How can I configure embedded tomcat to listen to port 80 and 8443?
I found the solution. In the customize() method I used tomcat.addAdditionalTomcatConnectors(httpConnector()) method to add a new http port // create an http port for downloading images over http private Connector httpConnector() { Connector connector = new Connector("org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11NioProtocol"); connector.setScheme("http"); connector.setPort

Why is my tomcat valve not being invoked?
Turns out it is caused by a missing ROOT-directory in Tomcat's webapps-dir. I think that Tomcat does filter incoming requests rather rigorously at a very early point in time, even before any valves can handle and mess with the request. And if there's no default context (i.e. no ROOT-dir) then Tomcat (thinks to) know(s) that a request to non-existing-webapp cannot succeed and thus does not even cal

Grails Tomcat Plugin - DeployTask cannot be found Error

It's trying to pass a variable called warName in the deploy task, but that variable doesn't exist. I haven't fou

Tomcat 8.0 Rewrite Valve
In Tomcat documentation http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-8.0-doc/rewrite.html is written The rewrite valve can be configured as a valve added in a Host. See virtual-server documentation for informations how to configure it. It will use a rewrite.config file containing the rewrite directives, it must be placed in the Host configuration folder. so try to move rewrite.config into $CATALINA_HOME

How can I verify that my Tomcat app server correctly supports FIPS 140-2?
It may not be obvious, but this isn't a <Connector> option, but instead an APR option which gets configured in the APRLifecycleListener in CATALINA_BASE/conf/server.xml. You can read the documentation for the APRLifecycleListener and see that there is a FIPSMode setting that allows you to control the use of FIPS mode. I think you want FIPSMode="on". This will force Tomcat (really OpenSSL)

wso2esb "Unable to validate SSL Certificate"
I think there you do not want to worry about testing the address endpoint. Endpoint/WSDL URL testing feature is not working in ESB according to the jira. it is a know limitation in ESB endpoint UI where it does not use SSL configuration defined in axis2.xml to validate SSL certificates. Therefore it gives "Unable to validate SSL Certificate". However, as you are configured every thing fine in ax

UrlRewriteFilter with Tomcat 7
It's okay if ROOT/WEB-INF is empty: just create a new web.xml file with only your url-rewrite configuration in there. If you are going to redirect everything, your ROOT context only needs to have WEB-INF/lib/url-rewrite.jar and WEB-INF/web.xml and nothing else.

Spring Boot (using tomcat) url redirect no template engine
You don't use template engine so I assume your HTML files are static files. In order to achieve your goal, put HTML files into directory src/main/resources/static/. In your case, put file index.html to this folder and it becomes immediately available just by calling http://<domain>/index.html. To make redirection to this file from http://<domain>/ create controller like that: @Contro

Ok you need to get the error from command prompt. You will need to do the following: click on windows button type cmd (followed by enter) cd C:uPortal_testapache-tomcat-7.0.56in (followed by enter) startup.bat (followed by enter) If you run this batch file you some of the error will pop off the script which will give you hint what wrong you are doing and you can correct accordingly.

In tomcat, what is catalina_home and why we use it?
CATALINA_HOME is the folder where Apache Tomcat is installed e.g. c:program filesApache Tomcat or /usr/apache/tomcat. It is the folder where you unzip Tomcat in the first place (when you install from zip). CATALINA_HOME is necessary becasuse a lot of the files Tomcat will used are referred to from the variable CATALINA_HOME. For instance log files are written inside CATALINA_HOME/logs. Configurat

Cannot configure port in TomcatConnectorCustomizer for Spring Boot
You can't have server.settings.* in your external properties (unless you take some steps to exclude the thing it is trying to bind to, or to segregate the properties out of the Environment). Spring Boot binds server.* to ServerProperties and it doesn't have a "settings" property.

How to deploy in tomcat server without making it down
Use parallel deployment. Note that you have to manually un-deploy the old versions of the web application once the number of sessions goes to zero. Another option is to use more than one Tomcat server at a time and load-balance between them. Drain one node of the cluster, then upgrade the drained node, then enable that node and repeat the process with the other node. This is basic stuff.

Second, the root web application's deployment descriptor needs to be called ROOT.xml if you put it into CATAL

It depends on what you put in front of the app, in the past I've used nginx and HA Proxy, and the config files for those services need to be adjusted to be aware of the additional instances you're now running. Hopefully that's automated as part of the same process that created those new instances.
