Reduce data usage in an application supports offline-mode
ProGuard has nothing to do with the amount of data you send/receive from a server. ProGuard can shrink and obfuscate code (thus making your APK smaller). You need to analyze the data you send and receive. There is no silver bullet here that will magically solve any bandwidth issues you may come across in an app. You need to ask yourself several questions and take action depending on your answers: What kind of numbers are we talking about? In 2011 the average bandwidth use of an app was around 10MB per hour. There are probably more recent surveys if you search a bit. Are you far above the average number? If not, then I don't think you have to worry too much. How often do you send and receive data? If it's a real-time app that absolutely require live data then there's little you can do. I

How does deezer offline mode works
I can't speak for Deezer, but there are several new APIs in development for HTML5 including the FileSystem and FileWriter API. In use cases it gives examples of large storage requirements the API will be able to fulfil such as storage of large media files and assets. Offline video viewer It downloads large files (>1GB) for later viewing. It needs efficient seek + streaming. It must be able to hand a URL to the video tag. It should enable access to partly-downloaded files e.g. to let you watch the first episode of the DVD even if your download didn't complete before you got on the plane. It should be able to pull a single episode out of the middle of a download and give just that to the video tag. It's still a working draft and not very widely adopted.

Ext.data.LocalStorage not working on Offline Mode
1) First of all when you creating record and adding into store, the record fields should match the model fields of that store. Here you creating record with field name, but Local.model.Offline didn't name field var rec = { name : record.data.name + ' (from localStorage)' }; This is what you need to do within refresh localStore.getProxy().clear(); // Also remove all existing records from store before adding localStore.removeAll(); store.each(function(record) { console.log(record); var rec = { ID : record.data.ID, LookupName : record.data.Name + ' (from localStorage)', LookupDescription : record.data.Description }; localStore.add(rec); }); // Don't sync every time you add record, sync when you finished adding records localStore.sync()

Finding current region with lat long in offline mode
You will probably find you have problems getting a location if you have no network access. iOS uses assisted-GPS, which allows the device to both lock onto GPS satellites much faster than it might otherwise take, and also pull in other data from the network to quickly determine location. Without network access you may not get a location reported back at all, especially if the app was being used indoors (vanilla GPS reception is typically very bad without line of sight). If you do get a location it may take several minutes for an accurate enough reading to be provided.

Does veracode plugin have full scan capability in offline mode
Thanks for the question. The Veracode Eclipse plugin currently can handle displaying security flaws in an "offline mode." This is done by downloading the XML version of the security results via an internet connected computer, either via the Veracode platform or one of our APIs, and making it available in the development environment e.g. via a shared drive. The plugin has a menu option to load flaw information from XML and you would simply select the previously exported flaw information. Hope this helps.

On the client side, clients will make changes locally and whenever internet is available they can upload their changes and download changes made by other through that central Server database. Take a look at Microsoft Sync Framework. It automatically deals with many complex merging scenarios. There are many solution to avoid duplicate keys on client, one of them is to use GUID or uniqueidentifies. Advantage of ontology over RDBMS in an offline application
The main advantage of using ontologies is the formalized semantics. This way a reasoner can automatically infer new statements without writing specific code. But it's true, that you can model every Linked Data also in RDBMS and the other way around. The same is true for querying with SPARQL or SQL. You can achieve the same results. SPARQL has some advantages if your SQL query requires multiple joins. This can be expressed in a far more meaningful way in SPARQL. The disadvantage of ontology based databases is nowadays still a lack of performance in comparison to RDBMS.

Working with images in HTML5 offline application?
Use FileAPI available in HTML5. You can "upload" your images there, and then, when the server is back online, you can transfer them, even using traditional XHR. FileAPI is safe to use as most of the major browsers support it: http://caniuse.com/#feat=fileapi Detailed: 1) Write the file to permament or temporary storage (as defined by our application). Note that temporarystorage is cleared when the session exits (at the browsers discretion). See here for tutorial: http://www.html5rocks.com/en/tutorials/file/filesystem/?ModPagespeed=noscript 2) I would use traditional XHRequests to transmit them. It's easier and well-tested (you don't have to design a new protocol from scratch). 3) That's the best thing :) You can get correct URLs right from the File API, so the images are displayed fr

