Mobile cross-platform development
You can use jQuery-Mobile with both; Sencha touch is more like jQuery Mobile then cordova : you will always need cordova for most of the native events; jQuery Mobile wont automatically give you native UI on each platform, the standard theme is iOS-like, you can always make diferent themes with some alrdy developed tools, or do ur own styling with CSS. With jQuery Mobile you use HTML5 for the UI, with Sencha Touch you go full JS. You can also use MVC on jQuery-Mobile with some lib such as Backbone.js.

Cocos2d-x cross platform game development
For source control you have several options such as Git or SVN. Personally I quite like Git as it doesn't require a central server as it is peer to peer. That means if it all goes wrong with your host you still have a full copy. In terms of good and repository hosting I would take a look at https://bitbucket.org/

Web system development on Google's infrastructure or platform
You not specify what you want to achieve/ Google App Engine + webapp2 + ndb + Django templates + Python Designed for web, extreme scalability, pay per usage Google Compute Engine + Linux + Django + MySQL + Python Not designed for web but can be used, MySql is not high scalable, payer per usage. Lock-in is not major problem if you want serve mass traffic - scalability and maintenance cost is more important. Both is some lock-in and choose not lock-in is also lock-in :) Creating scalable platform on machines cost lost of time and effort and is what is done in PaaS in Google App Engine - this mean you can skip one phase of project. If you not plan really big traffic (near to facebook) maybe it is no sense to build servers farms on your own.

What's the industry standard way to organize Visual Studio projects and code for .NET Cross-platform development
This is a well known programming problem, if solution exists they usually require some work and even more when a project is not designed from scratch to be portable. As you correctly pointed out, pre processed statement will quickly become an overhead and a real pain to maintain and expand over time. Yet it is not easy to answer this question directly since the solution you are seeking might be highly dependent of your implementation. Generally speaking I would advise you to make extensive use of well known design pattern such as Abstract Factory, Bridge, Facade, etc. As an exmaple, start by identifying every single piece of code which is platform dependent, define API interfaces responsible to handle these specificities in your core project and implement them into dedicated projects - u

.NET integration with Honeywell D6X00 Platform SDK ( for Personal digital assistant - Dolphin 6500 Mobile Computer application development )
Although this is now several weeks old... If you get a windows mobile device from any company and need an SDK for special hardware in the dvice, you first have to look for downloads at the company's web site. For a Dolphin 6500, for example, you will find the possible downloads at https://www.honeywellaidc.com/en-US/resources/Pages/download.aspx?pid=DOLPHIN6500. To develop for a Windows Mobile (NOT Windows Phone!) you need a full VS2005 or 2008 version, the Express one's will not support SmartDevice development. After you have downloaded and installed at least one Windows Mobile SDK by the MS sites. You are able to start a SmartDevice project in your VS setup. You can write C/C++, C# or VB.net SmartDevice projects (you can also mix the progr. languages). The company's SDK is only an exte

What platform (server installed on ubuntu vs ubuntu server) to prefer for website development?
There seems to be a lot of confusion in your post. Based on your lack of experience with GNU/Linux, I would suggest you use desktop Ubuntu. The difference between Ubuntu server and Ubuntu desktop is that the server edition is targetted to experienced users, so you get a very minimal distribution. No GUI, nothing preinstalled except the bare minimum. As for your comment about Apache/Glassfish, the two aren't comparable. Apache is the name of the open source community which looks after a lot of products. Very often people call Apache's httpd just "apache", which is a web server. Glassfish is a Java EE application server (Oracle's reference implementation) so probably a good place to start with Java EE.

Access violation on reading location 0x33313032. when build the project under x86 platform the ame works fine under 64bit platform
Number 0x33313032 is very suspicious. Those are actually letters "3" "1" "0" "2". Somewhere in your code you have those letters in the memory, and the code thinks that that part of memory is some pointer instead of those four letters, and is trying to reach where the pointer points, which is 0x33313032.

How are you integrating help into your WPF application. Any recommendations?
My current preference is to use a third party help authorizing system to generate HTML based help. We then use a WebBrowser to display this help as needed. The authoring system we use makes it fairly easy to extract out a single page from the main help (each "topic" is a single HTML file, and can be included with full contents or not as desired). Granted, this definitely felt like a bit of a nasty hack at first - but once we wrote the basic plumbing (some attached properties for xaml to specify attributes for context location and add behavior to trigger help, etc), it's fairly clean. One very nice advantage to this approach, however, is a single help system build works perfectly in all contexts - we can include the documentation online, expose it locally for use in a browser, and use i

ZF2 Server Requirements/Recommendations
This type of answer is really only one you'll be able to answer yourself by loading up your application and testing. Depending on your application you may need more resources than the typical application would. You mentioned Magento so here is a link to their requirements: http://www.magentocommerce.com/system-requirements However this still won't fully answer your question. There are many factors involved here such as the web server you will be running. Other applications running on the same machine. The amount of users you will have at any given type. There really is no true calculator to define what resources you'll need. ZF2 specifically does not have many system requirements but you can find more information on that here: http://zf2.readthedocs.org/en/latest/user-guide/overview.htm

Complex SQL query for recommendations
This is what I think you're looking for: Given a user John, find all movies B such that there exists a movie A, a user Simon, and a genre G where: John rated movie A a 5 Simon rated movie A a 5 Simon is not John Simon rated movie B a 5 movie A is of genre G movie B is of genre G Phrased this way, I think it's pretty easy to come up with a query: select B.* from user John join rating JohnA on JohnA.userid = John.id and JohnA.value = 5 join movie A on A.id = JohnA.movieid join rating ASimon on ASimon.movieid = A.id and ASimon.value = 5 join user Simon on Simon.id = ASimon.userid and Simon.id <> John.id join rating SimonB on SimonB.userid = Simon.id and SimonB.value =5 join movie B on B.id = SimonB.movieid join movie_genre Agenre on Agrenre.movieID = A.id join genre G on G.id = A

Recommendations regarding nested transactions in SQL Server
When you do a BEGIN TRANSACTION an internal counter is incremented @@TRANCOUNT. ROLLBACK TRANSACTION will rollback all BEGIN TRANSACTIONS setting @@TRANCOUNT to 0. Doing a commit transaction will only decrement @@TRANCOUNT, it will do a full commit when @@TRANCOUNT is 1 before setting it to 0. With that in mind, Assuming you have paired BEGIN and COMMIT TRANSACTIONS in your Book and UnBook procedures I would do the RescheduleBooking procedure something like the following which will maintain the first book even if the unbook fails... CREATE PROCEDURE RescheduleBooking ... AS BEGIN BEGIN TRY BEGIN TRANSACTION EXEC BookAVehicle ... COMMIT TRANSACTION END TRY BEGIN CATCH IF @@TRANCOUNT > 0 BEGIN ROLLBACK TRANSACTI

I had the same problem while integrating LinkeIn auth on my site. While it didn't stop the linkedin api from working, I was annoyed to see the error popping on the console. So I binded a listener to remove any iframe coming from "https://api.linkedin.com" before it loads. jQuery('body').bind("DOMSubtreeModified", function(evt) { var elemento=evt.delegateTarget.lastChild; if(elemento.tagName=='IFRAME') { if(elemento.src.indexOf('https://api.linkedin.com')!=-1) { jQuery('#'+elemento.id).remove(); } } }); Everything is still working.

Is Myrrix a good choice for content-based recommendations?
In an indirect way, yes. You can add 'tags' as if they are users and items -- that is, a user tag is like an item that the user interacts with. This provides a way to inject information like user attributes, and vice versa for items. Under the hood, these work just like actual users and items in the algorithm. See the setTag() method and API methods.

Recommendations of bypassing show/hide javascript with anchors
What I've done in the past is to use anchors to trigger the javascript that shows/hides data. So every action that can happen is triggered by an anchor tag with the href as "#<whatever>". Whenever an anchor (hyperlink) is clicked, it updates the url with the proper anchor and triggers the hashchange event in window. Whenever that event fires I just have a switch statement that analyzes the hashtag and figures out what dynamic content needs to be changed. The last part of this is to call the function with the switch statement at the dom ready event so that if somebody bookmarked the page with an anchor, it will know to load whatever dynamic content that specific hash triggers.

Rails Displaying Recommendations - Facebook/Linkedin style
Well, you could 'store' the decision of the user in session/cookie/database depending on how persistent you want the decision to be. After the user rejects a suggestion you could just reload the suggestions taking the decision into account. E.g. Suggestions.where(["id NOT IN (?)", User.rejected_suggestions]) (Assuming you have an m-to-n-relation between User and Suggestions called rejected_suggestions) And the way it is displayed is just javascript. You could use for example jQuery and fade the rejected suggestion into hiding and let the new one slide in. http://api.jquery.com/fadeOut/ http://api.jquery.com/slideDown/ And for reloading and storing the decision just use an ajax call. Alternatively: Load a few more suggestions (than 5) and only use JS to fade them out and slide new

Are Google Play billing security recommendations only for piracy prevention?
It looks like you are referring to the Android In-App Billing "Security and Design" best practices which are specific to Android in-app transaction security only. A malicious hacker may find ways to access your in-app digital goods without actually paying for them. However, there are multiple and effective solutions to thwart hacking attempts. I recommend to watch this Google I/O presentation that addresses such issues.

Recommendations on using assertions to remove sections of Java code in production
If someone at the data center - for whatever reasons - enables assertions, your production is going to execute test code happily in the production environment: For example, if an administrator enables assertions to analyze another application, but he just picked the wrong one in his console. Or it's only possible to enable them globally. This just happens. And you cannot really blame him: The basic problem is really that the connection between "assertions" and "conditionally execute production or test code" is not obvious.

Image hosting with public API, management console and autoresize, any recommendations?
For your use, you can use Amazon S3. It is great and it just works perfectly! A possible cheaper option is Google. Google docs now supports all file types, so you can load the images up to a Google docs folder, and share the folder for public access. The URL's are kind of long though. There are various options for resizing etc and it's Google so obviously their API is stable and perfect. Google only charges USD5/year for 20GB. There is a full API for uploading photos, docs etc.

