in parse.com is there a way to duplicate an entire app?
Parse released this functionality today :-) Head to your apps dashboard at https://www.parse.com/apps and click the little cog icon on the app you wish to clone. Then, click on Clone, and you'll be taken through a flow where you can choose which parts of the app you want to clone to a new one. You can't yet clone Data, or background job schedules according to their blog announcing the feature.

Which protocol does use when calling custom defined functions on Parse Cloud?
According to their documentation, all connections are made with HTTPS and SSL, and Parse will reject any non-HTTPS connections. The protocol used by the client libraries is HTTP, with a REST style API. For your custom defined (Cloud) functions, it's an HTTP POST. The body of the request is JSON.

What kind of object does a Parse.Query.get()
Although the documentation doesn't say so, I believe the get method returns a Promise. Here is an example for getting the actual object taken from the documentation: var query = new Parse.Query(MyClass); query.get(myId, { success: function(object) { // object is an instance of Parse.Object. }, error: function(object, error) { // error is an instance of Parse.Error. } }); In th

How to use more complex queries for Push notifications in Parse.com?
You can create a channel for each user called "follow_[objectId]" where [objectId] is that user's objectId. Whenever a user follows someone, add that someone's follow channel to the user's push channels. Then, whenever you want to send a push notification to someone's followers, just push to their follow channel. Their followers should be subscribed to that channel and get the push. This can be p

parse.com: fetching only 100 results
The default limit for REST-API calls is 100 objects but you can set a limit for your request (anything between 1 and 1000). Public Read and Write ACL despite all permissions being disabled
I also found this a bit confusing and here's what I think is happening: There appears to be the same notion of undefined for ACL's as for other cells. I think that is the default security ACL (non) value. However, when the ACL is undefined, it gets reported in the Data table viewer, under the ACL column, as "Public Read and Write". I suspect that someone at Parse decided that showing (undefine

Which Parse api to use?
Yes parse can hold your HTML and you can host your site on it, you can read more about it here. If you are building a web app I would use the JavaScript sdk. Parse has a lot of documentation and its actually really good. This here would be a good place to start. Hope this helps!

Parse: PFQuery performed locally or remote
You are only every returned objects that are matched with your query, and the default settings are to run queries remotely. However, you can also fetch cached results if you've run a query before so the request doesn't need to go out to Parse.com and will return data to you much quicker. The default cache settings are to query via the network only, so every query you run will go to Parse.com and

Filter Parse.Object properties that should get saved to the server
So, we've figured out a way to filter the list of attributes that get saved. If you wanna do it, you have to override a private, undocumented method on the Parse.Object called _getSaveJSON, so the complete model above would be: Parse.Object.extend('someObject', { defaults: { foo: 1, bar: 2, computedProperty: function() { return 1+2 } }, get: function(attr) { var

I'm answering this a bit late, but I thought I would answer to help out other readers. Like Akshay pointed out, you should definitely set the appropriate Class Level Permissions. Parse generic foreign key
You could generate a composite key based on the class name and object ID. Eg, User-JFUB234DF. Just choose a separator that's an invalid character in a classname to avoid conflicts with actual classnames. You'd need to parse the key to run any lookup to split out the class name and object ID.

Once an image is uploaded to parse.com, can I point a different domain name at it (rather than http://files.parsetfss.com/blah/blah)?
I don't believe it is possible, at least the way you are trying to do it, since the files are actually stored on Amazon S3 buckets. Your domain isn't the one setup on those buckets you will get this error. If you are using parse hosting (https://www.parse.com/docs/hosting_guide#webapp) and your domain is set point to it you can create a route to handle the redirect from there by returning the cor

Relation or Pointer?
A general rule of thumb is to use a pointer for one-to-one or one-to-many relationship. Use a relation when you have a many-to-many relationship. I would say in your case it sounds like you want to use a pointer type. This guide is useful.

Does Parse now support more than 1 geopoint per object?
Got this response from Parse (in the Google Group forum): Hmm, that sounds like a problem with the data browser's mechanism of altering the schema. Could you report a bug? I would not recommend using objects created in this way - the underlying data store can only index one geopoint field per object, so whichever field gets indexed second just will have the index fail and you won't be able to run