How do I detect multithread mode in a Rails application?
there seems to be a way to determine whether your rails app runs multithreaded or not, but it differs slightly between rails 3 and 4. in rails 4 you can do: YourApp::Application.allow_concurrency? and in rails 3 the way you would to it is: YourApp::Application.config.allow_concurrency note, that you cannot use the rails 3 way of doing it in rails 4. if you're curious why then check out the source code (https://github.com/rails/rails/blob/master/railties/lib/rails/application/default_middleware_stack.rb#L68). as you found out by yourself, there is a handy method called #use_zone provided by active support: [15] pry(main)> Time.use_zone('Sydney') { Time.zone.parse('01/01/2013 12am') }.utc => 2012-12-31 13:00:00 UTC [16] pry(main)> Time.use_zone('Berlin') { Time.zone.parse('

which Instance Mode would be better for wcf service for Online game application?
Well, it depends. If you're writing the code from the ground up, it's relatively arbitrary. In general, I think it makes sense to lean towards Per Instance, because shared state is often better stored elsewhere than the service implementation. One way to achieve shared state is to have a singleton instance of that game state. That way, each WCF service call just references that singleton. This provides some separation of concerns: The service implementation deals with communication and keeping the game in sync happens elsewhere.

How to tell if webpage is running in chrome application shortcut mode
Using a HTML, no. Using other web-application frameworks - Maybe. But here is an idea bellow which depends on your knowledge in PHP. You say you can create a shortcut in Google Chrome, and you want to detect if website is accessed over that shortcut. Well, in case you really need that, you could, instead of creating a website shortcut in Chorme, create the actual Chorme add-on or extension which will redirect you to that "separated standalone window" or how you say it same website with different layout. You see, in that case you could instead of exposing your URL as it would look in shortcut mode "http://example.com/shortcutmode.php?id=app", store the URL in plugin of Chrome and your "shortcutmode.php" would be that different layout index. The next thing would be, to code a $_SESSION i

Cannot debug application in release mode even with DebugType=full
Debugging optimized code is no great pleasure. You certainly may have trouble setting breakpoints, a method may have been inlined. And inspecting local variables and method arguments is liable to make the debugger sulky when the variable was optimized to be stored in a cpu register. You however certainly can still inspect call stacks, you'll see the methods that didn't get inlined in the stack trace. Basic mistakes you might make: when you attach a debugger, you get the option to select the debugger type. Be sure to select "Managed", you will not have much use for the native debugger be sure that you are looking at the correct thread, the program can be broken at an arbitrary location. Use Debug + Windows + Threads to select the appropriate thread be sure that you are actually brok

What is an ideal way to put a Java Web Application (Struts) into Maintenace mode?
To block user during maintenance mode you need to switch a user from normal mode to maintenance mode. A way to intercept all incoming requests and redirect them to the maintenance mode page, is to add a Servlet Filter to your web application. Inside the Servlet Filter you need to check whether the filter is in normal operation mode, or maintenance mode. If the filter is in normal operation mode, the request is passed on to the web application as normal. If the filter is in maintenance mode the request should be passed on to a maintenance message page instead. The following link can help you in configuring filter in maintenance mode : http://tutorials.jenkov.com/java-web-apps/web-app-maintenance.html

C# window application checkboxlist selection mode one not working
CheckedListBox allows user to check multi-checkboxes and that's the purpose of designing this control. SelectionMode is just to indicate that you can select one or more items (an item is considered selected if it's hightlighted not checked). So to work-around you have to add some code to handle the ItemCheck event. The mechanism is simple. int lastCheckedIndex = -1; //ItemCheck event handler for your checkedListBox1 private void checkedListBox1_ItemCheck(object sender, ItemCheckEventArgs e) { if (e.Index != lastCheckedIndex) { if(lastCheckedIndex != -1) checkedListBox1.SetItemCheckState(lastCheckedIndex, CheckState.Unchecked); lastCheckedIndex = e.Index; } } //To register event checkedListBox1.ItemC

Custom font in WPF application only works in design mode but not in the build
I have found that the font family whose name includes Medium/Light or other font key words will have the problem described above. When I used code to load the font files, the loaded font family names were different from that shown in the font files. So I assuming that the key words in the font name will be removed automatically when loading. To solve the problem, I recoded the names(loaded by code) and used them to refer to my custom font family. It works well in the build but does work in the design mode now. Comment/Uncomment will be helpful to switch. I think the easiest way should be to change the font family name by removing the key words, but I don't have permission and I didn't try it.

Why assets (except application.css, applications.js) are not being served in Development mode using require_tree
Actually, it was the problem with the order in which the JavaScript files are being loaded using require_tree. directive. When we use require_tree. it assumes to load all the js files inside the app/assets/javascripts directory in alphabetical order. But in case of javaScript, we can load the files in a particular order so that one file should not conflict with the other regarding any functionalilty. So, it is better to avoid require_tree. directive unless we are using only small number of js files. You can explicitly declare each file in the application.js manifest file so the order can be controlled. The common files you are loading can be put in to a separate directory under app/assets/ and it can be loaded using require_directory ./separate_directory_name to load it (iff it has not
