Disable debugging info in intellij IDEA
You can disable it by unchecking Show values in editor in the Settings

Note that you might need to restart your debugging session in order
for the change to take effect.
IntelliJ: "java connot find symbol class" when class is in same package
Somehow a couple lines made it into my .idea/compiler.xml
I closed the project, deleted compiler.xml and when I reopened the
project a new compiler.xml was generated and the project compiled
without any issues.

I had a similar problem after upgrading to RubyMine 7.

Is it possible to customize IntelliJ IDEA 14.0's "Refresh all Gradle projects" / Gradle projects sync behavior?
IntelliJ is affected by apply plugin: 'idea' (which should always be
done) and (some of the) related configuration in the build script.
There is already quite some auto-completion, but obviously it's not
perfect yet. Expect improvements with every new IntelliJ and Gradle
For now, if you want utmost customizability, consider generating the
IntelliJ project with gradle idea, rather than us
WebStorm syntax highlighting for Swig template engine
Swig has nearly identical syntax to Twig, so we can assume they can be
used interchangeably speaking of syntax highlighting and code
The thing is that PHPStorm it has a Twig support throught a plugin

IDEs thought the Plugins menu.
This issue can be solved by:

Disconnect from a remote JVM in IntelliJ Idea
Press the big red stop button. It'll stop the debugger, not the remote
process. I don't think you can use the debugger to explicitly kill the
remote process -- you're only connected to the debug port and I don't
think it can do things like that, unless you deliberately execute a
System.exit(0) command in one of the code evaluation windows.
Debugger cannot see local variable in a Lambda
This appears to be a know issue. According to JetBrains the root
causes of this behavior is with the JDK. For more info see:
Can I configure IDEA to pick up the style settings for Eclipse?
IntelliJ 13+ can import code formatting settings from Eclipse without
the compatibility plugin. Export your Eclipse settings and import them
Settings > Code Style > Scheme - Manage > Import > Eclipse
Keep in mind that code style settings in IntelliJ IDEA and Eclipse
are fundamentally different and can’t be mapped one to another with
So I see three possible reasons of the problem:
1) The file was marked as 'Plain text'
2) There is a pattern for 'Text files' file type that matches this
3) There is a custom plugin that overrides default behaviour for files
with this name (unlikely)
IntelliJ - Change Editor Highlight Line where Cursor is Located
You can change that in Editor/Colors and Fonts/General. The exact
entry you must change is Caret row (which is perhaps the reason you
could not find it because everyone would expect this to be named
something like line highlight :)).
running sbt assembly in intellij
Yes, it is a challenge to get spark to run in Intellij: and the
"answers" on how to do so change based on the spark version and if you
were running off of master or not.
The best bet is:
"Import project" and then navigate to the spark_home directory.
choose "sbt project" (or if you prefer "maven project")
rest of options you should be able to use the defaults.

Intellij 14 weird editor/cursor behaviour
Disabling/Uninstalling the ideaVim plugin seamed to fix the problem
for me. The plugin description hints that you can configure it via a
configuration script in ~/.ideavimrc, which there may also be options
to get "normal" behaviour with the plugin installed but I haven't
looked into that though, because the plugin doesn't seems all that
useful to me. I hope this helps other people to fix there is
Quasiquotes in Intellij 14?
It's s not q:
val x = 5.0
I loaded spark up in Intellij 13 and the macro paradise backport of

able to support this syntax as it's a compiler plugin:

Can anyone explain how to get a hybris project set up in Intellij Idea?
Intellij does nothing for you to help with hybris development, it
doesn't build or use any of the shipped rulesets. So you are shooting
yourself in the foot to start.
But as a consequence it matters not one bit how you open it in
intellij. just treat the whole thing as a module, or each extension as
a module. makes no difference.
intellij IDEA import settings
After importing, you have to explicitly pick up those settings. I.e.
if you imported code style settings you have to go to Idea settings
and explicitly pick this imported code style from drop down list.
How to hide all toolbar/windows and buttons in Android Studio with a keyboard shortcut?
You can use presentation mode by going to View -> Enter Presentation
Mode. You can set the keyboard shortcut by going into Settings ->
Keymap. If the font size is too big you can change that in the
Settings as well; the easiest way to find it would be by searching.
Keep getting an error 2 message after importing project related to my JDK
It looks like somewhere in Idea or in your system there is settings

Check your .bash_profile or any sbt related settings.
Check also jenv project, might be helpful for you.
Intellj package prefix is reset by gradle refresh of projects
Ok, I stopped trying to use the Intellij short cut and created the
whole file structure for the package.
It turns out that Intellij hides most of the empty folders any way, so
there is only one folder on display rather than a large folder tree.
Creating new dart project in Intellij IDEA 13.1.5 community edition
I recommend using Stagehand (http://stagehand.pub/). It's a great new
command-line tool that creates well-formed Dart project folders,
complete with pubspec.yaml and even build.dart for Polymer projects.
The tool can create console apps, web apps, Polymer apps, and
IntelliJ cannot locate a test package
When you declare a dependency on a library, even with a test-scope
dependency, only the production classes are included on the classpath,
because the test code doesn't get added to the production jar.
To depend on resources (classes, whatever) from a test folder, you
must have the classes you want packaged into a library that can be
depended on with a test scope. To do this we use the maven jar
Where can I find IntelliJ documentation for different keymaps?
I think the most reliable and up to date "documentation" for
keymappings will probably be the Keymap section of the settings
itself. There you can browse through all commands separated by
categories and view assigned shortcuts to them.
You can use dropdown to choose different schemes (Default, Default for
GNOME, etc). When you have section of the commands open (for example

Intellij uexpected quote behaivor
Normally I use an US layout to hack and the german layout for anything

I always wondered what is the actual difference between the US Layout

of the differences.
I switch to US Layout and all is fine.
How to configure Intellij for Tabs to Spaces for Only Certain File types
IntelliJ normally allows you to set indentation settings per language
in Code style section of the settings. As far as I know Markdown is
not included out of the box and support for it must be installed via
plugin. But the plugin doesn't seem to enable Code style configuration
So the only solution I can think of is to set tabs as default
indentation in General section of Code style
Tomcat support on Webstorm
You can do one thing.
First start your apache tomcat server with startup.bat/startup.sh.
(Suppose your project directory name is "AngularJSTest" in WebStorm.)
Right click on that > Refactor > Move .
Give the path to webapps directory of Apache tomcat.
So from now on whatever changes you make in the project from WebStorm,
it will get reflected in the webapps directory. You can access it

Is it possible to keep *.erl sources and *.beam output in the same directory with intellij-erlang?
Erlang programs should be build on standard OTP directory structure.
Build tools like rebar (used by intellij) or erlang.mk build on this
conventions. And so should all IDE's.
Intellij does it, just like you notice. And so does Emacs's plugin
(that I use and can confirm). I would guess so does Vim's one.
So if you would like to be able to switch easily between your IDE's
you should try to
Grow and shrink selection keybindings in IntelliJ Cursive
It depends which platform you're on. Generally you don't have to
configure these actions since they're built in to IntelliJ, they're
not Cursive specific. Alt-Up and Alt-Down are for the Mac OSX 10.5+

Intellij does not recognize Haxe SDK

Configure key mapping consisting of keyboard shortcut and a mouse click in IntelliJ
You can set keyboard/mouse combo shortcuts from Settings/Keymap. You
just have to choose Mouse shortcut option.

Hold down Ctrl and click with touchpad (or mouse) on the mouse icon
Here is also an alternative solution which involves directly modifying
the configuration file:
