In VB.Net, when using a CheckBox with a Button appearance, how can you truly center-align the text?
Here is an idea: Make them actual buttons and toggle the text from "Show XYZ" to "Hide XYZ" when the user clicks the button, that way you will actually have proper buttons that will center correctly for you. Alternatively, consider making a ToolStripButton hosted inside of a ToolStipContainer to create a toggle button effect, which could nicely be displayed above the results of the Load button. Align text to center in string C++
I'm going to assume you already know how to pass a string from Lua to C++ and return the result from C++ to Lua, so the only part we need to deal with is producing the centered string. That, however, is pretty easy: std::string center(std::string input, int width = 113) { return std::string((width - input.length()) / 2, ' ') + input; }

Align TextView to vertical center of ImageView despite the text size?
Instead of an ImageView and a TextView, you can use a compound drawable, which is basically a View that will mix both. In this View, you can specify the gravity and where the image will be located : <TextView android:id="@+id/your_id" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:drawableLeft="@drawable/your_image" android:gravity="center" android:text="@string/text" />

wrap text and center align in javascript function by appending & prepending spaces
Aligning text by inserting space characters works ONLY in a very restricted environment: fixed-width horizontal space using a monospace font of a specific, known size. Change any of those parameters (width, font, font-size) and your alignment will be off. Alignment should be accomplished with CSS.

android:gravity="top" doesn't align child view to top, but "center" aligns to center?
gravity attribute applies to widgets within the LinearLayout, while layout_gravity tells the parent of LinearLayout where to place the child (LinearLayout). Also, in a vertical LinearLayout the gravity="top" attribute won't work. In the layout you have now, both text views will be stacked one on top of the other, wrapped with a linear layout with no space in-between - so the "top" or "center" values won't do anything because there is no extra space to move the text views up or down. If you want to understand this better, try giving your linear layout and both text views backgrounds of different colors, like this: android:background="@color/mycolor" Then you will see the bounds of each widget.
