Spring Tool Suite and Spring Configurator - directory structure
Place them in a directory structure in a way that no redundancy exist on classpath. Eg: if your code searches for */application.xml file and you have all 3 on the classpath it will cause confusion Also leverage the use of Maven build profile and assembly plugin. Configure it such that only relevant files are packaged for each build profile.

SpringSource Tool Suite can't find Spring schema files
You have added in your classpath spring-tx-3.1.4.RELEASE.jar and in the spring.xm you are refering to http://www.springframework.org/schema/tx/spring-tx.xsd . Perhaps the xsd declarations you are using are old? (ie use: http://www.springframework.org/schema/tx/spring-tx-3.1.xsd)

Error occured during initialization of VM, Could not reserve enough space for object heap - Spring Tool Suite?
If your STS is running fine then the problem is with the JVM gradle runs to build your project. If you're using Gradle Wrapper you can configure direct its file, if you want eclipse to override it's params than you can try editing the Gradle preferences under Window > Preferences > Gradle > Arguments with your custom values for -Xmx and -Xms.

Use Tomcat server with Hibernate and Springsource Tool Suite?
Your requirements as listed below: Spring Tools Suite : http://www.springsource.org/downloads/sts-ggts (Choose the appropriate version) For Tomcat 7 to be used on STS , you will need to download it from this link: http://tomcat.apache.org/download-70.cgi Update to JDK 7. Link: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html To setup tomcat 7 in Spring Tools Suite (essentially Eclipse configured for Spring) use this link : http://www.coreservlets.com/Apache-Tomcat-Tutorial/tomcat-7-with-eclipse.html (Follow the same procedure for STS) You will also need to install a DBMS. Try using MySQL . Download it from : http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/ Also if you decide to use Eclipse for Spring (I do.. :P ), use this : http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/eclipse-ide-j

maven doesnt seem to be installing with springsource tool suite
You have to configure your Maven environment variable to be able to use it in the command prompt. In your case there's no need to download the maven binars because it comes with STS, just find the Maven folder inside the STS directory.

Groovy-Grails Tool Suite (GGTS) content assist not recognizing basic groovy
Make sure that you're in the Grails perspective; that can impact some of the Groovy/Grails features and how Eclipse (even GGTS) leverages them. You'll find the perspective button in the upper right. If you're in Java or Debug, odd things like this may occur. Also, how are you creating and opening your Groovy files? Do you use the context menus or the Grails command prompt tool to issue orders like "create-controller"? If you're creating the files in some other way, try using those methods to generate them, and see if you get the same results.

How to manipulate Chrome extension's widget with Selenium or another tool?
I found this image search dll library with a wrapper in AutoIt that solved it for me. It's not the most robust solution you'll find, but for most people it's working great. It worked for me with Chrome's non identifiable controls. Very simple use: $result = _ImageSearchArea("ButtonImagePath.png", $tolerance, $Left, $Top, $Right, $Bottom, $x, $y, 100) Where $x and $y are the result location so you can just send a click afterwards. Getting the image was very easy too with snipping tool. More info here and here. Edit: If you want to use it in C# it's possible too with interop with it's dll: (It's really useful for automating mouse clicks or so on unidentified buttons) class ImageHelper { [DllImport("ImageSearchDLL.dll")] private static extern IntPtr ImageSearch(int x, int y, int

A tool for using Spring Roo online?
I think the best approach to this problem is for you to create your data model first. If you want, you can do that online, using a tool from here: What are some useful online database modeling applications? After you are happy with it and have it loaded into a local database, then you can use the database reverse engineering feature built into spring roo to generate an application. For more details about that process, see the manual here: http://static.springsource.org/spring-roo/reference/html/base-dbre.html

Static Resources (js,css..) in Spring MVC app not available when adding spring-data-rest
I'm faced with same with some differences. In my case I add my handler for static resources: @Override public void addResourceHandlers(ResourceHandlerRegistry registry) { registry.addResourceHandler("/static/**").addResourceLocations("/WEB-INF/static/"); } After that some static files with long path (like /a/b/c/d.css or /a/b/c/d.js) served as static content but some files (like /a/b/c.js) is not. I found that in my case RepositoryRestHandlerMapping registers itself using Ordered.HIGHEST_PRECEDENCE and most of CSS and JavaScript requests handled into this handler by rules like [/{repository}/{id}/{property}]. This is a bug in Spring-Data, now this fixed (thanks to Oliver Gierke), you can get fixed version 2.0.0.BUILD-SNAPSHOT from snapshot repo and I hope this can help.

Subclipse tree conflicts
How was that branch created? Was it created by using svn cp, or were those files manually copied into that branch? Let's look at the following: $ svn mkdir trunk $ vi trunk/foo trunk/bar $ svn add trunk/foo trunk/bar $ svn commit -m"Added foo and bar to trunk" You now have two files on trunk. $ svn mkdir --parents branches/1.0 $ cp trunk/* branches/1.0/ $ svn add branches/1.0/* $ svn commit -m"Duplicated files onto branch" What I have done is create two entirely different foo and bar on the 1.0 branch. These two files, according to Subversion have absolutely nothing to do with each other. If you make a change on the 1.0 branch, and attempt to merge these changes back to trunk, you will get a lot of conflicts with messages like "local add, incoming add". What the above user should h

Subclipse and GitHub not working
Considering the latest Eclipse comes directly with Egit (as opposed to subclipse, which is a plugin you have to add to your Eclipse), it would be easier to use directly a git repo (through an SVN import) But if it isn't possible, then I would recommend following and testing first the workflow described in the GitHub blog post "Collaborating on GitHub with Subversion". And then adding in that test svn repo your svn revisions, in order to svn commit those revisions to GitHub (from an SVN repo where you already tested and managed to svn commit a few test revisions).

How do I set properties on file creation using Subclipse
This is a Subversion feature. You need to configure auto-props. If you are using SVN 1.7 or older read this: http://svnbook.red-bean.com/en/1.7/svn.advanced.props.html#svn.advanced.props.auto IF you are using SVN 1.8 (Subclipse 1.10) there is a new/easier way to do it. See here: http://blogs.collab.net/subversion/the-road-to-repository-dictated-configuration-day-2-autoprops Once this is configured, these properties will be added automatically as files are "added" to Subversion.

How to commit existing project to SVN with Eclipse Subclipse?
Share Project is the right option. However, you should let it create the trunk folder. What the process will do is run the svn mkdir command to create the trunk folder. It will then checkout that empty folder into your project (which does not impact your content at all). At this point, you now have a working copy which is the critical part. Obviously all of your project content still needs to be added. At this point your content will show as Unversioned. The process will launch the synchronize option to give you a chance to do this, though you can also just do it via the Team > menu option. You need to use Add to Version Control for everything you want to add, and then ultimately commit it. You can also choose to ignore some items if you want to be sure they are never committed.

Subclipse - ckeckout directory to existing project
You must not "check out" the directory, you have to "export" it. You can export anything from svn into any directory. Also you could simply copy the other directory (from another check out) and delete the hidden .svn directory below it. If the directory contains subdirectories, every .svn directory must be deleted in the subdirectories as well.

Prevent user from 'replace' during commit with Subclipse or in (apache) SVN
Are they using an updated version of Subclipse? Most of the reasons for this are caused by Eclipse and the way it drives the Team API. In some situations when you copy and paste it tells the Team API that you deleted the file, which causes Subclipse to run svn delete. The new file is then svn add which amounts to a Replace. Newer versions of Subclipse detect this situations and do a little dance of steps to turn it back into a modification. Current version of Subclipse is 1.10.1, that version or the most recent 1.8.x version should have these changes in them. You can write a pre-commit hook on the server to look at the changes in the commit and reject the commit if it contains a Replace. Take a look at the svnperms.py example hook script that Subversion provides. If it does not al

Useing Subclipse repository view to check out a branch
Read this chapter of the book: http://svnbook.red-bean.com/en/1.7/svn.basic.in-action.html#svn.basic.svn-repositories You do not understand the revision model. HEAD simply means the most recent revision. Revisions in SVN are global and describe the entire repository. A branch is a path within the repository. It would be perfectly normal to checkout HEAD of a branch.

How to customize Spring Security UI adding fields
I think this is a good question. I started using Grails about 5 months ago, and one of the first things I did was to install Spring Security and Spring Security UI. I initially used the RegisterController provided by the plugin, however I ended up rewriting most of it. The UI RegisterController contains a lot a business logic - I prefer to keep my controllers as dumb as possible, so I created a RegistrationService and moved the RegisterController code I needed there. Another gotcha was the RegisterController's use of the grails command object pattern. I ran into problems when I deployed my app to CloudFoundry and couldn't figure out why. I later read that other people had experienced the same issue. Simple workaround, but it left me scratching my head for a while... Hope this helps. E

Adding Spring Security dependency to Grails plugin
The plugins block is correct. If it's not working after installing from a zip, you might have some cruft left over from before. To keep things in one place, I like to remove grails.project.class.dir = "target/classes" grails.project.test.class.dir = "target/test-classes" grails.project.test.reports.dir = "target/test-reports" and replace them with grails.project.work.dir = 'target' so everything is under the target folder. When things get weird, run rm -rf target to force a full re-resolve and rebuild. Then, rather than using inline plugins (which aren't great about transitive deps because we read that info from POM files now and that's not available unless you package the plugin properly) or zips, use the release plugin's maven-install script. Add this to the plugins section (re
