How do I check whether I've successfully fetched a list of file names from the clipboard?
Try something like this: function GetFileNameFromClipboard(oSL : TStrings) : Boolean; var f: THandle; buffer: array [0..MAX_PATH] of Char; S: string; i, c: UINT; begin Result := False; Clipboard.Open; try f := Clipboard.GetAsHandle(CF_HDROP); if f = 0 then Exit; c := DragQueryFile(f, $FFFFFFFF, nil, 0); if c = 0 then Exit; for i := 0 to c-1 do begin c := DragQueryFile(f, i, buffer, Length(buffer)); if c <> 0 then begin SetString(s, buffer, c); oSL.Add(s); Result := True; end; end; finally Clipboard.Close; end; end;

Meteor: Check how many clients are subscribed to a certain publish function
I now see you are doing straight old node style socket.io programming. I've done similar things in node projects. This is maybe the real question. On the docs for Meteor they don't even use the word socket. Maybe someone else would get into that new question with you, but this question about tracking subscribers is answered by this answer. I think meteor is a new world, and will handle such stuff for you, if you adapt to its way of thinking. For example, make a collection of messages, with a field for chatroom. Each client picks their chatroom, finds those messages.find({chatroom:'box5'}), and displays them. A new message automatically goes to every client that is listening to that chatroom. Let Meteor use sockets for you. Answer to counting clients subscribed to something: Pseu

How to check event Listeners on an element in IE9
The latest PrototypeJS (1.7.1) stores the event observers in an Event Cache So for example a <div> with id 'mydiv' <div id="mydiv"></div> After you create an observer via the observe() or on() methods like this $('mydiv').observe('click',function(){ alert('Click Happened'); }); The click property of the Event cache will be set like below Event.cache[$('mydiv')._prototypeUID].click However this might not be the source of your problem as you said it is working in all other browsers except IE9 - is there a way you can extract some of the code and put it into a JSFiddle and then post the link?

Do I need to create separate applications for windows phone 8 and windows 8 desktop?
You will not be able to create a single assembly which can run on Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8. You may be able to create libraries which you can reference in both projects or share code in other ways. You will need to create separate UI for each platform. (Even if they end up looking the same-although that would probably not be a good idea.) Each platform has different conventions and ways users will expect apps to behave. You should respect these to avoid confusing users. You can use SQLite on both Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8.

Difference in buildable C# applications on Windows 8 vs. Windows Server 2012?
Does this mean there are Windows applications that can't be built on any release of a Windows Server OS? Yes. You can't build Windows Store apps on Windows Server operating systems, due to licensing restrictions. Can someone describe what kinds of programs can be built on Windows 8 and not Windows Server 2012, or vice-versa? Windows Store applications can't be built on Server 2012. Anything can be developed on Windows 8. You can install a virtual machine for Windows 8 on a Windows Server 2012 machine, and develop within the VM, however. This is effectively developing on Windows 8.

What is the best way to have a subscribers feature? Should I store that list of subscriptions/subscribers under the user or the subscribed page?
Many-To-Many relationships are traditionally stored using a Junction Table. Have two columns, both foreign keys, one being the primary key of the user table and the other being the primary key of the page table. Then either have a seperate primary key, or make your primary key a composite of the two foreign keys. You can then join in either direction across the three tables.

My Clipboard.GetText() not working please help... (Windows Phone)
Clipboard.GetText is not available to Windows Phone applications. MSDN states: You cannot get clipboard text from a Windows Phone application, only set it. Calling the GetText method in a Windows Phone application will always cause a SecurityException to occur. Reference I am not aware of any way to read the clipboard data in Windows Phone.

Copy paste from clipboard in c# windows text box in the same format
You could get content from Word or Excel (or any other app) in html format end this would be ideal for email : string data = Clipboard.GetText(TextDataFormat.Html); You will get html string but with some header in front, look at the links below for examples how to handle it : http://blogs.msdn.com/b/jmstall/archive/2007/01/21/html-clipboard.aspx http://theartofdev.wordpress.com/2012/11/11/setting-html-and-plain-text-formatting-to-clipboard/ warning html produced by word is simply horrible so probably there will be problems for some people when viewing such mails with messy html.

How to copy/cut a file (not the contents) to the clipboard in Windows on the command line?
You can try Swiss File Knife (SFK): sfk toclip Copy stdin to clipboard as plain text. type test.txt | sfk toclip Copies the content of ASCII file test.txt into the clipboard. sfk list | sfk toclip Copies a file listing of the current dir into the clipboard. sfk fromclip [-wait] [-clear] Dump plain text content from the clipboard to the terminal. -wait : block until plain text is available. -clear: empty the clipboard after reading it. Deploy Windows applications in Qt Creator
I think that copying the required dlls (one per each module, used plugins and two for MinGW runtime or if you use Visual Studio install the runtime for the used VS version) is simple enough for students that learn how to code. And regarding NSIS (i assume that NISI is a typo - or at least i haven't heard of it) you can use a gui project for it, like this one (i used one once, but i don't remember if that was the one) anyway you can google for some and play and see what you like or... a little nsis scripting can't hurt your students that much ;)