Cross Platform Platform
The MVC framework can definitely be used for mobile devices (when you say apps, I am assuming you mean websites that function as apps), and MVC 4 introduced significantly more support for mobile development, including things like templates (http://www.asp.net/whitepapers/mvc4-release-notes#_Toc303253809). MVC is a move to a less heavy handed framework than, for example, Webforms, and it should give you the flexibility to develop for any device. However, it does also open you up to coding yourself into some problems if you approach it in the wrong way, so make sure you are familiar with the framework before trying to develop some super next-gen responsive web app.

C# GUID for different platform
You can create a new solution / project platform for a 64-bit build and then define different GUID-s for the different platforms. You'll then build 2 DLL-s of your MMC snap-in: one for 32-bit platforms and one for 64-bit platforms. In Build->Configuration Manager create a new build platfom (for example x64) and then go to the Build in Project properties to define a new symbol for your x64 build target. This would be something like _WIN64. You can leave the Platform target dropdown as Any CPU, just make sure that the 64-bit MMC loads your _WIN64 build version. (I'm not familiar with how to set up MMC snap-ins so I don't know what this involves.) Once you do the above configuration steps, you can now pretty much duplicate your C++ code in C# to check for build target: #ifdef _WIN64 [Sn

QOS for UDP on Linux or any other UNIX-like platform
If your network implements DiffServ, then you can use setsockopt() with IP_TOS to set the DiffServ code point (DSCP) on your packets to a suitable value. (Before DiffServ was specified, these bits were interpreted as Type of Service (TOS) and priority fields, hence the name.) Note that the UDP-based transport protocol (uTP) in modern BitTorrent implementations already behaves as if it had lower priority than "normal" traffic, and will back off when it senses congestion.

Redis in windows platform
I think there is something wrong in your understanding : Do not be confused between where your application is hosted and where Redis server is hosted. As a separate (NoSql) Database Redis can be consumed by MANY client types. Check this : you could use Redis in C#, Ruby, C, PHP, Java... So your application could be written in any technology, you just have to connect to a Redis server. You're true, Redis is not directly supported on Windows but Microsoft has forked the project a few month ago. The git is available here. Even if it's not production-ready, it's a valid solution for dev environment. The good question is : does your application could be run on multiple environnements, Windows and/or Linux ? I suppose it's a web app. This means front-end on Windows and Redis DB on Linux. I

SFML Platform Collision
There are a number of different ways to do this, some more complex (and efficient) than others. For your sake, I would begin with simply putting a "bounding box" around your character. This bounding box will move everywhere that your character goes and should surround him or her. Whenever this bounding box intersects with a solid object, there is your collision. Here's where the fun comes in: What does "intersects" mean? A lot of things. You can write a function to find out if two shapes are intersecting, or use a function from SFML, or use some sort of physics library (like Box2D). How do you stop a character from passing through? Find out how far they will intersect (you check collision BEFORE you move the character), then make it so the character only moves to the bounds of that soli

You can install the plugin directly if you use the p2 director application. Be aware that the groovy plugin is not the same as the groovy-all jar since we provide a patch on top of the groovy compiler, but these changes should not affect the behavior of the compiler.

pygame platform collisions
The easy way to do this is to use the pygame.sprite module, which is designed for exactly this kind of thing. The example on that page shows most of what you want to do; the Shooter sample that comes with pygame shows all the details. But briefly: Make Block and Player both subclasses of sprite.Sprite, put all the Blocks into a sprite group instead of just a list, and use spritecollideany(player, block_group), and that's all there is to it. If you want to do it manually, it's not that much harder. You need to keep track of the bounding rect for the player the same way you do for each block, and then instead of this: spritecollideany(player, block_group) … you do this: player.rect.collidelist([block.rect for block in blocks]) != -1 In general, everything sprite does, you can do

Data conversion for ARM platform (from x86/x64)
Endianess only matters for register <-> memory operations. In a register there is no endianess. If you put int nIntVal = 0x12345678 in your code it will have the same effect on any endianess machine. all IEEE formats (float, double) are identical in all architectures, so this does not matter. You only have to care about endianess in two cases: a) You write integers to files that have to be transferable between the two architectures. Solution: Use the hton*, ntoh* family of converters, use a non-binary file format (e.g. XML) or a standardised file format (e.g. SQLite). b) You cast integer pointers. int a = 0x1875824715; char b = a; char c = *(char *)&a; if (b == c) { // You are working on Little endian } The latter code by the way is a handy way of testing your endiane

Can XSD restriction be platform specific?
Saxon's XSD processor introduces the idea of validation parameters, which you can specify when invoking the schema processor from the command line or from an application - you can't use them in facets like minInclusive and maxInclusive, but you can use them in xs:assert and other places where XPath expressions are used. It's good to see that this meets a real requirement, though to be honest, until such a feature becomes widely implemented in other processors it would be a little unwise to base your strategy on it.
