Qooxdoo: Reuse desktop classes in mobile application
You can use a Class defined for desktop in mobile apps as well but this excludes widgets. qooxdoo has a separate UI Toolkit optimized for mobile which should be used. The widgets for desktop are different and not compatible. Still, you can reuse all your IO and logic classes without a problem.

Xaml desktop application connect to Windows Azure Mobile Services
I don't think the Mobile Service Client SDK is for building classic desktop applications. They're for building Windows Store Apps. I would actually recommend that you use Storage Client Library. Since you mentioned that you would like to use this library to save files in blob storage, I would recommend using Storage Client library instead. In order to upload files in blob storage, even mobile service SDK/client library is also using the same thing. Storage client library gets installed with Windows Azure SDK and you could also get the same through Nuget as well.

Using .NET desktop application with DevExpress over Remote Desktop
I'm working with DevExpress .Net controls (and moreover sometimes with their controls source code) since 2007. And it seems I know the possible reasons of visual drawback of these controls under RDP. These reasons are: - Skinning technology (which is bitmap-based) - Double-buffered painting So, let me explain. When the user is connected via a Remote Desktop Connection, all drawing operations performed by control are transferred over the network connection to the RDP client for display. If control draw a line, the "DrawLine" command is sent over the network to the client. If control draw a text, a "DrawText" command is sent (along with the text to draw). But if control draw a bitmap, the entire bitmap needs to be transferred over the network. Thus this can be a main bottleneck when using

Connecting to MySQL through Objective-C (Desktop)
Depending on what you need to do, using a middleman such as PHP may be easier, but you can accomplish directly connecting using sockets. Take a look at this. http://macbug.org/macosxsample/mysql#.Ui9xLT5s25c Also keep in mind your MySQL server must be configured to allow remote connections from your IP address.

How to connect SQL Server in Flex Desktop Application or Flash as3 Application?
The SQLConnection supports SQLLite, which is a local / file based database; not mySQL or SQL Server which are client/server databases. To my knowledge, there is no built in way to connect to a client server database. In theory you could write your own database drivers using socket connections. I would not expect that to be trivial. I recommend you use an application server (Java, ColdFusion, PHP, .NET, etc.. ) that can easily access the database and your Flex based UI.

Magento - Different homepage for mobile vs. desktop
If you plan on designing 2 separate sites (1 for mobile and 1 for desktop), then you may want to just create a separate store view. This will allow you to have a different configuration for each store (meaning you can choose a different design package and theme for your mobile store view). This means that you can have different templates for each store and anytime you create a CMS page or static block, you can specify which store view it applies to, or apply it globally.

Assuming that the two sites are under the same domain ( eg www.site.com and mobile.site.com ), you can have cookies that are available for both, by specifying their domain with a leading period ( ie .site.com ). That way you can access the cookies from both sites, and if your cookies are the session cookies, you can have a common session as well. For CodeIgniter, you can use the setting : $config['cookie_domain'] = ".site.com";

I crudely solved my problem using my server as a mediator for the cross-domain post requests. So the flow works like this: I get an authentication code using a pop up window. Then the user enters the code and my javascript sends it to my server. Then the server sends a request for access_token and refresh_token to google, and sends it back to the user. Seems to work well for now, and not very complicated.

View TouchDB mobile database in desktop
There are a few options mentioned here: https://github.com/couchbaselabs/TouchDB-iOS/wiki/Tools-for-TouchDB Your best best is probably TouchDB Viewer: "TouchDB Viewer — "Official" GUI app for viewing TouchDB databases. Runs on Mac OS. Can view local database files (including ones in the iOS Simulator) or remote ones given their URL (useful if you enable the listener in your iOS app.)" -- https://github.com/couchbaselabs/TouchDBViewer I'm sure you could get futon talking to TouchDB, but it'd probably involve delving into the futon codebase. EDIT: TouchDB is the legacy 1.0 version of the project now named Couchbase Lite. So, the "TouchDB Viewer" has been converted to support Couchbase Lite databases (which has '.cblite' extension) and also it has been renamed to "CouchbaseLiteViewer -

HTML VS FlASH, lol Html 5 is generally supported by everything BUT it depends on what you want to do exactly... Animations are limited in certain browsers for example windows explorer: Visit my site with Chrome and also windows explorer you will notice a difference of interactivity www.myobject.net The upside to flash is 95% of desktops have flash installed if my memory serves me correctly whilst html features are supported by about 30% of desktops at current.. Mobile phones(smart phones don't really support much flash content at this current time.Adobe air can be installed on portable devices to show your flash content but this is a big ask for such things.. How to set the application icon for a libGDX desktop application?
Take a look into the api (addIcon(...)): Adds a window icon. Icons are tried in the order added, the first one that works is used. Typically three icons should be provided: 128x128 (for Mac), 32x32 (for Windows and Linux), and 16x16 (for Windows). Maybe your icon has the wrong dimensions, so it won't get set. Else it should work! Just to mention you just set the small icon in the left upper edge (if the application is started) with it not the icon you would see at the desktop!

How to create floor plans that work nice with mobile and desktop browsers?
I built a floorplan application that sounds similar to what you're creating. Feel free to look at the source code and create your own fork. Hopefully you can pull some inspiration from it. The code most relevant to SVG manipulation is Map.js, so you may want to start there. One of the map SVGs is stored in mv.svg. Sadly, I can't point you to the live instance this is running on because it's on an internal HR server. Architecture notes walls and room names are stored in an SVG file. generated in Adobe Illustrator, which can import AutoCAD DWG SVG edited by hand to include a JavaScript array of seat coordinates on page load, server-side templating inserts the SVG into the HTML source otherwise, if SVG is loaded using an <object> or <image> tag or CSS background-image, you

Why does mobile safari seem to give different Javascript Date() results from desktop browsers?
As Mentioned in my EDIT above, the problem turned out to be due to local system times differing across devices. I naively assumed it was down to mobile safari since all the desktop devices we have are automatically time synched so they all appeared to work perfectly. The solution was to set the start time globally from within node.js. And calculate an offset versus each slaves system time. Also this method has achieved better synchronisation for all devices since we are also now measuring and offsetting for each devices latency. The result appears perfect and consistent across all browsers/devices. Although obviously my original question was erroneous, I will leave this answer here in case it helps anyone else.

Cache issue / conflict with mobile & desktop themes - Magento Community 1.7
One way to bypass this is to leave the block cache and layouts not cached. These two are probably causing the issue to happen. This won't be that great of a performance hit since Magento is a resource hog anyway. Quoting from "The Definitive Guide To HTML/XHTML 6th Edition": "HTML and XHTML documents can wind up in the strangest places these days, such as on cellular phones. To help the browser figure out the best way to render your documents, include the media attribute within the tag. The value of this attribute is the document’s intended medium, although it doesn’t preclude rendering by other media. The default value is screen (computer display). Other values include tty (text only), tv (television), projection (theaters), handheld (PDAs and cell phones), print (ink on paper), braille (tactile devices), embossed (Braille printers), aural (audio; speech synthesis, for instance), and all (many different types of media). Display different button/download link on website depending on mobile/desktop OS
Check out http://lessframework.com/ on how to work with @media in css. Then what you would check for is not the OS or device, but the width of the window in the browser. If it's a desktop, display div a (with button a) and hide any other. If it's a mobile device (smaller screen resolution), then, hide div a, and display div b (with button b). Example in css: #a {display:block;} #b {display:none;} @media only screen and (min-width: 480px) and (max-width: 767px) { #a {display:none;} #b {display:block;} } Note however, that the div a and div b both have a button in them...