Using Windows Form in Win32 applications
In a Win32 application, you can include a dialog resource that contains controls and layout information for a particular window. Visual Studio includes a graphical dialog resource editor, as do many other Win32 resource editing applications. This will be somewhat similar to what you're used to with the WinForms designer, albeit with a few limitations. Win32 is a much older technology than WinForms and wasn't really designed with RAD (rapid application development) principles in mind. When you create a new Win32 project based on the template in Visual Studio, you already get one dialog resource created for you: the About box. If you double-click on your "ProjectName.rc" file in the Solution Explorer, then expand the "Dialog" resources folder, you'll see it. Double-clicking on it will bring

How often do OpenGL windowing applications check for event updates?
Speaking generally, without getting into specifics for Unix or Windows implementations, callbacks are invoked from a main event loop which looks roughly like this: Loop forever { Get a message from the event queue. Process the message } The stage of "Get a message" will have a very small sleep if it waits for a message to appear in the queue, probably less than a millisecond. The event queue will contain every message relevant to the application, including things like mouse button presses, mouse motion events, keyboard events, and window events like resize and expose. The "Process the message" step will take an event and dispatch it to whatever is relevant for the event. So for example, a mouse click might result in the callback for a Button widget being called. Or if your Ope

Build applications for Windows phone 8 using VS 2010
Yes, you need windows 8. No, it won't work on Visual Studio 2010 - but that also doesn't mean that you need Visual Studio 2012 - you can use Visual Studio Express 2012 for Windows Phone Also keep in mind that the emulator for this uses Hyper-V, so you'll need a machine capable of running in hypervisor mode. Full system requirements are listed on the linked page (x64, win 8 pro, hyper-v, SLAT, etc)

Windows 8 Store applications as enterprise software
The link provided by takemyoxygen already gives a lot of technical details. I'd just like to add a couple of additional notes. Not all versions of Windows 8 have the sideloading license for installing Windows Store apps outside the store: With Windows 8 Enterprise machines joined to a domain you're ready to go. With Windows 8 Pro (domain joined or not) and Windows 8 Enterprise outside a domain you need to buy a special activation key (sold in batches of 100). With Windows 8 there's no way to get a sideloading license. With Windows RT (ARM) you need the activation key. The machine can't be joined to a domain. Once you have a sideloading license, you can install a Windows Store app package: You can manually run the installation script creted by Visual Studio along with the package. Y

Multiple MVC 4 Web Applications in the same Windows 2008 R2 Server
Yes, you can deploy multiple instances of the app to the server. I would measure "safe" and "reliable" as aspects of the deployment process, not where the application is deployed to. I try to keep my production and non-production environments separate, just in case anything goes wrong in testing I know it won't impact production. this separation can be physical (different hardware) or logical (same hardware, different configuration). There are multiple factors to consider when deciding where to host production vs non-production. The main thing to consider is you don't want non-production environments competing for resources with the production application. some other factors to consider are: size the application # of users nature of the app (is the app critical to the success of the

What are the alternatives to Windows security subsystem in .NET winforms applications
Once I worked in a WinForm application which was supposed to run on intranet, each user would log into the application....and this application was using centralized web service to authentication and other CRUD operation....The service was mediator between WinForm app and DB. Anyway I also got curious here....As you said u are about to start development in .Net 4.0 Winform.....I would like to understand why you made this choice over WPF? What reasons u got to favor WinForm in your scenario ?

RAM usage limit for .NET applications on Windows Server 2012?

How to make a windows phone application load faster like default applications?
Windows Phone 7 On Windows Phone 7 it's not possible to make a 3rd party app perform like the built-in apps such as People, Pictures, Calendar, Games, Music+Videos, etc. Those apps are mostly likely written in C++ and are natively compiled, have special permission to run in the background (so they resume instantly), and have full OS/hardware access. 3rd party apps (ie. the apps you and I can write) are compiled against the Silverlight platform which is not as performant as natively compiled C++ code, which is why even a simple app with no splash screen and a single TextBlock will take longer to load than, say, the built-in Games app (and not feature the proper entrance animation). So, all you can do is try and make your app startup as fast as possible, given the circumstances. There ar

How can I control context menus in other (Windows) applications using Java Robot and Swing buttons
Using MouseListener on the buttons instead of ActionListener, then 'consuming' the MouseEvent in the hope that the other application won't register it and hide the context menu. This doesn't currently work for you because consuming events in Java only effects your application, it cannot prevent the events propagation on the native system. JNativeHook 1.2 may have an undocumented method to allow you to do this on windows, although I am not sure if it will actually solve your problem. If you consume a click event on the native system, the jvm probably wont receive the click event on the osk button to send the arrow down events. There would be no way to detect if the java button is being clicked before you would need to consume the native event. In other words, the NativeIn

A very simplistic approach might be: private EventHandler someEvent; private readonly object syncLock = new object(); public event EventHandler SomeEvent { add {
