Change Custom Views drawing when button is clicked in Swift OS X app
Call setNeedsDisplayInRect() on the view after setting isTrue = false. This will notify the view that it needs to redraw and drawRect will be called again. Your buttonPressed function should be defined in the ViewController that contains the custom view import Cocoa class ViewController: NSViewController { @IBOutlet customView: MyView! override func viewDidLoad() { super.viewD

applescript and application process name on OSX 10.10
I might have misunderstood your question but if you just want to change your app name from SWT to your application name try this Display.setAppName("My app name"); This should be set before any display class is initialized.

How to compare (in a shell script) two files by basename then discard one?
You can get the basename of a file using the basename command (looks like you're doing this step from find anyways...): $ file="/foo/bar/baz.ext" $ echo $file /foo/bar/baz.ext $ name="$(basename "$file")" $ echo $name baz.ext Then to remove the extension, use the %.* Parameter Expansion to strip out the last dot and everything that follows: $ base="${name%.*}" $ echo $base baz man bash, sea

What's managing the git I'm using on my mac?
brew link git --overwrite will replace the version in /usr/local with Homebrew's. Homebrew is shy about overwriting files; if /usr/local/bin/git already existed before you ran brew install git, Homebrew would have built and installed git to the Cellar but wouldn't have symlinked the Homebrew git into /usr/local. The Xcode/CLT git is in /usr/bin.

Installation of igraph on python distributed by anaconda ? (and graphviz)
Okay, there are multiple questions here so I'll try to answer them one by one. The version number that you see there has nothing to do with the "official" version number of libxml2 (which is, by the way, 2.9.2 at the time of writing and not 9.2). This is the version number of the Application Binary Interface (ABI) of the library. Some projects choose to keep the version number of the ABI in sync

How do I upgrade my OpenGL from 2.1 to 3.3 on Mac OSX?
You cannot upgrade your graphics drivers since they are provided by Apple. But your system should support OpenGL 3.3 ( https://developer.apple.com/opengl/capabilities/ ). When creating a OpenGL context you must request a CoreProfile mode. If you are using GLUT this can be done this way: GLUT on OS X with OpenGL 3.2 Core Profile

OSX Today Extension without containing app
You cannot create a today extension without having an app. They don't work that way. All iOS app extensions are just that-- extensions to an app. There must be an app, and it must do something to be accepted into the app store (Apple rejects apps for "minimal functionality"). Extensions cannot exist on iOS outside of an app bundle, until or unless Apple decides to change things in the future.

How do I deploy Assistant with my app on Mac without deploying multiple copies of Qt Frameworks?
Unexpectedly, the Assistant opened correctly even from outside the QT Creator.. Once I gave both the assistant and the resource file absolute paths. (I could have done that for either the Assistant executable or an entire bundle) I copied the executable Assistant inside the same folder as my app executable. Of course, adding dependent libraries and setting the link paths to @executable_path/../F

Launch or focus an app with slate window manager?
I'm not entirely sure, what the problem with your example is, but with this one Slate launches the Applications if they are not running. Maybe you have to state all arguments of the slate.shell method. slate.config("orderScreensLeftToRight", true); // Create Operations var pushRight2_3 = slate.operation("push", { "direction" : "right", "style" : "bar-resize:3*screenSizeX/5" }); var pushLe

How to open default project in Sublime Text when starting app (mac)
I set hot_fix, remember_open_files, and close_windows_when_empty as described in Set Sublime Text's default directory when opened, and this works on MAC IF you 'quit' sublime rather than closing the app using the 'x' in the upper right hand corner of the app. So for me, when I want to close sublime I go down in the doc and right click on sublime and choose 'quit', and when I open it again, the

Just a guess (since that's all we can do without your actual code - the thing that isn't working - but perhaps you're not accounting for cell view reuse? Mac OS X & SVN - Handling accented filenames

What is clang's equivalent to --no-undefined gcc flag?
OS X uses a different linker. As @rubenvb points out, it's probably the one from Apple's binutils. If you run man ld, and search for "undefined", you will find this option: -undefined treatment Specifies how undefined symbols are to be treated. Options are: error, warning, suppress, or dynamic_lookup. The default is error. So, replace -Wl,--no-undefined with -Wl,-undefine

How to compare text in a case insensitive way on OSX Yosemite
Delphi initializes UTF8CompareLocale with the value returned from CFLocaleCopyCurrent. UTF8CompareLocale is used inside AnsiSameText for the locale settings that are used for the case insensitive comparison. But then OSX Yosemite considers "I" and "i" different if the language of OSX is set to Dutch. Calling SetUTF8CompareLocale('en_US'); on a Dutch system fixes the problem without having to patc

Swift filter function causes compile error
I don't see anything wrong with your code, but the compiler is crashing when compiling it. That should definitely be reported to Apple. One workaround for this seems to be to simply declare Weak as a struct instead of a class. This compiles just fine: struct Weak<T: AnyObject> { weak var value : T? init (value: T) { self.value = value } } protocol CSLocationServicesDel

Using ImageMagick to add whitespace to images in bulk

make applescript run in the background
While AppleScript does have its own sleep method (delay), what you are probably looking for is the idle handler. If you save your script as an application and check “Stay open after run handler”, Mac OS X will call your script’s idle handler immediately after your “run” handler finishes. Your idle handler then returns the number of seconds until the next time it should be called; this ca

How to change default working directory on Mac OS X?
No. You can't even rely on the working directory being the user's home directory. On other versions of the OS, it was different and it could change in the future. The notion of a working directory doesn't make any sense except in the context of command-line invocation. It is generally a convenience for the user to pick to allow them to specify relative paths from whatever base they prefer. If a p
