will allow you to have a fixed private IP too, is to deploy to a VPC. Amazon have some very good documentation on VPCs. What you're getting, in a nutshell, is comparable to a local network, so you can just pick your CIDR block and create subnets, for example 10.0.1.0/24. Now, when you launch an EC2 instance, you can launch into that VPC subnet and choose the private IP. Along with your eIP, you now have both IP addresses (public and private) set permanently, unless you decide to change them yourself (for whatever re

Asp.net Webservice - Secure call the webservice with jquery AJAX
There is no such thing as the best way and the answer is always it depends, though it is very unhelpful. You can use forms authentication for example. If you web application using the web service and the web service are part of the same ASP.NET application, the browser can seamlessly send the forms authentication ticket (cookie) for every call to the web service. In the config file, you can have <authorization> <deny users="?" /> </authorization> This will deny access to anonymous users and that will cover the web services as well. In other words, unless a user logs in and gets a valid cookie with the ticket, service cannot be used. Of course, you must HTTPS. Otherwise, any one in the middle can get the cookie in the headers and call your service. Finally, it

Android Background webservice call
You can use an IntentService and fetch the details and store it. Or You can use a Service, bind it with the activity and send the data when you have retrieved it. Additionally you can navigate to the 2nd activity and call the AsyncTask to fetch the details and update the UI when done. If the data retrieved is global and used by multiple activities then store it in the Application class and add a stateChangeListener and get notified when its updated from a background service or AsyncTask.

Capture All Webservice Calls from Android APP
You should check your android logs first. If the app exposes no info about requests through this, the next best thing would be to decompile the app. If the URL is static, just looking through the data files will get you the address. If it is dynamic, you can modify the dalvik bytecode to have it log to logcat and recompile the apk. If all else fails, you can use tcpdump. You'll need root, and can follow this tutorial to utilize wireshark to visualize it easily.

Connecting Android app to amazon RDS
Does Amazon offer some API/service for Android - RDS connection? No. AWS does not currently have an API for interacting with an RDS instance. Do you know any sample code that handles this aspect? You may want to access your database with PHP and get a JSON response. If your RDS instance is using MySQL then you’re in luck. There is already a lot of documentation on connecting Android to MySQL using PHP. You can get great sample code and instructions on this blog post. Here is a very popular reference for connecting Android and MySQL.
